Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.

Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




Divine Bureaucracy

Wasn't it the newly revamped Shinki Agency's job to assign shinki this time... They thought it was the original team of Amaterasu's shinki's job this one last time before Shinki Agency took over the responsibility. Needless to say, when the shinki wake up at the Meeting Hall, there's a lot of shouting. Eventually, one of the Shinki Agency representatives herds the new shinki together and instructs them to please all go to Bishamonten's temple for the time being and they will send a runner with the god-shinki assignments as soon as they can.

New gods and old gods alike will not be notified that there is a mix-up unless they come to Bishamon's temple for Training, until the Shinki Agency can figure out what happened.

Important addendum: For this round, gods still have a vision of how their shinki died, however they can't make out any details, particularly about who they saw die.
Once a shinki of the Agency gives the god the name of their shinki, the god is then able to find them by name. Once they give their shinki a vessel name the god will have the full vision of how their shinki died.

This addition comes in response to some questions and need for clarification. Apologies and thank you for your input.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[ Don't think she hasn't realized you're pumping her for information. Yet Hibiki has decided to permit this, in the interest of reassuring a newcomer. Her benevolence can truly only benefit everyone by embracing the puniverse at large....

So. An advance screening before the roadshow, for a new fan club member. ]

There may be a small wait, but, endure it with a patient and hopeful heart. A true Heaven will dawn.

[ Yata just flashes him a sharp grin and twirls the pole with an easy grace from where it rests on his shoulders into an easy battle stance. ]

I'm fine like this. I hate the heat, anyway.

[Nanako, please, no. Don't try to warm him up.]

[She turned to the stranger, and just stared as the pieces fel into place. She was the one she had seen die, he was going to be like a... guardian to her they said? Like a knight?]

Oh! You're- [Her excitement quickly falters when she takes in more of his appearance] you're so young...

[She bit her lip, and set her flowers off to the side so she could instantly start fussing over him. She straightened his hair, wiped some of the sweat off his face and then straightened his odd clothes. Once he was groomed to her satisfaction, she placed her hands on his shoulders and gave him a big reassuring smile.]

I promise I will take good care of you lethellin!

[Even if he was human, he seemed to be more in need of a guardian than her! She was clearly the adult and needed to take care of him! This would totally work out fine! She could do this!

...no she really couldn't, but she was going to try anyway.]

[A nod of agreement.

He can completely understand her sentiment. To find any comrades or friends as shinki, even he'll admit there's something undeniably heartbreaking about that.

An eyebrow raise, but he frowns slightly.]

I've yet to run into any children. [Yet.] But I have come across some shinki. There have been a few who's already beginning to question a few things. [He thinks back to Garry.] If there are children here, then it'd be good if they were a god here instead of a shinki.

[freezetheheavens]

[Oh, good.

This will be fun. A faint smirk appears on his face.]

Then let's not waste any time.

[Unfortunately he's not the god she's waiting for, at least Loki doesn't think so. But the short monologue about phones has caught his attention. Here, have a strange preteen talking to you.]

Hasn't it? I come only from four years into the past, on my universe's timeline, but the improvement is quite breathtaking! Just the camera quality! They seem rather larger when I figured they would shrink with time, however.

[She reached out and pet the wing with a look of pure child-like glee, They were so soft, he really was like a giant bird! Oh she wished she could tell varric about it, he'd wouldn't be able to believe it!]

Oh, but I didn't ask! [He must have misheard something. There's a moment where she realizes that just touching someones feathery back extensions might have been rude,
but he didn't seem to mind too much, so she simply focused on what he said.] Oh, that was sarcasm. Right. Your wings are very pretty by the way! How did you get them?

It does not work as a superhero-sidekick kind of kinship. Neither kind can defeat the evil things without the other, as far as I know.

...However, that weapon is astonishing! Not looking particularly practical but it's pretty cool!

I rather fight without a shinki but I'm not to sure how all of that works just yet...

[Listening to him makes her frown more, that isn't good at all. How the hell does this place even function? Kirie crosses her arms thoughtfully.]

Honestly, I'll do what I can. I won't let helpless or innocent people get hurt. Shinki, god, human, neighbor, it doesn't matter...but I'm going to look for the quickest way out of this place too. My own world already suffered from an invasion...I don't like not knowing whats going on there.

[Her gaze slides back over to him]

Hey shrimp, do you have a name? Are you any good at fighting or anything besides death?

[Shinigami death cooties aside...she doesn't know him but he seems okay so far. It's probably a good idea to exchange some information. Kirie knows she can't do everything alone or be around to see everything.]

[Hibiki, he is not here for you to use him as clean up.]

Seems like you've had a few teacups shattered.

[ What about if you cleaned up a murderer? Is that an acceptable use of your custodial prowess?

Because that is a thing you had better do, because knowing you are on the case means she doesn't have to think about it, and Hibiki loves delegating stuff she considers beneath her. Do not deprive her this joy.

This even more mundane topic, however, yields a mere shrug. ]

[Riza's appearance isn't that much different from the vision Rekka received - her hair is down and she's in all black (the white shirt that was covered in her blood thankfully was taken off long ago). She doesn't pay much mind to her first comment, a quick nod as if it was something she just understood. The question however...]

My name's Riza. Unless it's a very popular name.

If shinki weren't necessary, then they wouldn't exist in the first place.

[So yes, he can sort of understand, but at the same time, he doesn't.

He focuses his gaze on the others that might be milling around.] I can sympathize with you on that regard. With the way my world is now, being here is more of a pain than anything.

[That gets another light twitch from him.]

Hitsugaya Toushirou, and yes, I'm good at fighting.

[A glance at her.]

Well, no you see that's the point. I set someone on fire and they stop trying to kill me!

[Because that happens surprisingly frequently.]

But no one here is really trying to kill me, so I'd rather not.

I suppose my timing was a little bit off. I'd give you tips, but you probably already know more about them than me.

[ The phone said it was summer, and at the very least, Botan knew there were a lot of festivals in that time. So her guess is that she's in-between them or something. She definitely didn't know how to make the clothes she was wearing. Actually, the person's appearance made a lot more sense if they made their clothes- it was all very personalized. ]

Surprisingly enough, you're not the first to say that! I'm calling it the Botan Special. A one-of-a-kind technique, so a super rare collectible.

[Ah, the murderer thing he can do, along with the help of others.

He chuckles.]

You know, people might view it as target practice.

[Not saying he would, but the sentiment is there.]

[ Souji had heard "Sensei" in a familiar, ringing voice, but hadn't been able to spot Teddie at the time. So he's been... looking for him, a little worried that he was either hearing things or maybe was hearing wrong, that Teddie wasn't a god but another friend brought here as a shinki.

Turns out, it's a little bit worse.

The instinctive dread of a shinki learning anything of their past kicks in immediately for him, and he decides it's. It's probably better safe than sorry to interrupt this exchange. ]

Hey, Teddie, don't overwhelm people you've just run into. [ He carefully doesn't say just met. ] Sorry, Naoto.

[ Hibiki laughs. ] Nonsense.

[ She sips. Her eyes are closed as she drinks deeply from her teacup. That is how little she suspects this could possibly be the case.... ]

[.....Toushirou honestly isn't sure what to think of her right now.

He blinks once.]

You have no intention of working on any physical combat then?

[Concern? What's that? Diana just watches the expressions shifting across the man's face while munching on an apple pilfered from the refreshment table. She probably shouldn't be eating in the training area but whatever. She's hungry, bored, and just wants to get settled in at wherever she's supposed to be living.

Crunch. Chew. Swallow.]

I think you have to pick it up first.

[ It's the familiar voice that catches him, first. Souji turns from where he'd been speaking with someone, pardoning himself from the conversation, only to see -

Jennifer. Jennifer is here, and very much in possession of her memories. At the very least, of the ones she had as a shinki. It takes him a very long moment before he goes to approach her, although he does it in a bit of a semi-circle, since he'd been a little ways behind her at first. He doesn't want to spook her, so he moves, coming around so that she'll see him approaching, instead. ]

Jennifer?

[Well, he had told this guy he'd spar with him when they got the chance, so that challenge doesn't exactly surprise him. The earnest excitement and the almost polite way of putting it seems rather familiar, but Shun doesn't comment on it, instead turning to face Urashima and looking him over before he points over to one of the areas empty of equipment.]

Then we'll have to move. Do you have your weapon already?

[It might seem like a stupid question, but Shun's definitely been challenged before by people who hadn't picked out blades to practice with.]

[The question makes Shun hesitate briefly, because the most straightforward answer to that isn't a pleasant one, as Ren learnt a while ago asking him the same thing. But Nanako does know that his past isn't really a pleasant topic, so he feels safe enough giving a not entirely evasive answer.]

I had a lot of need to evade attack and a lot of chance to practice in situations where failure wasn't an option.

[It doesn't seem right to keep on that subject with Nanako here, though, so he changes it as soon as the chance arises.] Have you been practicing? I remember last time you were worried about not having figured out your god power.

[Since Shun hasn't met this guy before now, he looks Yata over with a calculating gaze, even as he's given that more speculative look back. It doesn't seem like he's new either to this place or to training, so Shun shrugs a little at his question and glances back at the headless figure.]

They're decent for filling in the gaps between actual fighters, but that's about it. I'm surprised you didn't come over sooner.

[Yeah, Shun noticed him watching, he just hadn't been close enough at that point for Shun to actually address him.]
