Summary: The owners and employees at a new shopping center are begging for help. Bad luck has plagued them, and their grand opening is this weekend! Gods and shinki alike have been asked to respond to their prayers on Opening Day, find the source of their misfortune and ensure that the opening goes smoothly.



The Yamada Corporation is opening a new, high-class department store in a Tokyo suburb. They've been running advertisements for weeks and excitement among their prospective customers is at a fever pitch. Unfortunately, things inside the project aren't going so well. Construction has been delayed, deliveries are wrong, employees keep getting sick or hurt on the job and it's starting to look like the grand opening will be a grand disaster. Their fervent prayers for help have reached the Heavens, who are passing them along to you to be granted... but with an addition: Heaven, too, is very interested in learning where that bad luck is coming from.



Maintenance Madness

For a brand-new building, Yamada Department Store is having a lot of maintenance issues. Toilets are overflowing, lights are burning out, stair railings are coming loose, and either the air conditioning is set so cold there's frost on the vents or it's not working at all. The overworked maintenance crew needs all the help they can get! How many gods does it take to change a light bulb?

Secret Shoppers

Are you really going undercover to make sure you stop problems before they start, or just enjoying a day of high-class shopping on Heaven's dime? Whatever your real motivation is, all expenses are covered... but you'll still want to keep an eye out for mishaps. Unfortunately, the grocery and bakery in the basement are under construction (they've had some flooding problems) but there are still six floors of designer clothes, consumer goods and restaurants to enjoy.

Retail Rescue

Between mysterious accidents and that nasty flu that seems to be going around, the department store is badly understaffed. Grab an employee uniform and someone else's nametag and pitch in before the lines get too long. There are positions open in every department, from the restaurant on the top floor to book sales on floor one.

It's not just sales and service you have to worry about: thanks to the store's misfortune, displays are toppling over, the wrong orders are coming in, fancy candies are melting all over the shelves and ink tags are exploding on their own. This is hard work!

Intrepid Investigators

The Heavens aren't just sending so much supernatural help to this department store to keep their faithful followers happy. They have reason to suspect that there's something more sinister behind this mysterious streak of extra-bad luck. Between keeping the lights on and the customers happy,
you've been asked to search the store and investigate all of the "unlucky" incidents in order to determine what's going on. The shinki who brought you this request hinted that Heaven would look favorably on anyone who uncovered something particularly useful....

[Since it's only going to get harder to hear Nanako the further in she gets, Shun quickly pulls the scrunched-up, water damaged paper from between the shelves before looking around. There's a very high shelf of reference books nearby with an even bigger sign over the top, and Shun tucks the paper into his coat for a moment to leap up and climb the display.

He's about halfway to the roof when he reaches the top, perching on the edge of the sign.]

Is it coming from the same direction as my voice? [He can see the damp patch from here, and it's between him and the hatch Nanako entered the roof through.]

[With a burst of energy, Lucina rushes forward as fast as she can, and once she's within range, dives forward...

...And is very, very lucky to manage to grab the bottom hem of the dress as she goes down with an "Oomph!". Please don't tug yourself out of her hand, dress, you have lost.]

[ There's a pause as she listens and tries to figure that out. ] Yeah. I think so? Should I go look and see? I can fit.

[ He's quick to hop off the chair before his god can notice, shuffling over to said pony princess and reeeeeeeeeeeeaching over in an attempt to nab those pantie back.

Unfortunately he's not being very subtle. ]

Shun and Izuku are heading up to the candle displays to see if the candles are melting for the same reason as the chocolates - what would they be likely to find in that area?

[Celestia gives his efforts the care and attention they deserve, pacing a circle around him to assess the effect of the clothing on him. It is not entirely unlike standing beneath the summer sun, without a cloud in the sky or shade nearby -- except not unpleasantly warm.]

[After her second circuit, she claps her hands together.] It looks too formal on you, but I think I have the answer. A t-shirt, and then the nice shirt worn open and not tucked in. What do you think?

If you can reach it, then check. But if it gets too cramped, don't push yourself. You might get stuck. [He doubts it would be that bad if maintenance people have to get around in there, but that doesn't mean he's not going to pass on the warning.]

[ It's called back a moment before Nanako disappears up through the hatch entirely. There might be few soft scuffles and bumps as she makes her way towards the sound of the dripping water.

Eventually, when she reaches it, her voice comes through the ceiling over the leak, muffled but still audible. ]

Shun? I found it! There's a pipe up here.... I don't think it's broken but water is coming out of it...

[Surprise, Fubuki, it's your god, just coming out from straightening up a shelf that made a pretty spectacular attempt at falling on a group of interested shoppers. He may or may not have just looked in the bag by default reaction of wanting to know as much about what's going on around him as possible.]

[The panties flick up off her face, courtesy of her magic, leaving Noel the victim of a long and measured look from her that every child within a hundred feet can recognize as the maternal 'you're in for it now' glare.]

[While Nanako does that, Shun pulls the crumpled bit of paper out of his coat, smoothing it out a bit to read it. He's distracted by her voice issuing from the ceiling again, though, and he frowns slightly at her description as he tries to work out the problem.]

Is it coming from where the pipes join? [They might not be connected properly, if the pipe isn't outright broken.]

[Because decaying a lock takes several seconds longer than kicking one in. Also because it's Shun.

In any case, Shun doesn't hesitate to lead them further upstairs, to where the candle display is still an indescribable mess of coloured wax. Given what they've learnt so far, Shun immediately heads to the shelves for a closer look.]

It looks worse than last time I was up here.

It looks like a talisman to me. [Keeping the tape folded over it, he holds it up so Hitsugaya can see it properly. Sure enough, it's a little fabric rectangle with a tassel hanging off, not unlike a charm someone would hang off their bag.]

It's possible it's cursed like the ones from Obon. [Hence why Shun isn't touching it directly.] I don't know if you or anyone else here would be able to confirm that.

Or someone who wasn't expecting anyone else to intervene. If we hadn't come to deal with this, they would've folded under the pressure by now.

[So potentially someone screwing around with spiritual things, but not realising the likelihood that would bring the Heavens down on them.]

[ And yet, her headache keeps her quiet enough to not refuse offhand! Barry has the floor to propose his idea!

Yeah, I think so! [ She investigates as best she can. ] It curves, and there's soemthing holding them together, but the water is coming out anyway.

[Dust shifts slowly away from the shelf, making certain she has it supported before he totally releases his pressure against it. Once he's sure she's good, he turns and sets the other one upright without a ton of effort. He's strong, after all -- lucky for him, being in the middle of that.]

[(She gets a little brush from his tail, but if that's the worst collateral damage they sustain, they're doing great.)]

[ And he's back just in time, too. For a guy with one arm, he's pretty quick when it comes to waiting on tables. All it takes is one glance to confirm he's got the right stuff before sliding it over onto the tray he has. ]

Yeah, I'd need to start looking into being multiple people for that. [As if to demonstrate his point, he conjures a semi-transparent imprint of himself next to him before waving a hand through it to dismiss it.] Pretty sure that isn't all it's cracked up to be.

[He is kind of curious what Hime's in the market for, though, so he leans down to look at those.] So casual use, otherwise there's no reason to be working on a budget when someone else is paying the tab anyway.

[Guess who was really obviously looking at the DJ and studio headphones, all of which are in the "expensive as hell" range.]

[Who needs scare chords when you have dying AC units. In any case, Davesprite makes his way up and peers into the unit first before doing anything too fancy.

And then pauses.] Huh. Fan's fucked. That was easy.

[Soaked clothes: definitely not the ideal. Tsuzuki flails to try to block the spray of water with his hands, which is almost completely ineffective, and looks over his shoulder in a panic.]

Sorry! That's got to go back on -- can you see where it went?!

[Somewhere in the growing puddles at his feet, probably, but he's now pressing both hands over the gushing open valve, and he can't really bend down to look.]
