The first known murders happened just after Tanabata, and have tended to occur in pairs. The first two were laid out in a park on the Far Shore with 'Death to Amaterasu' carved into their backs, the second two were also laid out in a park, and since then a few more have been killed in varying ways.

Amaterasu's shinki have been investigating. I'm afraid I haven't paid close attention to the investigation's progress so far.
