May Training

Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: July 15
Where: Bishamon's temple, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki

The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
  • Get all the information you can handle
  • Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
  • Get in some training
  • Don't get dehydrated
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

Magic.

[Her tone's surprisingly neutral on the subject considering how firm she was in her skepticism of the supernatural in life. But now with her memory loss, Ayumu's more openminded and impressionable that she's ever been in her life.]

I don't think I know much about magic at all. And this wall... this 'borderline' - it is shinki magic? A wall of magic?

[Even if Ayumu's not sure she understands how magic works, this sounds incredibly useful to her.]

I don't know the first thing about magic anyway. When I actually heard that borderlines are magic, it shocked me. [He shrugs his shoulders with an equally slight smile.] But it comes with the territory. And yeah, borderlines are a wall we can make. Do it right and it can keep ayakashi from crossing it as long as you need them not to.

Does it work on anything besides ayakashi?

[A wall to keep monsters at bay is certainly useful but if it can be used against other opponents as well, even better. Even in her current state, Ayumu's not naive enough to dismiss the idea of gaining more adversaries than just ayakashi.]
mithrarin: (frown)

[Dust nods slightly.] Solid wall. Here, hold on...

[This doesn't come easy to him, but he's practiced enough to have the basics down. Gritting his teeth, he concentrates his will, then drops a hand down to the ground where they sit.]

[The solid wall of the Borderline springs up for a very short distance, only a couple of feet, stretching out from his hand.]
kagenonadeshiko: (caught off guard)

[personal profile] kagenonadeshiko 2017-06-30 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! I see. That looks very useful.

[Definitely an ability worth mastering and considering different applications for. She studies it closely, expression thoughtful.]

How flexible is it?
mithrarin: (whoa hold on)

[personal profile] mithrarin 2017-06-30 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
What, the wall? If you're doing it right it's completely immovable. [That's what she meant, right?]
kagenonadeshiko: (sharp; calculating)

[personal profile] kagenonadeshiko 2017-07-06 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's not what I meant. I was just wondering if a borderline had to be a straight line or if it could be other shapes.

[She's quiet a moment, pondering it over.]

Like a ring for example.

[If shinki found themselves surrounded, being able to create an immovable wall around themselves as a temporary measure would be a very handy skill.]
mithrarin: (look away)

[personal profile] mithrarin 2017-07-06 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dust drops his hand and the borderline as one, moving to rub up one sleeve a little self-consciously.] Ask someone who's better at them than I am. That was probably the best one I've ever done.
kagenonadeshiko: (content to serve)

[personal profile] kagenonadeshiko 2017-07-08 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
'Kay. I'll be sure to ask someone else, then.

[She pauses a moment before continuing with a smile.]

Thanks for all your help. I think I understand a little more about what's going on now.
mithrarin: (look away)

[personal profile] mithrarin 2017-07-08 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry it's been so rough. You looked... well, in a pretty bad way. [As gently as he means that, he isn't going to sugercoat it.]
kagenonadeshiko: (a little unsure)

[personal profile] kagenonadeshiko 2017-07-17 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose I did.

[It's a little embarrassing, honestly. She doesn't cope well with confusion on her own but her pride makes it hard for her to reach out for help. The damage is already done so what's talking a little more about it going to do?]

I'm not sure what came over me. I just felt like I had to escape and get as far away from here as I could.

[In her final hours of life, the drive to escape back to her people and to do as much as much damage to her captors as she could before they killed her once it'd been clear there was no way out had been very strong. The knowledge of what had happened might be gone but the wounds carved into her psyche before she died remain.]

I appreciate your kindness. Ah! I'm sorry, I don't believe I caught your name.
mithrarin: (dust to dust)

[personal profile] mithrarin 2017-07-17 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dust could sort of understand. He didn't have that overwhelming desire to act, in some way, from the final moments of his life -- but something inside him keeps driving him out to fight ayakashi even if he can't permanently kill them, to help others, to generally be a hero. He accepts that it must be something from his life, something instinctive to his nature.]

[...really, he has no idea of the truth.]

I'm Dust.
kagenonadeshiko: (attentive; nonthreatening)

[personal profile] kagenonadeshiko 2017-07-21 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
It's nice to meet you, Dust-san. As odd as this circumstance is.

[Ayumu smiles a little wryly. Some first impression she must have made but in a way, it's kind of liberating in a way she can't define.]

But I probably shouldn't keep you too long. I'm sure you have training and others to oversee as well.
mithrarin: (smile)

[personal profile] mithrarin 2017-07-22 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not that important by a long shot. I'm just here to work on my borderline.

[Dust treats this whole encounter as a first impression, so on the whole it isn't bad. Honestly, she looks like she's had a rough time of it before now. Even if she doesn't remember, that sort of thing can linger, as he knows.]

[She's all right, really.]

But I'll get back to that. And hope you'll feel up to making it in yourself.
