Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[This is all very new to Mikaela. After all-- this was Held's territory. Though she had heard prayers offered to him before, it had never been her place to answer. Truthfully she doesn't understand why she was chosen. But she will do her best.

There are two things of interest to her. First and foremost is the godly power that was bestowed upon her. Taking a knife that had been prepared for those who wished to train in battle, she instead points it at herself; making a light cut down her arm, into her own flesh. It's enough to produce a small line of red and a few drops of blood. But almost as soon as the blade is pulled back, the cut tapers and quickly heals; the cells in her body seeming to automatically reverse the damage.

Her eyes widen as she watches in awe.]

I suppose there's no doubting it... I've changed.

[The second is new knowledge. About what she is to do, who she is and how she can help others. Anyone who seems knowledgeable will be approached with a smile. It's certainly nice not being alone in this process.]

It's a lot to take in, isn't it? Even though I've been close to a god before... it's very different when everyone's looking to you. I hope I can live up to their expectations.

[ Because she knows that she's overdone it before, Mikaela is careful to take breaks. In fact-- she'll also take time to deliver drinks to others who are hard at work training.

She always returns to the garden, enjoying the beautiful rest area while she re-hydrates. If you join her though she'll gladly strike up a conversation. Even if she seems distracted and peaceful, as soon as she turns her eyes on you, she becomes focused and friendly. ]

[Maria's been trying to brush up on her hand-to-hand again, since she's much more used to wielding a sword, and she's stepped out of the thick of things to recoup herself for a few minutes. It's during that time she comes across Mikaela while admiring the garden herself, and while she doesn't speak initially, assuming the girl wants some peace and quiet, once Mikaela initiates conversation, Maria turns a light smile on her.]

It is. This isn't the first time I've seen it, but I like to take time out to take a look whenever I'm here. There's quite a few lovely gardens around the Heavens.

Before I came here, I wasn't really able to travel much. At one time I didn't even think much of the idea of staying one place for the rest of my life. [Before she knew what she was really missing out there.] But now I think it would be nice if I could see as much as I can before I leave.

[Mikaela doesn't know how long she'll be here, but thinking that she might not ever get another chance like it-- the experience feels special.]

That sounds like a shame, but I'm glad you're giving yourself the opportunity to do it here. [There's a very genuine note to her expression and tone as she says that.] I already travelled a lot back home, but I was always too busy to really appreciate it - I was a famous idol singer and had another job on top of that. Being here gives me the time to stop and see what else there is to it.

[Her old job doesn't usually come up this early, but it's hard to press exactly how run off her feet she tended to be in her own world without mentioning it.]

Back home I was a spirit of the forest. One of many, really, but I was the eyes of the god that lived there. So for many, many years I didn't have any reason to think about the world outside of the forest. But then-- I met someone. I became genuinely curious, and I was given an opportunity to do something for him outside the forest. Because of that I may have actually changed a lot.

[Nothing that she'd consider bad, really. In fact, Mikaela liked being closer to humans. Considering, then, what Maria said made Mikaela smile.]

Really? In my world, music and magic are tied to one another. I'd love to hear one of your songs sometime.

Almost everyone's changed in a way the minute they arrive here.

[ Despite being a shinki, she tends to linger around both areas during these training sessions. But she does offer a smile back, adjusting the towel around her shoulders. ]

It can be pretty intimidating during the first month or so. Does this mean you're new?

Really?

[Mikaela considers it and that just makes the world she stepped into seem even more vast than she initially thought. Though she'd probably have that thought a lot more before she actually realized just how big a world really was.]

Yes, I just arrived actually. So there's a lot I still have to learn.

At least that's what I've come to realize. Either as a god or a shinki.

[ But those, you end up getting used to over time. ]

I'm certain you'll acclimate soon enough.

Have you been here a long time?

[Long is relative. At the very least, it seems like the other girl had given this sort of thing some thought.]

I hope I can learn quickly. If I'm going to be a god, then-- I want to be one worthy of the people who take the time to pray to me.

[That's what she's picked up from her time with the god she served back home.]

[Dust doesn't normally wander into god training areas, not being one himself -- but the sight of a drawn weapon out of the corner of his eye, followed by the way the girl cuts herself, can't help but haul his attention over forcibly. By the time he's halfway to her, though, she's already healed, turning his dash into a slower approach.]

...I'm going to assume you're all right, but that was -- maybe there are better ways to test that?

[Oh right. It occurs to her a little late what the sight must look like, so she smiles apologetically.]

Sorry. Yes, I'm fine. After hearing what my abilities should be now, I wanted to be sure, but I'm not much of a fighter and I didn't want to try anything too dangerous. Luckily it seems the powers they've given me work just fine.

I haven't heard anyone complain they don't, but I guess it's something else to test and see for yourself.

You're a new god, then. [That's easy enough to tell. She was told about her powers, after all.]

[Okay, that is not something you see every day. Nari just stops and stares as the girl cuts herself and is about to offer help when the wound heals. Well then...]

Uh... yeah. But please don't tell me you can sprout claws from your knuckles, cuz I ain't ready for that.

[Mikaela laughs, caught off guard by the reaction. However-- that smile of hers...]

That depends on your definition of "claws". If a small bird's talons count, then I suppose I'd have to say yes.

Unless you can turn into a bird, I'm guessing you're either messing with me, or you're def not human.

[Mikaela laughs. The reminder-- she probably needed it.]

I've done that before, actually. As much as I'd like to learn things quickly, I should be careful not to overdo it.

[Nike has been laying down onto the garden's soft grass and flowers in an attempt to better connect with her surroundings at the Far Shore. No matter how much it's in the world of the non-living, unlike the Near Shore, she can still feel and sense her surroundings, even if it is weaker in strength.

All of her concentration in her surroundings may have relaxed her enough to convince her to nap for a bit, so when she opens her eyes, there will be someone close by. A girl in green which was an interesting color on someone. Tilting her head a bit, she'll watch her curiously.]

It really is! It's actually one of the main reasons I decided to return here. Other than training, I wanted to see this place again.

[Sitting up, while her legs remain on her side, she'll wonder.]

Taking a break too?

Yes. I'm trying not to push myself too hard on the first day.

[And that's harder than it looks. Or might have been if there wasn't so much to see. In the end, finding a small distraction for a little while hadn't been so hard after all. There's very little harm in getting to know her surroundings as well as the other people living here a little better too; beyond just that of her powers and duties. So that's what she's doing. At least-- that's one thing to call it.

Smiling, Mikaela takes a seat on the grass next to the girl, folding her legs under her. It looked comfortable, if the other girl was any indication, having just woken from a short nap. Mikaela had thought she looked so peaceful. And now that she's sitting, she has to admit it is very soft. It's nice being so close to the earth.]

I'm glad I got to see it. But it feels like everything I see is just a little bit more amazing than the last. I don't know how I'll keep up.

[It's so different from her forest, or even the human towns and villages.]

Good idea! And welcome, by the way.

[It was always odd to see new arrivals since it's the first time for her to meet one. She didn't expect more to arrive so soon. Then again, she really didn't know the timing of these things just yet.

Even so, she'll continue to smile happily upon getting the chance to greet someone new, just like many people did before her. It was exciting for her because it's proving the length of time she's been in this world for.]

You'll be even more amaze after exploring the Near Shore. It's a pretty big town! There's a lot of people and things you can do there. Like, you can eat, shop, and play all types of different games. [Shaking her head a bit.] No, there's so much more you can do. I'm still exploring and finding new things. It's a lot of fun to visit.

No, you're right. That was foolish. Still... I thought it would be better to test it carefully then have to find out some other way.

[She wasn't sure what she expected.]

It stings a little. But not too much.

[Well, the reasoning makes sense.] You may be right about that... [No sense in not being careful, after all.]

It's good that it doesn't hurt much, but what were you testing?

[Chikusa, clad in a furry little leopard print beanie, had simply wanted to escape from too many people with a book on shinki magic in his hands. Of course, in the end, that's apparently a little too much to ask for, and he pauses as he's addressed.]

....I suppose so. But it does belong to an old god, so...
