Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[ Nanako had actually come here looking for someone else and to maybe see if she could sneak in some of her archery practice, but the shinki that normally taught her wasn't as easy to find today, so she'd spent more time hunting him than actually doing anything productive so far.

Having come to the refreshment area thinking he might be here, who she finds instead has her stopping in tracks in surprise.

And then Yosuke turns to her with no recognition and asks her that and she just stands there frozen for a moment, too caught off guard to hide it right away. Her mouth drops open as her train of thought sort of sputters to a stop and she can only stare at the teen. Of course Naoto had come here in a similar fashion, but this was Yosuke! This... that couldn't be right! ]

Ahhh...?!

[Yosuke really should have paid better attention to his surroundings, especially when asking stupid questions from complete strangers. Alas, he only realizes that the target of his idle bathroom small-talk is a small child when it's way too late and the question has already left him.

His reaction is panicked and immediate.]

C-crap, did you hear all that?! [Well, obviously she did, why else would she look so distraught?! Ugh, he mentioned death so casually too!]

I-- I'm sorry, just please forget that! Look, um... [Fumbling to find a different topic, Yosuke throws away the banana he's holding and rummages through the fruit bowl until he can produce an apple.] Y-you tried these yet? They're really delicious!

[ When he starts flailing over what she might have heard - which hadn't really mattered in light of the fact that he's a shinki, Nanako is quick to look apologetic and lifts her hands to wave at that dismissively. ]

No! It's okay, I just.... You surprised me. Are you... new? [ She knew the answer to that, but just as he'd fumbled for a fruit to cover her embarrassment, she scrambles for some way to hide what had actually surprised her.

Still, she smiles at him when he holds out an apple. ] Nope, not yet! Are they good?

[trashcrash]

Y-yeah, I'm new. Just arrived today, heh. [The small chuckle is as awkward as one would expect, and the fact that he's still holding onto the apple like an idiot certainly doesn't help.

But... damn, she's one thoughtful kid. Even after his plunder, she's trying to be nice and understanding and go along with his abrupt change of subject. Her parents must be really proud of a girl like--- oh. Wait.

The thought hits him like a mallet. There's no way a girl so young can be a god, so if she's here, then doesn't that mean that she's-- dead too?! That's... how in the world is that fair?!]

Ah, yeah... [Realizing he's been quiet for a while, Yosuke quickly tries to recover from his shock before he ends up worrying her or something.] They're really good! I... guess you'd rather have candy though, huh?

[Isn't that what all kids were into?]

No, that's okay! I like apples, too.

[ She reaches up to get one off the table, too, smiling brightly at him. He seemed a little upset and she didn't know if she'd done something wrong or not. She hoped she hadn't accidentally said too much after all. ]

There, now we both have one!

We... sure do! [Man, she was even good enough a kid not to demand candy when given the chance. She was like a saint, smiling even when he was being an awkward wreck.

It makes Yosuke feel even more awful, especially if she actually is a shinki.

Is... there any way he could find that out without asking directly?]

Apples aside. [His brows furrow in worry over the possible answer.] Are you... here all alone?

[ She blinks in surprise a moment before shaking her head. ]

Oh! No, I think my big brother is here somewhere. And my shinki. And there's people everywhere here, see? A lot of them are my friends.

[trashcrash]

[Yosuke nearly drops the apple.]

So--- so you're a god! [Er.] Goddess, that's...

[That's something Yosuke can't even find a word for. He'd say it's unbelievable, if something about her didn't make him actually believe it - and if he hadn't already seen a bunch of other kid-gods.

None... were as young as she was, though. Damn. That was kinda incredible.

It's a relief, too.]

Oh! Sorry, I was just--- you're really amazing, huh? [He smiles at her, hoping he sounds more amazed than surprised.] But I... guess everything's alright then, if you've got your big bro and friends here.

[He looks around, still somewhat wary. Even if she is a god, he can't help but be worried.]

Yeah! I'm Nanshe. [ Nanako beams, rather proud of the goddess she was brought here to help. ] She's a really old god, she looks after orphans and widows and people who got lost and hurt. And lots of other things, too. She was a very busy god, I think.

[ Her smile softens at that, and there's something a hint wistful about it. ] Yeah, having friends and family here helps. Don't worry, people are really nice here. You'll find friends in no time, I bet. And maybe you'll get a really nice god! There are lots of those here, too.
