July Training
Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: August 5
Where: Bishamon's temple, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki

The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.
The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training
- Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.
Shinki Training
- Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.
Physical Training
- The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.
Rest and Refreshments
- There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.
There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
- Get all the information you can handle
- Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
- Get in some training
- Don't get dehydrated
- Spectate if you want
- Have fun~
physical training!
So when someone approaches to ask the question Yosuke's been pondering for a while, he jumps a bit - but not in a bad way.]
Dude, that's what I wanna know! [He grins, glancing back at the assorted weapons longingly.] I mean, wouldn't it be cool to try out some of those? Just look at those swords!
no subject
They do look pretty cool... I wonder if they can even tell whether someone is a god or shinki. We all look the same to me? Maybe we should just try it!
no subject
[Yosuke's excitement only grows when he notices the other shares his sentiment. So, emboldened by the acquisition of a partner-in-crime, he takes a step further in - towards the weapon-racks.]
I betcha they can't tell! I mean, I met a few gods earlier, and they looked basically just like you and me.
[He glances back at the other with a wink.] So... I won't say I word if you won't. Deal?
no subject
And we are supposed to be here to help our god. That includes protection, so it would only be that much better the more we know how to fight.
[Rationalization complete, he grins and flashes a thumbs-up, then makes for as nonchalant a walk as he can for one of those swords. It feels strange in his hands, and it's completely exhilarating.
He takes a few steps back and shifts into a guarding stance facing his new friend.]
Spar you?
no subject
Snatching up a two-handed sword that was quite clearly too heavy for him to handle (but also too cool to ignore as far he was concerned), Yosuke takes a stance a little distance from his 'opponent'.] You're on. Just don't complain when I beat ya!
[With that, he takes a step forward and swings the heavy practice blade-- only to nearly fall on his face from the momentum of the swing.]
no subject
Don't be too rough on me! I'm not-- whoa! Are you okay?
[That must be a really heavy weapon.]
no subject
Yosuke groans and picks himself up, swaying a little as he tries to find his balance again.]Y-yeah, 'course I'm okay! [Kinda. His pride got pretty wounded.] I was just--- testing your reflexes.
[Please don't question it.
He turns around, holding the sword with both hands as steadily as he can this time. At least his confidence didn't go anywhere.] Your turn! Come at me. I promise not to be too rough.
no subject
Okay... Here I go!
[He readies himself and moves. And once he takes that step forward, instincts from fights he can't remember take over. His handling of the sword is amateurish, and the force of his swing comparatively weak. But he moves with the speed and precision of one who, gifted with a smaller and more easily wielded weapon, would be dangerous indeed.]
ack sorry for the wait!
W-whoa, dude! How'd you do that? [He lowers his weapon once he's safe, his arms hurting from the weight of it.] You didn't tell me you'd done stuff like this before. You're fast!
happens to me too! no worries :3
Am I? I... didn't really know. I didn't think it was very good.
[The guy seemed to at least have better balance this time, maybe because he wasn't trying to swing that giant sword quite the same way. This prompts Omi to realize he doesn't know the other as anything more than 'the guy.' That should probably be fixed. He sheepishly grins.]
I'm Omi, by the way.
no subject
[He walks back to the weapon racks, discarding his own heavy blade while at it. Instead, he weighs a dagger in his hand.] Wanna try something lighter next? That thing killed my shoulders.
[He gives the other room to pick, then grins.] Oh, and it's Yosuke. Nice to meetcha, man.
no subject
Nice to meet you, too. I think trying something lighter is a good idea. Let's see...
[He replaces the sword and picks up a sai.]
Okay, come at me!
