reformedsinner: (down and wounded)

[Hakkai is overextended. The sudden pulse of weakness staggers him, and although Loki is still human-slow, he can't pull his leg back fast enough to twist fully out of the way of the blow. He does turn enough to take it on a shoulder instead of directly in the center of his back, where it could have stunned him or even broken a vertebra. The wet crack of impact, and the black stars of pain bursting across his vision, argue that it might have cracked his shoulderblade as well.

His arm spasms, Shiki falling to the ground with a clatter, and he twists again, catching himself on his good arm and rolling to his feet-- but he's slower, now, too. Shiki lies inert on the ground, not shifting or coming back to his hand the way a shinki with his own mind might have done, and Hakkai dives for the weapon, desperation taking the place of coordination as he grabs the hilt in his off hand.]
