Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki

The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

Throwing knives. I just feel more comfortable having them hidden.

[And he's not wondering why that is.

He shrugs.]

It's mostly good for forcefields right now. Maybe someone else could do more with it, or maybe I could with practice.

[Nothing wrong with that. Probably good for undercover work.]

There shouldn't be many who wield this power as freely as I can.

[But it's good to know what this young man is capable of, so far as his blue powers are concerned.]

You wouldn't happen to be in possession of a sword with a gold hilt encased in a blue scabbard, would you?

[He'd just unlocked Enomoto's recently but knows there was some time before Enomoto suddenly received it. Reisi has some theories about the blue and red powers he's seen so far, and finds it interesting that Fushimi has both.]

[Fushimi pauses before giving Munakata a Look.]

No. Why would I have something like that?

[Some part of him feels disappointed at that reply, but his countenance remains unmoved.]

Why indeed. I was merely curious.

[Not to mention he clearly has his own hanging from his left hip.

At any rate, he wonders about his connection to Fushimi. Maybe he simply doesn't have a sword at this point in time; maybe he doesn't have one at all. Maybe the red in him is more powerful than the blue. Maybe he's different from Enomoto and somehow has immediate access to Reisi's powers after the Sword revealed itself.]

[He does notice it, but Fushimi just waves a hand and rolls up his sleeves to sheathe a knife.]

If it's something you think is from our pasts, don't bring it up too often. I'm not turning into an ayakashi for anyone.

My, such an honest answer.

[In fact, this response is far more refreshing than the last in spite of its bluntness. He can appreciate how quickly he's been cut off at the pass, as well as the other shinki's candid selfishness. It'd be unfair if he took anyone else down with him, so it's best to respect Fushimi's wishes... even though he knows he still needs to find out more about his powers and who might have or can otherwise be affected by them.

He pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose.]

But I understand. That's quite reasonable and prudent of you.

[He casts a glance at Fushimi's target, the training dummy barely surviving its multiple stabs and burns. The other shinki seems quite proficient in using his two different powers.]

If I suddenly find the sword I'll come to you.

[But that's it on that topic.]

Anything else?

... Since arriving at the Far Shore, are you content with your life here?

[Because if so, it's all the more a reason for Munakata to distance himself from the other shinki. He may not know much or anything at all about Fushimi, but it'd be unfair to disturb him if he's living in relative peace.]

....tch, weird question.

[Fushimi shrugs, rolling his neck.]

I'm not dead. That's about all I can say about it. My first god never showed up to claim me and my current one has horses everywhere. I have freaky powers I don't know a damn thing about, and if I think too hard about it I'll turn into a monster.

[Is it really that strange a question? It doesn't feel that way to Munakata, but that may perhaps be because he's been thinking a lot about how some people become gods while others are relegated to being shinki. And because he's not exactly content per se, but he's making the best he can of it.

All he needs to do is confirm Fushimi's feelings so he could decide exactly how much distance there should be between them.]

That's hardly an answer... At any rate, do those things all balance each other out, or at least cancel each other in terms of contentment?

It's better than being truly dead. Does that work?

[It's enough to let Fushimi alone but perhaps keep an eye on him from afar.]

What god do you serve, and where is your temple?

Epona. Why?

[He's not giving out where to find him easily.]

[A good measure of caution, which Munakata can respect in Fushimi.

Besides, there may be other ways to find out. Fushimi should and would know that as well.

Instead of answering, he presses onward.]

Do you like the horses? Are you good with animals?

[What is with this guy and his questions?

And why hasn't Fushimi told him to shut up yet?]

They haven't bitten me to death, but I wouldn't say I like them. They're big and they stink and we have cars now so they're obsolete.

[He lets out a small chuckle.]

I wouldn't be so quick to write them off. Computers and robots alike can do plenty of things that humans can, but that doesn't make humans obsolete.

[The same should apply to horses and other living creatures...]

Then are you responsible for taking care of them?

[Because if so, that sounds like a nice, stable life with a routine.]

I help. I wouldn't say "responsible" for it, though. Horses are annoying, so more than one person has to do it.

[There, that sounds like a good life. Or afterlife, he supposes. It sounds good enough that Munakata should be able to watch the younger shinki from afar, without interfering—

Oya. His own hands are shaking as a pang of loneliness wells up in his heart at the thought of stepping back and away from Fushimi, even though he hardly knows anything about the other shinki at all. Munakata crosses his arms over his chest to still the shaking, or at least keep it otherwise hidden.]

So, in spite of your first god never showing up and your having an inexplicable combination of powers, you have fairly steady work, a place to stay, and a god's protection.

[See? To meddle here is to disrupt the newfound relative order this shinki has in his life... is what Reisi decides. In fact, it might've been better had Fushimi not manifested blue powers to begin with.]

I don't suppose you truly need anything else, then. [Especially given the possibility of turning into an ayakashi.]

He will, however, point out something else:]

It's merely a formality. After all, it's only the blue power that connects us, and that's hardly any bond at all... Not to mention you have no desire to turn into an ayakashi for anyone, which is completely reasonable given what you'd be putting at stake.

[In fact, it may be better not to give Fushimi a chance to believe in him.]

Besides, how is my concern of any use to you? Even if your situation were anything less than satisfactory, I'm simply another memory-less shinki who cannot offer anything of value.

That didn't stop Misaki.

[Or stop him from latching on to Misaki. Fushimi just shrugs, though.]

You might be the only other person in this place that's tolerable. If you want to try and work out practice, like you suggested, let me know.

[The only Misaki who Fushimi seems close with is Yata. Being rather keenly observant, Reisi can plainly see their concern for each other through their BBS back-and-forths.

Smiling as he casts a glance down and away from Fushimi, he inwardly sighs.]

If you're interested in furthering your potential, I don't see why we shouldn't. On the other hand, I wonder how you came about forming such an opinion on me.

[Because he can't just let that slide, not after he purposefully attempted to cut Fushimi off just a moment ago. While it's somewhat flattering and gives Reisi some small measure of hope that he didn't know he really wanted, why the sudden interest in holding on?]

[Damn, he's pressing. Can't he just accept that Fushimi doesn't instinctively dislike him?!

Well, time to make up some bullshit]

Tch. You aren't pushy. Usually. Our powers imply we're connected, too.

[It's hard to tell what Reisi's thinking for a few quiet moments before he suddenly lets out a calm chuckle.]

Very well. That answer is good enough.

[But the truth is that even though he'd even pressed Fushimi, he could've accepted if Fushimi had refused to answer him.]

So, for the time being, we can train. And so long as I don't push our connections or think about the past, it's fine. Is that correct?

[Fushimi nods.]
