[Closed] A Gathering of Thieves

Summary: 3 new gods arrive to find that 2 of their closest friends are dead, and they are responsible
for two other people as well. A talk is needed.

[Arriving here with little warning had been jarring enough, but when the Phantom Thieves realized that they weren't alone, and that two of their number had no memories, it was time to confer somewhere. Temples and the like had felt a little raw, and not wanting to stray too far from the Far Shore until they had their bearings, the group had gathered in the park. Akira, Ann, Futaba, Makoto, and Ryuji, along with the shinki that had unwittingly become part of their circle, all standing around in a small clearing, talking. It should've been a positive occasion, but there was no denying the shroud that hung over the group. There was a lot to talk about, and things that needed to be agreed upon.

The question was...how to even start?]

[Mabel's efforts hadn't gone unnoticed, of course. Makoto had been watching cautiously, out of the corner of her eye, just seeing what the girl got up to. Honestly, she wasn't sure why she'd been partnered with her, given what she had gleaned from her personality through memory and observation but her heart did reach out to the poor thing.

She's dead. So young, and she deserves so much better than me was her only thought as she approached, holding out a packet of well...something she liked.]

This may help. It's just some dried squid I found, but it might take your mind off your troubles until we can properly eat.

[As Mabel eventually landed on the ground from exhaustion, she started panting!]

That's it, I can't take it anymore! Just let me take a break already!

[And just like that, her prayers have been answered! When she saw Makoto coming in with some snacks on her way.]

Dried squid? Well, don't mind if I do! Thanks, Makoto, you're really nice!

[Snacks are the least of Makoto's kindnesses, but score, her first prayer answered. This is at least something somewhat healthy.]

I try, Mabel-chan.

[Holding it out, she rubs the back of her neck a little awkardly.]

So...you and I...I guess we'll be working together. Does that frighten you?

[Without another moment to lose, the young girl quickly opened the packet and started munching right away!]

Nah, not really! I'm kind of excited, it'll be great knowing that I can be a cool super hero doing something to help people out! Why would that scare me?

[She said before handing the packet toward Makoto. Does she want some too?]

Well...

[Because you're dead? No, that's not a good reason. Because the monsters are scary? No...well, you're ead, so that doesn't make sense either.

Waving the food away, Makoto frowns and considers how best to actually answer that.]

It might be dangerous, at least. But I guess if you're that confident about it, we'll work well together.

Of course, I know I want to work with you! It'll be great with the three of us battling and looking awesome!

[She said with a huge smile on her face!]

And before you know it, we'll be the cream of the crops too!

[Smiling awkwardly, she rubs Mabel's head and sighs. Yeah. Headpats.]

Something like that, I suppose.

[She chuckles a little to herself.]

I guess this means Ryuji, Futaba, and I will have to induct you into the Phantom Thieves.

[Good thing Mabel doesn't mind head pats! In fact, she just giggled! Although, she does have to raise an eyebrow or two]

Phantom thieves, what's that?

[You see those eyes? That is the look of a 13 year old whose eyes are gleaming! Does this mean she gets to be part of a super team of sorts? Was her dreams of being a superhero finally coming true after all??]

[Good. She's going to get a lot of them.]

They're what the three of us are. Thieves for Justice. We help right wrongs and fight against corruption and injustice wherever we find it.

[And no need to mention the cognitive world, yet.]

I'll have to talk to them about how to go about it though. Not everyone's here, and that means making adjustments to the rules, you understand.

So pretty much, we are going to be superheros fighting evil and make sure that love conquers all!

[Yes, that's what she is going with.]

But that's okay though, right? Even if we have to make adjustments, we'll just have to be super sneaky about it! Anything to help and solve crimes around here!

[Love conquers all huh? That's a new one on her.]

Mabel. You are a delight.

[Makoto smiles fondly, her face breaking a little, that stern mask just...crushed.]

However, I'm going to say this once. Nobody outside of the people here can know about the Phantom Thieves unless we tell you otherwise. We have to keep it a secret, okay?

[What's this? Mabel was able to break her stern mask?? Was the power of Mabel finally able to compel her after all? Who knows but it doesn't stop the girl from giggling!]

You got it! I'll be sure to keep my mouth shut and lock away the key!

[She said before zipping her lip and throwing said invisible key away!]

See? Totally locked! [Or at least, whatever Makoto could hear as Mabel kept her mouth shut!]

Good. I really appreciate that, Mabel.

[The Power of Mabel is mighty indeed. Enough so that she gets a hug from the older girl.]

I'm really glad we met, though I wish it were under better circumstances.

[In that moment, the smile on Mabel's face kind of dampened a bit. While Mabel wasn't one to really think about the past, she couldn't help but ponder a little]

Yeah but the important thing is that we're going to have a lot of fun, right? And that we should show those in charge whose boss and that we're not going to take it!

[Despite her words, it was clear that she was thinking about something else]

[Smiling, she looks down into Mabel's eyes.]

We were talking about a trip to Greece soon. Since we can teleport. I've always wanted to see Crete.

Crete?

[She said with a raised eyebrow]

I wonder what's over there anyway. But whatever it might be, I'm sure it's going to be gcrete!

[Mabel, no!]

Oh yeah, I think I've heard of that place before! Still no idea what goes on over there but I still hope that it's going to be a lot of fun!
