He frowns at the first remember, and visibly winces at the second. There's only so much of that afternoon he's being permitted to recollect, apparently -- anything else is stirring up that old familiar wrongness that comes every time he tries to think about who he used to be.
But he doesn't need to hear the reason why. He knows the reason why. He's a hanyou, the bastard offspring of a beautiful youkai woman and the filthy human who... he can't even let himself think it. But she'd loved her freak son, despite that. Loved him so much that when her full-blooded youkai son had tried to rid the world of his taboo half-brother she'd stepped between them and taken the blow herself. It’s the only possible explanation for the fragment he’s been allowed to remember.
"Is that your plan?” He’s advancing again, slow and steady, although once he’s within striking distance the punches will come fast and hard, aimed to silence, to blind, to incapacitate. “Now that I remember what you did, you’re gonna turn me into an ayakashi?” He spares a moment’s regret for the blight that will probably cause Sharak – hopefully she’ll be smart enough to unname him the second it happens. “Only one of us is walking out of here, so you do what you’ve gotta do.”
