Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to Bishamon's temple, where a reception area and a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into a Western-styled reception hall within Bishamon's temple for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior, although the minor deity conducting the meeting is in too much of a rush to take questions afterwards. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki volunteers, both in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's shinki and in Bishamon's red-piped black uniforms, are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanantion on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

Someone has brought two overflowing boxes of back issues of From Ama, the Heavenly magazine, which includes profiles of successful shinki and gods, historical tidbits, and the occasional magazine quiz to help shinki determine how well they're currently working with their god or what their greatest strength might be.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

This month, a clever shinki magician has created a dozen straw-stuffed training dummies, some with sword-length sticks and some with polearm-length sticks, that have been enchanted to really fight back. Unfortunately, the spell isn't perfect yet! They're good training partners, but sometimes they might go a little haywire and try to smack passersby.

Rest and Refreshments

Along with bottled water, there are several large boxes of energy drinks and vitamin drinks in small amber glass bottles, and an array of protein bars and meal bars. One particular shinki in white, a bespectacled twentysomething man, is explaining the health benefits of everything on the table (even the water!) with great enthusiasm to any guest who looks even a little confused. It takes great tact to discourage him.

Party games have been set up on the lawn near the refreshments table: Twister, Kubb, lawn Jenga, and more.

[Archer moves much faster than a human - in a moment he crouches low for a scything kick aimed to sweep Judar off his feet. What better than having him suffer the same.]

At first it's easy but when you take more and more pieces off the tower is unstable. It becomes a game of skill then!

Right, besides that. You look more like a ghost than the others.

[The shinki at the temple don't look any different from the gods, to him. If Davesprite hadn't said anything, Tadashi would have kept assuming he was a god instead.]

A dead bird and...well, that explains a lot. And you're a...game sprite?

[He turns back to the game, moving around to the other side of the tower before sliding another piece out, so he doesn't have to keep turning around to talk to his game partner. It also means that the sword he missed is now better visible.]

...Is that a sword?

[He relaxes his grip on his sword and allows his hand to drop to his side.]

[ Eric watches as the dummy collapses almost snorting at it's antics. His attention goes back to Shun as he begins to speak and he can only shrug at the response. ]

If I come, it's to practice my shinki abilities or my aura.

[ Although he's sort of stopped those practices recently, there didn't seem to be much use for them. Or he had hit a wall and wasn't exactly sure where to go from there. ]

You use spears?

[He pulls his hand back.]

Nothing too different from being on a battlefield, I'm sure.

Ow!

[ Yes, he actually went off saying ow in that exclamation while getting knocked down. Oh. Oh great. Now his legs and back are a little sore, and his back's definitely a little cold. Thanks dickweed. This place was already a little chilly, and now it's a little worse. ]

... the fuck, man?

[ He doesn't have any trouble getting up, at least. Though the way he does it is sort of like a backwards tumble at a leisurely pace. Please don't sweep him off his hands while doing this. Which gives Archer a good look at the shinki mark on the heel of his left foot. ]

[Chinatsu asks the woman as she drinks from her own bottle. Her face was so red she looked like she was running a fever.]

[Before she can even blink, he's crossing the room and touching her shoulder. Her eyes are wide as she blinks up at him. It was only when he touched her face that she realized what was happening.]

That might be good... [He was right of course, but there was no way she could tell him the truth. Doing so would just end in tragedy.

Not knowing what else to do, she just allowed him to lead her off to sit down. It probably wouldn't help all that much, but it might be a start.]

Y-yea, that's it. I'm homesick.

['And I watched you die. And you're my Chat. No big deal, right?']

What, not finding it as funny as before?

[Archer's voice is literally dripping with sarcasm. He just raises a brow. However he's not planning to repeat it, since he proved his point. Rather he hopes so.]

[As determined as she was to skip out on the various assorted energy bars and meal bars, she was actually a little hungry. But none of this appealed to her. So when the sound of a feminine voice caught her attention, Marinette turned to the source in time to spot a girl holding out one of the aforementioned bars.]

Ah... thanks. I'm not really used to eating this kind of thing. [Was that weird? It as probably a little weird.]

But if you say they're okay, I feel like I should trust you.

[With that, she reached out to take the offered bar] Thank you for sharing with me.

It's different. She did it when having planned to go against the dumb golems.

[ It also wasn't him that got knocked on their ass. So he still finds that memory a little hilarious. This one? Not so much. ]

[ This explanation does little to placate the wounded (?) party. ] A skilled opponent would have preoccupied it.

[ Not that she cares about this paltry training. Hibiki exhibits the depths of her apathy by turning to one side. ] To think we're now attracting this level of shinki....divinity is a more egalitarian pursuit than commonly imagined.

[ She says that big long English word like it's a bad thing. ]

Nope, not trying to antagonize anyone. Being a responsible adult and all that.]

Yeah, you went off attacking someone that didn't want to get involved. Good on you. What a big old man you are.

[ Yet he's reaching into his top and pulling out a wand with a large red jewel out of a physical habit- Which he realizes after a few seconds and stares at it without being completely sure what he was going to do. ]

Uh... Y'know, I'll just figure it all out later, when I feel like it. But see, I don't do swords or fighting.

[Leading her to take a seat he's moving to coax her into a seat gently. Once she's seated he's smiling gently fanning her with a stray magazine that's sitting there. He's still concerned for her but now that she's sitting he hopefully doesn't need to worry about her fainting.]

I know how that feels. I mean I would if I remembered it I guess.

[He smiles sheepishly before rubbing at the back of his neck with a hand.]

I'm sure you'll be okay. I can't imagine what it's like to miss home and have the memory of it but it can't be pleasant. But.. I think we'll be okay here. As long as we have our partners it should be okay.

[A pause.] Have you found your Shinki?

[ She knows how to fix this one, though. So, after a sigh (to herself), she turns and brushes the gleaming corner of Charlotte's eye.

With the petal of a purple lily. ]

Your face is lovelier brightened with smiles than with tears. Now, smile.

[ Hibiki smiles over this flower that now has a single perfect tear sitting jewel-like on the petal. And the air lights up with sparkles. ]

Are you saying you doubt my skills? [There's an annoyed twitch of his brow.] I'm a little rusty but that's no reason to be so unpleasant.

[You might be dressed like a prince but you don't act very princely. He's shaking his head at her.]

We can't all be perfect. Besides - [He's leaning on his weapon, he'd come over here to be nice and apologetic but well... Maybe he's not so much anymore.]

I was fighting two at a time. It might have been a bit much for my first day.

[ Despite the boy growing more upset, Hibiki is calming down. She is above this now. She is lofty. Elite. ]

Those who are perfect don't concern themselves with the others.

[Ignis also makes a noise in his throat in understanding. He hears the feathery noises, but passes it off as perhaps a plant's leaves rustling.

He makes a note that these gods are "new to their jobs", so to speak. That certainly makes things interesting and even a bit dangerous if these new gods don't know exactly what they're doing.]

I am to be gifted a name by you then, yes?

[Archer notes the gesture. He can feel that odd energy coming from Judar, and he's aware that poking the brat may be more dangerous in the future. Not that's gonna stop him.]

Hmph. You fit the typical magus stereotype.

I'm probably a really awesome one, too.

[ Judar, it's generally not a good thing to fit the stereotype. Though most mages don't really have two different sources of energy to call upon for their magic. ]

[He turns to face his right and starts heading that way, following the instructions precisely. He was thankful to get out of earshot of the too-loud shinki. Right now, he needed his sense of hearing to gather information around him. He didn't want to start off at a full on disadvantage.

He moves his make shift guide stick around him to make sure that he wasn't about to sit on anything and has a seat in the grass.

He lets out a small sigh of relief and takes another drink.]

[He's just watching her. He's a bit annoyed but not upset. He doesn't ever let it go that far at least he doesn't think so.]

I'd say it's the mark of a good person to care and be concerned for others.

[Then again that's just a gut feeling and not everyone has the same standards that he does. Dang it.]
