July Training

Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: August 5
Where: Bishamon's temple, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki

The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
  • Get all the information you can handle
  • Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
  • Get in some training
  • Don't get dehydrated
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

[Given his thoughts about certain people becoming gods and others like himself being relegated to shinki, Munakata feels somewhat flattered when questioned about being a god.

Wearing an indecipherable smile, he turns to the younger man. In a polite but possibly teasing tone,
]

It'd save some trouble for the both of us if I were, wouldn't it?
trashcrash: (yeah dont think thats how it works)

[Out of all the people Yosuke has grabbed so far, this guy certainly seems the most god-like or whatever - all the way to his enigmatic words and a matching expression that leaves Yosuke baffled.]

I- I mean... yeah. [It certainly would save trouble for him. He's not sure what the guy means beyond that though, or what he should say in response, so he just... blurts out something and hopes it suffices.] ... Would it?

[Okay, maybe not that. That's not a useful question.]

But you... are a god, right?

[That's better.]

[What an endearing reaction! Munakata wonders how he might respond if he actually were a god. Then, he wonders how any other god here might respond to the situation.

His expression shifts from unreadable to somewhat amused and pleased, his tone calm and patient,
]

Is that what you think? [Or is he asking just anyone? If so, the situation has become slightly less flattering.] I wonder. How do you envision a god?
trashcrash: (ohh right thats a thing)

[Yosuke's not sure whether to think the sudden change in the other's expression as a positive thing or not, but he is fairly certain of one thing, now; this guy can only talk in riddles.]

Uh... [How does he envision a god? And why is he even answering, when the guy's so obviously messing with him?!] I used to think you'd know when you saw one. That they looked different and divine somehow, you know? Then I met a bunch of guys here who were gods but didn't really look like it. [Some of them were his age or younger, too.]

So I don't think you can tell for sure by just looking. But... if someone obviously looks like one, I figured...

[He feels increasingly unsure now, until he's forced to mumble a surprised:]

... You... really aren't one, are you?

[What an endearing response.]

Flattering as it is to be likened to a god... [He tugs at the cravat at his neck, pulling it just enough that the sliver of his shinki name can be seen on his jugular.]

You unfortunately were mistaken.

[If he were more apologetic for attempting to mislead the young man further, now would be the time to express it. However, Munakata does no such thing.]

Allow me to introduce myself: Reisi Munakata, a shinki in the service of Shun Kurosaki, incarnation of the Egyptian god Nekhbet.

[A beat.]

And you are?
trashcrash: (whoa wait)

Damnit...

[Yosuke hangs his head in defeat. Man, figures the guy was just messing with him. Just when he thought for sure he was right, too.

At least he came to the right conclusion in the end.]

Man, if you're really a shinki, I can only imagine what your god's like. [Yosuke has no problem saying it out loud, probably because his expression's already betrayed as much. He has no idea what sort of a god Nekhbet is... but he bets it's something awe-inspiring.

Then he realizes he's asked a question, and for some reason, he finds himself bowing as he rushes to answer.]
Oh, uh, Hanamura Yosuke! Nice to... meet you.

The pleasure is mine, Hanamura-kun.

[He lets out a small, amused chuckle. The younger shinki still managed to flatter him with his ideas of what a god must be like. Reisi thinks that's a great way to envision a god; he himself might want to live up to that.]

So you're still seeking out your god, then?
