July Training
Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: August 5
Where: Bishamon's temple, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki

The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.
The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training
- Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.
Shinki Training
- Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.
Physical Training
- The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.
Rest and Refreshments
- There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.
There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
- Get all the information you can handle
- Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
- Get in some training
- Don't get dehydrated
- Spectate if you want
- Have fun~

It's not your fault, man. [And he means it. He was the one who stopped a random stranger and then shouted at them. Come on, you're making him feel even worse by being so considerate!
And by-- ] Wait! [He raises a surprised hand in front of him, pointing.] So you mean that you are-- But I thought... that they would at least have some sort of an aura or something?! [Well, to be fair, this guy does kinda radiate kindness, but that's not---
Man, does he feel like an idiot.]
Agh, sorry, guess I just... expected something less human-looking.
no subject
Aah, they don’t make it very easy, do they? Sorry...
[ Also consider that he isn’t one of Those Gods who goes around telling everyone who he is. But, on that note, an introduction of some variety is in order here, no less. He’ll extend a hand-- ]
I’m Tatara Totsuka, incarnation of Minerva. [ Yes, he’s a male incarnation of a known goddess. It doesn't matter to him a bit. ]
And you are...?
no subject
Speaking of rude, Yosuke doesn't quite manage to catch himself before the inevitable question has already left him:] Minerva? But isn't she a... [Girl?
Just in case, he looks the guy up and down, before he remembers he's supposed to offer his own name in return.]
... Oh! Right, err... [Sheepish, he clears his throat and refocuses his gaze on the guy's face.] I'm Yosuke. Yosuke Hanamura, though I heard I'd... get a new name from my god or something?
no subject
So--...er, eh heh. [ Nice catch, Tatara. Almost blew it there.
As for the goddess thing, don’t think he doesn’t notice that very obvious once-over. Yes, he’s a man, all man, and that’s quite possibly the rudest comment on this topic he’s ever had, (so really, he’s doing quite well for himself, by that marker). ]
Nice to meet you, Yosuke. [ A two-fingered wave and a wink. ] And don’t sweat it -- they’ll give you a vessel name when you meet.
no subject
Eventually.]Yeah, nice to meetcha, man! [He offers a nod for the wave, and for what it's worth, he doesn't just say that to be courteous. Somehow, the guy's laid-backness is... contagious.
So when Tatara tells him not to sweat it, Yosuke almost doesn't.]
Man, they better pick something cool. [He almost wants to say he doesn't want to be stuck with a girly name or something but--- too soon?] What kinda names do people usually get?
no subject
...You almost wouldn’t believe he’s one of the three heads of the most fearsome, volatile clan in all of Shizume City. Especially if you met the other two first. Whoops. ]
Aah, my two are Tomoki and Hakki. [ So, ‘friend’ and ‘display’, respectively. Which definitely says a bit about each of them, even if hakki is the name Sakon had when this incarnation of Minerva inherited him, obviously given to him by Tonatiuh before his murder. (Which means Johan gave him that name. For that reason alone, Tatara won’t change it; even if it’s odd of him to still cling to these little pieces of the deceased god.) ]
I’m sure you can work with your god to come up with something you like! [ He waves a hand. ] Most gods aren’t uptight about it. [ ...but how many gods does Tatara really hang around with? Yosuke’s experience may vary. ]
no subject
They're... simpler than I thought, but still pretty cool. [In all honesty, he expected some elaborate superhero names like Spiderman or Demolition Master or something.
... In retrospect, yes, he does feel silly about it. But since most of the gods' names have been foreign-!]
Hmm, guess I better start thinking up some options then. [Is what he says, but he falls silent right after, until--]
... Man, naming yourself is actually pretty tough. And sort of awkward. Which is strange, right? It's just a name, how much does it really matter?
[Surprisingly lot, actually. He doesn't wanna be stuck with something uncool.]
no subject
Yosuke also wouldn’t be the first to expect cooler, more complicated names, either. But, they are what they are! So Tatara coolly waits as Yosuke abruptly apparently goes down the path of thinking over names, only to turn up empty-handed. ]
It’s fine if you can’t think of anything! Don’t sweat it! [ Tatara waves a hand. ]
I bet it’ll come to you when you’re not thinking of it. If not, then your god might have some ideas, too!
no subject
I just don't wanna be a burden and make them do all the work, you know? [He shakes his head. His god's stuck with him whether they want to or not, so at least he could help the process along a little.
Still, he does have another reason as well, and upon announcing it, he grins.] And, dude, how often do you get pick your own name? It's like a once in a lifetime chance. You don't wanna screw that up.
[He crosses is arms.] I mean, wouldn't you wanna pick the best name possible for yourself?
no subject
[ Conclusion: just work together with them on it, Yosuke! And everything will work out just fine. ]
Besides, I've not met a god yet who considered naming their shinki a burden. There are other parts that are... [ how should he put this, delicately? ] ...less fun. But naming usually isn't one of them.
no subject
... That... probably isn't a very good attitude to have, huh.
That aside, Yosuke does not miss the slight pause in Tatara's speech, and there's no way he's not going to ask about it.] Parts that are less fun? Dude, the way you said that is...
[Worrying? To put it lightly.]
What... are those other parts?
no subject
[ But he can't omit and backpedal out of this one now, can he? Nope.
...Doesn't mean he has to say exactly what first came to mind though, either. ]
Mm, well, when you meet a shinki for the first time, they are always a stranger to you. [ He doesn't mention how gods get acquainted with their shinki way too closely right off the bat, naturally. ] That stranger becomes your roommate, among other things.
[ Yeah! That's all he was talking about! ]
Sometimes it works out! Others, well... [ Tatara shrugs helplessly. ]
