[Closed] A Gathering of Thieves
Who: The Phantom Thieves and their Shinki
What: Information Sharing.
Where: The Far Shore, the Park
When: July 26th, Late Afternoon
Summary: 3 new gods arrive to find that 2 of their closest friends are dead, and they are responsible
for two other people as well. A talk is needed.
Warnings: Major Persona 5 Spoilers in comments, also probably language.
[Arriving here with little warning had been jarring enough, but when the Phantom Thieves realized that they weren't alone, and that two of their number had no memories, it was time to confer somewhere. Temples and the like had felt a little raw, and not wanting to stray too far from the Far Shore until they had their bearings, the group had gathered in the park. Akira, Ann, Futaba, Makoto, and Ryuji, along with the shinki that had unwittingly become part of their circle, all standing around in a small clearing, talking. It should've been a positive occasion, but there was no denying the shroud that hung over the group. There was a lot to talk about, and things that needed to be agreed upon.
The question was...how to even start?]

No, it's not fair, but you have to keep your voice down or things will get a lot worse. I heard what happens if we tell them about their past. We cannot allow that to happen.
[Slumping angrily against a tree, arms folded belligerently across her chest, she practically growls out...]
We have to keep our heads on straight, and watch what we say even more closely than normal. While protecting each other and the other Shinki too.
[Her eyes drift over towards Mabel now, attention lingering a little longer.]
Even the ones who aren't Phantom Thieves. They may as well be now.
no subject
[She made a frustrated noise under her breath, glancing over at her own Shinki. The soulless woman was standing outside of the clearing where Futaba had left her, as if it no time had passed at all.]
Not sure mine counts.
[She finally said, turning to look back at the other two gods. Gods. They were gods. How weird was that?]
no subject
[He's snippy and doesn't even care at this point, but Ryuji's gaze follows Futaba's in the direction of the woman standing in the distance, eyes lingering on them but not really watching them at all from the looks of it. She's been creeping him out since they got here, and this is definitely not helping her case any. It's like she's barely even human...]
Uh, how long has she been like that? Just standin' around not sayin' anything?
no subject
Has she said anything all? Does she...even have emotions?
no subject
[Futaba looked over at the woman again, her gaze thoughtful, then back to the other two new gods.]
She reminds me a little bit of the shadow-people from people's palaces. Just going through the motions without it meaning anything.
no subject
[Well, if no one else is gonna say it out loud... But Ryuji doesn't wanna talk about creepy soulless shinki anymore because it feels like she's watching them and it's making the short little blond hairs on the back of his neck stand on end.
Gonna cut right to the chase.]
So, uh. Does anyone got some kinda plan about what we're gonna do?
no subject
Well the obvious plan is figure out how to get home. Sojiro is probably freaking out right now that I've disappeared.
no subject
That's right. The goal is to return home, as quickly as possible. Which means we're going to need to play along with what...Heaven...wants for us right now, I think. If they suspect we're not doing our duty, I've heard they may chastise us, and I don't want them digging too deeply into our affairs if we can avoid it. Plus these monsters do sound like something we'd want to deal with. I know I do.
[She hunkers down not far from Futaba, voice lowering a little.]
We're going to need to work as a team, just like home. All seven of us. So, ideally we set up a meeting place in the Near Shore. Earth. Since the three of us can travel freely, it shouldn't be hard.
no subject
He notices their exasperated sighs and tones but he's gotten pretty good at ignoring them by now, so he clicks his tongue in frustration instead at the next part, his own expression and voice sour.]
Tch. How do we even know we got a home to go back to? Last I checked, everythin' was goin' to hell.
no subject
Uh. [Futaba frowned at Ryuji.] Pretty sure we saved the world before I wound up here, you know. Sojiro is probably already looking for me. Us.
Mostly me.
no subject
[He protests openly and dumbfounded because Ryuji remembers things a little differently, and if his vision of Ann's death isn't a sign of that, he doesn't know what is.]
Shibuya became the Metaverse. Last thing I remember, we were all disappearin' and then I woke up here.
no subject
[Makoto fixates on that point, crossing her arms and looking at the pair of them wide-eyed. That's the first she's heard of that.]
That last thing I remember was waking up on Christmas Morning. After we defeated Yaldabaoth.
no subject
Well the last thing I remember is going home after we saved everything and made the metaverse disappear and the super egotistical holy grail go poof.
[Admittedly that last bit had been mostly their leader. But they'd helped!]
Didn't get to Christmas morning though, so, Makoto's got a little time on me I guess.
no subject
[He's able to at least give the two of them a crooked smile, because there's something positive that came out of everything they've done.]
Least we know that we made it out of there for you guys.
[Although the way he gazes off into the distance where his eyes wander and fall on Ann, who is resting on a bench next to Shion tells a different story. He's worried about her and what his vision of her death meant and it's been playing over in his head since he met her at training earlier.]
no subject
[Her eyes follow his to Ann, shutting with a pained wince. That smiling face, that warm, beautiful person...a friend. Just...sitting there with no idea where she'd come from or what her life had been. It'd nearly broken her before, with Akira, and it threatened to break her again when she really looked at Ann. But she held herself in check for now.]
Yeah. We won.
[And that's at least something, but...there's another thing worth bringing up.]
Can either of you feel your Persona, here?
no subject
Yeah, I can. And yours too, both of you. I can feel Akira and Ann also.
[Benefits of being a Navi.]
It's weird to do when we aren't in the metaverse but...it feels normal otherwise.
no subject
[In front of a whole bunch of people, on top of it. Please don't yell at him.
He finally peels his eyes away from Ann to look at the other two to make a quick and fumbling clarification:]
T-totally on accident, though. Didn't know it'd even work since this ain't the Metaverse, far as I know.
no subject
[She holds up her hand, a glowing ball of that weird radiation magic she could produce forming at her palm.]
We're still Phantom Thieves though, and that's something we'll need to keep secret.
no subject
[So was Futaba really.]
I'm just amazed they work here! It's... [She tapped her fingers on her laptop, trying to think of the right word.] Reassuring. Or maybe comforting? To know they're there if we need them.
no subject
[... There can only be one set of Phantom Thieves. His frown is deep at that. He isn't sure he agrees with it being comforting or reassuring.]
Didn't tell you who they were? Names or anythin'?
no subject
[Because that. That...makes her zero in. And zero in hard.]
no subject
And no, no names or anything. I mean I didn't share any either obviously. Just said I was a fan.
no subject
[Her eyes go a little wide and she finds herself fingering a card in her pocket.]
She...was. She was...hitting on me earlier.
no subject
[He's obviously missed something real important here, and Ryuji looks between Futaba and Makoto, confused.]
Someone hit on you, Makoto!? And I missed it!?
no subject
Did she? [She leans forward.] How did that make you feel, huh?
