Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.

Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




Divine Bureaucracy

Wasn't it the newly revamped Shinki Agency's job to assign shinki this time... They thought it was the original team of Amaterasu's shinki's job this one last time before Shinki Agency took over the responsibility. Needless to say, when the shinki wake up at the Meeting Hall, there's a lot of shouting. Eventually, one of the Shinki Agency representatives herds the new shinki together and instructs them to please all go to Bishamonten's temple for the time being and they will send a runner with the god-shinki assignments as soon as they can.

New gods and old gods alike will not be notified that there is a mix-up unless they come to Bishamon's temple for Training, until the Shinki Agency can figure out what happened.

Important addendum: For this round, gods still have a vision of how their shinki died, however they can't make out any details, particularly about who they saw die.
Once a shinki of the Agency gives the god the name of their shinki, the god is then able to find them by name. Once they give their shinki a vessel name the god will have the full vision of how their shinki died.

This addition comes in response to some questions and need for clarification. Apologies and thank you for your input.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

(When she rises, she glances around,)

You... you can use this one for now, if you want.

[Not as strong as Yamamoto's, but then again, it's rare to find anyone with incredible fire like the former head-captain.]

But I'd rather not rely on my ice too often unless I'm fighting.

It can't hurt the ayakashi much anyways, these powers. You need the power from this world to make things really work.

[ He shrugs. ]

Doesn't hurt to get an advantage though.

[There's being a coward, and then there's refraining from doing anything stupid. Toushirou very likely is stronger than him, and he has no idea what his intents are either. It's a pretty good reason not to fight.]

[But if he'll let Emizel get a turn this time, just to make a point... He raised the staff again.]

[An intricate green circle appeared under the demon. He won't try burning Toushirou again, and apparently he knew how to use ice so that won't be too impressive either; so Emizel will have to settle with a blast of wind. It's powerful, heavy. Even if someone does manage not to get blown away they were still at the risk of cuts of various sizes.]

[It's fine, whatever shinki he got is still a mystery to him too.]

--But what if we don't get along at all? I might need to find another!

Junko Enoshima

[So, first things first. This is not Hope's Peak Academy and Junko is a little surprised. As much as she is capable of predicting people's actions and reactions, being dragged from home to...the afterlife isn't really something she's planned for. All those fools she'd made fun of were right.

It's an odd feeling.

And terrible timing. She's dead at the height of her power. Of course, that means that her dear little friends are stuck and her game is still in play. Such a shame.]

Divine Bureaucracy

[Okay, so dead, she can handle that. It's despairingly common, but she never expected to live forever, either. In fact, now that she's dead, she's become a god, both figuratively back home and literally now that she's entered the Heavens. And not just any god. No, she's the destructive face of Vishnu. She's okay with that.

What she's not okay with is the fact that there seems to be a lot of confusion in the people in charge. And she sees that it's worse at the main temple where she's supposed to go to get some training for her new job. (Not that she cares about that, but she wants to see what things are like before she tries to destroy it from the inside.)]

Okay, so what the heck is this? I've seen better organization in a colony of ants.

[Before she stepped on them, but that's not the point, is it?]

Physical Training

[So, shinki crap sorted out, HOURS LATER, Junko now has some boring spear-like lackey. It's so fucking predictable. She used spears to kill her dumb sister back home and now she's stuck with one to fight with.]

I don't really do fighting. What the hell am I supposed to do with this?

I guess you don't have to worry about smoking killing you anymore, huh? [Futaba snickered to herself.]

So what kind of relationships do they have?

Established gods...

[Futaba said this mostly to herself as she looked over in the direction he had indicated and the woman who'd been explaining things earlier. Hmm.]

So, a few months ago, something changed. But no one knows what. And everyone is just going along with hoping that it'll make sense eventually.

[She turned back to him.]

But there's no assurances, right?

[Because Prench is ridiculous.]

I'm not really sure anything is fated. Even if we are hanging out with gods suddenly. I'm more of a make-my-own-path kind of girl.

[Or she hoped she was. And was trying to be.]

But hey it's nice to meet you? What do you know about Phantom Thieves huh?

[ Nanako frowns slightly. ]

I don't know. I'm not sure doing a bad thing for a good reason makes it less bad. But I guess if it makes bad people not bad anymore...

[ This is complicated, when you're six. Somehow, she doesn't think her father would agree that it's a good thing. But would Souji? Maybe she would ask him. ]

[ Nanako's mouth drops open in amazement as she glances around, as if that alone would let her see where that had come from. ]

What's reiatsu?

[ Nanako doesn't look at all convinced. ]

You don't seem alright. Here, sit down. I have some water, will that help?

Did you hurt yourself? I can try and help that, too?

[ He really really is.

And she heard that one, too. You're really bad at this whole not-swearing thing aren't you? ]

Do you get told off by cats lots? Maybe you shouldn't swear in front of them, either. [ But at least he looks sheepish about having failed so Nanako gives him a friendly smile. ]

Don't worry, I won't tell. Are you new? I know some people say bad words a lot when they're scared or mad and a lot of people are both when they first get here, so I guess it's okay this once.

Yeah! I found it by accident because there was a bad ayakashi, but I still found it, at least? And maybe I can stop it next time.....

[ But she takes a moment to focus, her expression very determined, and a moment later a faint glow started to outline her small form before there's a bright flash. A moment later she's floating in front of him, tiny angel wings on her back flapping to keep her aloft and a halo atop her head glinting in the sunlight. ]

Mmm, I didn't for a while, because it took me a long time to figure out what my god power was supposed to be. A lot of the other gods found theirs quickly, but I think mine was hiding. But once I figured it out, it was easier to start going on prayers. Oh and getting a shinki! That helps, too, because if there are bad spirits, you can only take them down together.

[ And in her opinion, Homura was the best, even if she wasn't just her shinki. ]

[ Nanako had arrived in her detective outfit to train today but she's on her way to start her god training when she spots him off to the side, sitting and watching. Since she doesn't recognize him, she pauses before approaching, peering up at him with a curious gaze and a friendly smile. ]

Hi! Are you here for training too? Did you just get here?

[ Yata had noticed this guy earlier because while he didn't exactly stand out, he was unfamiliar and Yata was always on the lookout for someone who was new and interesting. He doesn't seem to take much involvement with the training happening so it's a while before he finally wanders over in his direction, hands tucked behind his head with a lazy sort of interest. ]

So are you gonna keep glaring at everyone here or are you gonna actually do something useful?

[ There's the hug she'd been hoping for and when he scoops her she gives a delighted cry and throws her arms about his neck in an enthusiastic hug. ]

Teddie! You do remember me! I was scared you'd forgotten!

Elvish? Are you a real elf then?

[ Nanako leans forward in fascination, a bright smile on her face as she claps her hands together. She hoped that wasn't a rude question, but the pointed ears thing wasn't as clear a defining trait here as it might be elsewhere. ]

There are lots of people poking each other, isn't there? Were you practicing too?

[The fact that Urashima actually has to think about that doesn't do a great deal to reassure Shun, especially given the air that he doesn't even seem to have considered the issue. With a garden full of vultures, Shun knows pretty well that animals can be hardy as hell, but still, it seems to him kinder to the turtle to keep it somewhere safe for the moment.

Once Urashima puts the turtle aside on the nearby bench, Shun nods slightly, even if he eyes Urashima off a bit for the worried glance. Hopefully it isn't going to distract him more than this.

With that question, Shun drops into a combative stance, ready to begin. He's still a little tired from the lengthy spar he went through earlier, but he learnt plenty from that to put to work here.]

Much. Ready when you are. [His words are curt - it's obvious, in his own way, that he's just as eager to start as Urashima.]

[As they go on, it becomes more and more obvious Shun is an adaptive fighter. Each time he's beaten back, regardless of whether it's brutal or a simple slip up leaving him exposed, he comes back just as hard and with notes picked up from the last fight. Whether it's avoiding certain movements, new ways to strike, parry or evade, or other small details, he begins to put them to work in his own fighting. They're less practiced and polished, and he has to test and tweak a few before he gets them, but if he leaves them out just because of that, he'll never get any better.

Even though Shun has impressive endurance for a human and an inclination not to show it when it starts to wear thin anyway, after the length of time they end up sparring, he's just about spent. Nonetheless, even when Hitsugaya stands back and they draw to that temporary conclusion once more, Shun straightens back up, stepping forward as if to commence again...

...and then his leg caves under him, and he has to use the wooden blade to support himself to avoid completely falling over. He lets out a harsh breath, and finally allows himself the rapid panting for air he probably should've been doing much longer ago than this.

Once he's caught his breath decently, he hisses through his teeth as if dissatisfied with his own perceived lack of endurance.]

...I suppose we can stop now. [It still doesn't sit right having to give up, even if it was technically Hitsugaya who halted before him. Getting to his feet once more, he rakes his sweaty hair away from his face and levels Hitsugaya with a piercing stare.]

You're not human, are you? The last person I fought as fast and resilient as you was a vampire.

[There's a short, vaguely agreeing hum at the mention of it being a pity. It's not really worth dwelling on when it's not going to get answered by doing so anyway, so he doesn't continue the train of thought.

Her question of what he does in his home reality gets a somewhat suspicious glare, though. It's not something he tends to readily share with people unless circumstances demand he does, and he's already considering the least detailed way he can put it.]

I'm a Resistance fighter. [Should be vague enough. There's a guardedness to the answer that says he's not interested in getting any deeper.] You?

I don't really care what other people think I am or not. [It's put very bluntly. There's very few people he actually holds in any regard when it comes to opinions on him, and those tend to only be the ones closest to him.

As for his other question, Shun merely levels him with that same detached glare.]

If you weren't new, you wouldn't have needed to ask me if everyone was this uptight "around here", because you already would have met enough people to answer that question for yourself.

Basically. The people already here don't have much of a choice, because we are replacing disappeared gods somehow, so they have to make space and account for us as much as they can. But you're right in that we have no assurance about whether we'll ever really find out what's going on.

[His tone creeps a bit closer to mutinous at that admission, because it's not one he wants to dwell on too much. He'd much prefer to expect that those dedicated enough to keep looking will run across something before too much longer passes.]

There's also the question of why we've been directed to this particular heaven when most of the gods we're replacing belong to other pantheons. We didn't even have shrines in our gods' original homelands until about a month ago.
