May Training

Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: July 15
Where: Bishamon's temple, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki

The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
  • Get all the information you can handle
  • Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
  • Get in some training
  • Don't get dehydrated
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

Well, if it is, I never found out how to do it.

[Goku can summon his staff? Hakkai forces his surprise to stay mild on his face. If Gojyo had been able to summon his own weapon, Hakkai hadn't seen him do it here, but then he might have avoided it in front of someone who could have been reminded.]

Shinki each have different powers, though.

[ Goku is totally okay with having more powers, especially ones that involve making things appear. He'll have to figure it out on his own though, if this is supposed to be just something he can do. ]

Cool! What could you do? When you were a shinki, I mean.

Oh, I could do a few different things! In one of my forms, I could let my goddess use shadows as weapons.

[Which is, he has to admit, pretty cool.

It's a shame that power didn't seem to stick around; he can think of all sorts of ways to integrate it into his usual tactics. Of course, things are also significantly less openly violent here than they are at home.]

Whoa.

[ Goku thinks that's pretty cool too. He's trying to picture how this works in his mind. Do the shadows turn into solid things? Or is the shadow like a black hole, that eats away at you? ]

You must be really strong.
reformedsinner: (apologies)

[He laughs cheerfully.] All shinki have their own powers!

You might have others, too. It's worth practicing with your god to see what you might be able to do.

Hmm okay. I'll do that, then!

Oh, but hey, if you ever wanna spar, let me know! I know we're supposed to fight things and stuff.

[ He's not sure why he asks Hakkai, except that he's pretty sure he's stronger than he looks and also it just feels right. ]
reformedsinner: (mister manners)

[Hakkai's eyebrows quirk up, and he drops his gaze from Goku's for a moment as the corner of his mouth turns up as well.

Sparring with Goku -- well, yes. That'd be interesting, of course.

And it's also weirdly heartwarming to have an offer of renewed friendship made so easily. Although from Goku he shouldn't have expected anything else.]

Yes, I think I'd like to do that. I'd be happy to help you with your shinki skills, too, if you'd like. I remember a thing or two.
solaris9: (sanzo: by your side)

[personal profile] solaris9 2017-07-23 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? Okay!

[ He beams at Hakkai. He's such a nice guy, and helpful, too. Goku thought at first that being a shinki would be scary, not knowing anyone or anything. Being without any memories of your life feels like walking around in a room without the lights on. Now he's feel a lot better about the whole thing. ]

Where can I find you again?
reformedsinner: (foundling)

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2017-07-23 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a temple that was abandoned once near the hill south of the Great Hall. You can find me there most days in the afternoons. It's the two-story concrete building, with a pond at the back.

[He hasn't had the time to find his own temple yet, but surely it's somewhere. Once he's found it he can pass on those directions, too.]
solaris9: (hakkai: proud)

[personal profile] solaris9 2017-07-23 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. I haven't really looked around yet, but I can probably find it.

[ He knows the hall, and a hill is easy enough to find from there. ]

I should go look for my god. I'll see you soon?

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2017-07-24 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I look forward to it.

[Hakkai beams cheerfully at Goku, lifting a hand in a wave.

He lets the smile stay until Goku's turned away, when it falls back to a flatter expression. He should find his new shinki, too. He should find his temple.

He should think very seriously about how he can go about protecting Gojyo and Goku, when both of them are here, and utterly bereft of their own memories. As pleasant as the Heavens can sometimes seem, they are not safe. Until they know what's happening -- none of them are.]
