Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.

Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




Divine Bureaucracy

Wasn't it the newly revamped Shinki Agency's job to assign shinki this time... They thought it was the original team of Amaterasu's shinki's job this one last time before Shinki Agency took over the responsibility. Needless to say, when the shinki wake up at the Meeting Hall, there's a lot of shouting. Eventually, one of the Shinki Agency representatives herds the new shinki together and instructs them to please all go to Bishamonten's temple for the time being and they will send a runner with the god-shinki assignments as soon as they can.

New gods and old gods alike will not be notified that there is a mix-up unless they come to Bishamon's temple for Training, until the Shinki Agency can figure out what happened.

Important addendum: For this round, gods still have a vision of how their shinki died, however they can't make out any details, particularly about who they saw die.
Once a shinki of the Agency gives the god the name of their shinki, the god is then able to find them by name. Once they give their shinki a vessel name the god will have the full vision of how their shinki died.

This addition comes in response to some questions and need for clarification. Apologies and thank you for your input.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[He almost feels bad that there's gonna be bad news coming Teddie's way so soon after that. He smiles wryly, shifting uncomfortably as he shoves his hands into his pockets.]

Well, it's good that you remember stuff, but not everyone does. If you ain't a god, you don't remember anything about what came before.

( He came here to have a good time and honestly he feels so attacked right now.

He sees the fist coming right for him before he even has a chance to react. He'd told Shun to use both hands but he didn't expect this. Maybe shove him away or toss him aside but not punch him in the face. He begins to pull away but it isn't fast enough. He's hit right in the nose and he jumps back with a loud, painful yelp. He's still holding onto his sword (he isn't the type to drop his weapon easily) but he's definitely stepping back and holding his face. He's stunned. He absolutely can't believe this happened and he stays crouched over for a second just feeling what happened.

When the shock wears off, he looks at Shun and yells (muffled by his hands) )

Didn't I say to go easy on me?! ( He's touching his nose gingerly now and... ) Is that blood?!

( His nose is bleeding. He's bleeding and-- ) Ow, ow! ( His face hurts. ) Is it broken...? ( It's not. ) I'm broken! ( Not his nose. Him. He's broken. ) You broke me...!

( He's holding his head back now to catch the blood, one hand over his nose still but the other just tenderly tapping away as he tries to feel the the full range of what exactly hurts. He's been tossed onto the floor, slammed through doors, dropped into pools, thrown through walls but he's never been punched in the face before. )

[ Geeze. How is he supposed to not worry when you say all you can do is endure this shit? It kinda ticks him off, but in a sadder way than he was expecting. ]

Can't? Oi, you've got a phone and a voice. If you think you can't do anything on your own, get someone to help you. Even if you have no faith in me, you've got shinki now and people you probably were friends with before.

[ Shizuo knows his voice, and probably his face, is pretty scary right now. Especially with how fragile and scared the girl already was. ]

You're not their shinki. There's nothing about them that you're stuck with dealing.

( Those words catch her by surprise but not in an unpleasant way. She'd said something similar to Takumi when she'd first started. After hitting so many arrows into the ground, she'd finally hit her first target and made sure to thank him for his help. He'd only gotten embarrassed (and perhaps a little happy) and said he'd had nothing to do with it. It's Takumi who inspires her next words to Lavi, )

It's b-because you're a good student.

( When he strings the arrow, she looks over his form and hold carefully and nods her head in approval. He has it and she can't help but think he really is good... She might have to ask Takumi to help. )

I actually haven't met them yet. So everything involving that is a bit of a mystery to me.

[ Ao- Botan thought the best of people, but she could tell that the blonde was grasping at things without a clue of where to start. Botan may be as much of a stranger to herself as she is to Jennifer, but she's at least learned a little about the kind of person she is.

She saw the Naming process as well- Ao has quite a few strokes. ]

[ The oar that she had constantly been manifesting and disappearing during her wait showed up once more in a poof. To which the blue-haired girl took a prompt seat on, offering her hand. ]

They aren't? [Well, that caught Futaba's attention. What could be dangerous to gods?]

How do you mean? What's going on that's dangerous?

Interesting. So can we go there? To these shrines in other countries?

[She'd never actually left Japan, until...well, right now. It was certainly tempting.]

I mean, we can go to the near shore, right? That's what they called it?

[Futaba just made a face at him for that non-answer.]

I guess I'll figure it out once I know who my shinki is.

[herecomethebuffs]

I'm Futaba. It's nice to meet you, Nanako-chan. [Futaba smiled, though it faded a bit.] I'm apparently Theia. She's a greek god of sight. Which, kind of cool? Except for the part where I am replacing someone who vanished without a trace.

[That seemed less good.]

[Likewise, Shun doesn't stop either, especially considering how quickly Yata moves to get out of range. Even if he wasn't inclined to keep moving as much as possible in combat, it's the natural follow-up to landing a decent hit on someone, and Shun has personal experience with how crippling stomach hits can be.

Since Yata's more crouched now, Shun darts forward and aims a side-kick towards his head. He's trying not to give him the recovery time he needs, regardless of whether it actually hits, intending to press the small advantage he's gotten out of that blow.]

Nobody can, but as long as you're getting help, it eases the burden a little. [For a moment or two, he eyes Izuku as if he's making doubly sure he's actually getting help, and as if he could actually see that just by looking at him.]

Are you still trying to sleep, or are you avoiding it? [Read: Do what Shun says, not what he does.]

[Shun's eyes narrow a little at the amusement, but it's not an offended look so much as just trying to discern what's so amusing. He leaves it aside for the moment, anyway, shrugging a little at the proposition.]

I already spar regularly, so I'll be ready whenever you're available. Not much point leaving it when it's wasting time I could be using to improve.

[If nothing else, he's diligent. Letting time he could be putting to use slip by isn't something he makes a habit of.]

[Perhaps adding insult to injury, Shun keeps moving after that punch, as if he expects them to still continue - being yelled at stops him short, though, if looking a little bemused by the reaction. He's having a bit of trouble telling whether that indicates they're taking a time out here, but once Urashima starts complaining about the pain, he figures they are, and with a mild sigh of annoyance, he lets his sword down to his side.]

I never agreed to go easy on you. [It's not the kind of thing he does unless his opponent is markedly less skilled than him, and even then, it's generally just an agreement he won't do them any major injury. Urashima is obviously good with his weapon and had been going strongly, if more competitive than Shun's flat seriousness, so he hadn't felt the need to ease up.

As Urashima keeps right on fussing about it, Shun lets out another short breath.] You're overreacting. And even if it was broken, breaking your nose doesn't mean you're broken.

[Somewhat cautiously, he steps forward. He half expects Urashima to retaliate if he tries getting too close, but it seems smarter to him to get a visual opinion on the damage.] If you move your hands, I can see if it's actually that bad.

You should be able to teleport to any of your shrines on the Near Shore from your shrine here. That's how it works for everyone else.

[Granted, Shun's shrine in Egypt was kind of in the middle of nowhere, but others might have an easier time of it than having to immediately teleport again to the nearest major city or walk hours through the desert.]

The shrines are your main point of travel between the Far and Near Shore, so with your god you'd mainly be able to explore Japan and Greece.

Hmmmm. Interesting. I am definitely going to Greece and getting lunch. [She snickered under her breath.] Just to see what the food is!

[Her fear of people temporarily put aside by her curiosity it seemed. Also the fact that those people aren't nearby.]

Do you go there much? To the other world?

Oh dear. haha.

[Futaba was terrible at hiding her emotions, so there was, at various times, concern, confusion, perhaps a hint of light fear, and then something like accusatory curiosity across her face as she listened to Hibiki talk.]

...How do you know all that?

[Because that seemed really, really specific to her own life and it was all really not public information at all...]

Hmm... I wonder what the distinction is that allows us to take on their mantles here, then. They aren't worshiped directly, but do they receive prayers and deliver blessings on God's behalf? Perhaps that has something to do with it.

It's not too bad. I get competitive pay, flex hours, days off whenever I want 'em...

You'll have to catch the attention of the people over there. Near Shore residents don't see us easily, but something like a tap on the shoulder or whatever else gets their attention long enough to do things like make an order or ask a question, at least.

[While Shun doesn't really consider it another world so much as just another face of this one, he inclines his head slightly, not looking particularly enamoured with the idea.]

I have a job there, for one thing, and obviously people have to get food and other necessities somehow. Some temples seem to provide it, some don't, but I don't trust the food here anyway.
