Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[It was still settling in for Chinatsu that she was...she couldn't even say it yet.]

Yeah, but can they tell us what happened to us and who we were before?

I don't think so.

[That part doesn't bother her too much. To her, it feels like all that exists are now and the future. It's strangely freeing. Or at least, it would be without all this other business she just doesn't understand.

But after a moment, she asks curiously:]

Do you feel it, too? Like it's something we're not supposed to think about? That something bad might happen if we do?

[At least, that seems to be case for her. Ayumu will start to think about things but then suddenly it all feels repulsive to continue doing so.]

Oh...

[At her question, she looked back up at the woman.]

Huh? Well, yeah, but I want to know.

[Her need to know pretty much kicked that fear to the curb.]

Why shouldn't I be allowed to know about myself?

[She said this in a prideful tone, her arms crossing in front of her.]

[Ayumu understands pride. Oh, does she understand. And stubborn willfulness, too. She sighs.]

I don't know but I think it's best to leave the past alone and learn who you are in other ways.

[During Ayumu's time here as a goddess, she would have been able to answer that question with painful wisdom, having lost a shinki, her lover, to that same fate when he learned too much about himself and turned into an ayakashi. But those memories, too, are out of her reach.

Despite that, Ayumu looks clearly distressed by this turn of conversation. Whatever happens at the end of this path can't be anything good. This feels like dangerous ground to tread.]

Please don't think about such things - ah, I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name.

[Maybe it's because the girl looks so young or because they seem to share a similar outlook on some things in this situation but a surge of protectiveness flares up with Ayumu. This line of thought is dangerous and nothing good can come of it; that much Ayumu is certain of.]

[The look on the woman's face keeps her from questioning why she seemed so against the idea. She didn't want to upset her more than that, especially when she was being so nice to her.]

...Alright..

[She rubs the back of her neck.]

Ah--! I'm sorry! I'm Hiyama Chinatsu.

[She gives her a slight bow in greeting]

'Chinatsu' is fine.

[Ayumu looks relieved at the acquiescence, however, temporary it may be. She manages a gentle, almost sisterly smile for Chinatsu.]

Yamazaki Ayumu.

[She bows in return.]

Just Ayumu is fine with me, too.

[A brief pause.]

'Chinatsu' is a lovely name.

[She smiled at her meekly]

Thanks, Ayumu-san.

[Ahh what a cool lady.]

Oh, Ayumu-san..have you met your god already by any chance?

[kagenonadeshiko]

Oh, no, not yet. I'm a little curious to see who I'm to serve.

[Ayumu chuckles and smiles. She's nervous but a little excited, too, just a little bit.]

How about you? Have you met yours yet, Chinatsu-san?

[redmare]

[ serve... That word didn't sit well with Chinatsu.]

No, not yet. They sure are taking their sweet time.

[kagenonadeshiko]

Maybe they don't know what you look like?

[Maybe Ayumu's own god doesn't know what she looks like. Or they keep missing each other? She hasn't strayed much from the designated areas since settling down a little.]

I'm not sure how we're supposed to find each other.

[Did she miss something in the pamphlet? Should she look at it again?]

....That's would be such a pain in the a---a hassle. A serious hassle.

[As if she read Ayumu's mind, she pulled out her pamphlet to check it herself]

Not seeing anything here...And it's not like I've heard anyone calling out names either.

....Maybe they should give out nametags along with these pamphlets.

[Ones for shinki and for gods. Just being left to wander around like this isn't a very well-organized or efficient endeavor, is it?]

Or at least give names and descriptions instead of leaving us to twiddle our thumbs like this.

[There's a slight grumpy tone to her words.]

They should!

[Her voice matched Ayumu's.]

How else are we supposed to know? Is their head gonna start glowing if we go near the right one?

It'd be funny if they did. And a lot more efficient than the way it's being managed right now.

[She's not sure why she feels this way but it's really nice talking with someone like this, speaking so plainly about flaws with person who also shares a critical mind.]

I wonder if there's anyone who takes suggestions around here....

Right?! There's gotta be someone we can complain to...

[But Chintasu isn't as upset now. Probably because it was fun having someone to be upset with.]

What do you think the gods are like?

[The typical image is some benevolent old dude, but they couldn't all be like that, could they?]

[It is fun to have someone to get upset with, isn't it? And really just someone to talk to and vent with that can see where she's coming from, even a little bit.]

Nature spirits? I don't really know. In Shinto they're something like that... Someone I met here said that the new gods are the same as us, they just have their memories and we don't.

[It doesn't seem fair but life's never really fair.]

Or do you mean the ones who brought us here?

[redmare]

[As if she read Ayumu's mind, she exclaimed,]

What?! That's not fair!

[Why couldn't shinkis have their memories?]

...Were the ones that brought us here gods?

I'd assume so. I can't think of anyone else with that kind of power.

[She's dead now but she was alive once in either a place or a time far removed from this one. Or it's all lies and they brought her into being in this place. Either way, they must be extremely powerful to hold such power over life and death.]

It is strange that they should remember and we don't. It doesn't make much sense.

[The past isn't something she wants to think about, not at all, but it is odd that some brought here would remember while others don't. What possible purpose could that serve?]
