Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[Hak's voice alone carries promise, and Jae-Ha looks towards him with a smirk, pausing midway through testing the weight and feel of a bo staff he'd helped himself to. Hak's confidence is something he appreciates, and he finds himself smiling broadly in reply.]

Looks like it might be an interesting challenge.

[He's game.]

You seem confident.

[Not that he minds. He taps the rod of his spear against his shoulder a couple of times before his grin widens and something shimmers in his eyes. After watching several matches, he's been aching for a good bit of combat himself against someone who knows what they're doing.

Let's see if this guy lives up to that impression.

He lowers his weapon and points it at the man across from him, bringing it only inches from his face in a playful, competitive manner.]

I know my strengths.

[He doesn't flinch even when then blade comes dangerously close, his smile hitching wider instead. He passes his staff from one hand to the other behind his back, giving it an experimental spin in the process.]

On your mark?

[thethunderbeast]

You better know how to use them.

[The unflinching of the other man pulls his own grin wider, and Hak signals with a nod before bringing his spear around in the first swing, quick and easy and natural. The feeling of the blade shattering the quiet and kicking up the dust at his feet is both exhilarating and oddly familiar, and he only hopes that the other man is fast enough to block it...]

[Strength may be where Hak shines, but agility is Jae-Ha's specialty-- he pushes off and dashes backwards just in time to keep the blade from coming uncomfortably close, relying on his reflexes to guide his staff and block the incoming swing. He manages to deflect it, but Hak's strength is apparent, and he withdraws his weapon quickly, a mischievous glint in his eye.]

That's quite some swing you have there.

[thethunderbeast]

[He pauses when he sees Jae-Ha withdrawing his staff, and his own weapon comes to rest across both of his shoulders behind his head again.]

Too much for you?

[leapinglizard]

Oh, not quite.

[He smirks broadly, and without further ado, leaps up and forward-- far higher and further than any human should be able to do, soaring past Hak and landing behind him, immediately dropping down to give his own weapon a low swing, an attempt to knock the larger man off-balance.]

[thethunderbeast]

[He watches, impressed, with brows raised as the audience they've gathered 'ooh' and 'aah' at the show. And while that might have served as some fancy distraction, Hak's lightning fast reflexes kick in and he sidesteps the attack, and his spear is swung around as he falls back to try and put some distance between them.]

Now you're just showing off.

[There's no shortage of amusement in his voice as he raises his weapon in front of him in preparation for further attacks.]

Every chance I get.

[He doesn't need his memories for that much to remain true. His smirk hitches higher on one side, and he casts his staff to the ground, abandoning it for now. It's not his preferred weapon, he can feel that much, and he'll never be a match for Hak when it comes to brute strength.

Agility, however? He has that in spades.]

There are more tricks where that came from.

You going to share with the rest of us?

[He'll play for a little while longer. At least he's not bored anymore?

Hak doesn't hold back anymore. His spear comes down in another mighty swing, this time over his shoulder but it's nowhere near Jae-Ha... not yet, at least. It serves more as a warning to prepare himself for the next swing that comes, completely telegraphed and obvious.]

[leapinglizard]

[Leave it to Jae-Ha to entertain. He launches himself upwards to avoid the incoming swing he can spy Hak building for, seeming to hover mid-air for a moment as he reaches into his sleeve and pulling out a dagger with a single, fluid movement.

When he throws it, he aims low-- clearly not intending to hurt Hak himself, but should he make his mark, he may succeed in pinning Hak to the floor through the back of his robe.]

[Huh, well colour him pretty impressed... Why the hell can't he jump like this?

Hak sees the dagger coming his way, and he raises his spear to block it and takes a step to move out of the way, but... there's something holding him there. He tries to tug himself free again, but glancing over to the problematic spot on his clothes, she spies the dagger pinning his robe to the ground.

He deadpans at Jae-Ha, and motions a hand to it.]

You've ruined my good robe.

[leapinglizard]

Have I?

[Jae-Ha smirks once more as he lands easily at one corner of the ring, arms folded across his chest.]

If it's any consolation, it's not that good. The craftsmanship is a bit lacking. You're far too handsome for that.

[thethunderbeast]

[Tch, show off.

Hak bends down and wrenches the dagger free from the ground, tossing it up to let it spin through the air before catching it again. Not really his style.]

It isn't a consolation. Even with the compliment.

[It didn't help to soften any blows.]

[leapinglizard]

[Naturally. He can't help flaunting his natural ability any more than Hak can help being magnificent.]

I'll help you find something better. More flattering.

[Well, Hak is just going start walking away now because no....]

Maybe you should consider heeding your own advice first.

[leapinglizard]

My own advice?

[He laughs openly, hopping down from his post on the corner of the ring.]

My aesthetics are perfectly in line, thank you very much.

[thethunderbeast]

Your clothes aren't that different from mine.

[So you shouldn't be the one to talk, Jae-Ha. Look at that robe...]

Mine's at least comfortable. Yours looks hard to move in.

[leapinglizard]

I suppose the subtle differences aren't obvious to the untrained eye.

[And he didn't say yours was terrible, Hak, your aesthetic just needs some tweaking.]

I think I already proved I have no problem moving.

[You might be strong, Hak, but he's fast.]

My eyes are trained elsewhere. I have no reason to be worried about what I'm wearing or what I look like.

[It helps him blend in a little better. The fancier things are, the more people stare and he'd like to avoid that as much as possible. Guess there's one perk to standing next to Jae-Ha - he's got the funnier clothes.]

[leapinglizard]

[Jae-Ha huffs a sigh, though a smile pulls at one side of his mouth all the same.]

You're not much for fun, are you? That's disappointing.

[thethunderbeast]

Sorry to disappoint.

[He pauses, his fingers curling tighter around the handle of his spear before he turns around and gives it a low swing at the ground, kicking up dirt and dust with a grin as he does.]

If it's a good time you want, you'll have to look elsewhere.

[leapinglizard]

You say that--

[Jae-Ha grins in return, brandishing another dagger in reply, seemingly out of thin air.]

But there's more than one way to have a good time.

[He'll fight you any day, handsome.]

[Hmph, reflexes aren't bad. Hak huffs a single laugh and lets his weapon rest against his shoulder again.]

Your idea of a good time and my idea of a good time sound pretty different. I must have a lot to learn.

[leapinglizard]

I'd be more than happy to teach you.

[His grin quirks upwards on one side, lopsided.]

You're handsome and strong. We would do well to fight side-by-side.
