December Training

Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: September 25th
Where: Bishamon's temple, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to Bishamon's temple, where a reception area and a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into a Western-styled reception hall within Bishamon's temple for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior, although the minor deity conducting the meeting is in too much of a rush to take questions afterwards. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki volunteers, both in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's shinki and in Bishamon's red-piped black uniforms, are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanantion on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

Someone has brought two overflowing boxes of back issues of From Ama, the Heavenly magazine, which includes profiles of successful shinki and gods, historical tidbits, and the occasional magazine quiz to help shinki determine how well they're currently working with their god or what their greatest strength might be.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

This month, a clever shinki magician has created a dozen straw-stuffed training dummies, some with sword-length sticks and some with polearm-length sticks, that have been enchanted to really fight back. Unfortunately, the spell isn't perfect yet! They're good training partners, but sometimes they might go a little haywire and try to smack passersby.

Rest and Refreshments

Along with bottled water, there are several large boxes of energy drinks and vitamin drinks in small amber glass bottles, and an array of protein bars and meal bars. One particular shinki in white, a bespectacled twentysomething man, is explaining the health benefits of everything on the table (even the water!) with great enthusiasm to any guest who looks even a little confused. It takes great tact to discourage him.

Party games have been set up on the lawn near the refreshments table: Twister, Kubb, lawn Jenga, and more.

In Summary:
  • Get all the information you can handle
  • Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
  • Get in some training
  • Play some games
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

Oh. That sounds strange but like neat. Let's do it.
purr_ince: (Adrienette | I'm on your side)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-02-02 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Me either. It seems like a lot of responsibility. [He doesn't know how they do it. Or how they really organize things.] They do their best. [Adrien doesn't seem to notice her struggle as she tries to talk to him. Maybe she's just having a hard time adjusting? They're both new. So he's just writing it off to that.] I don't know what that is but it makes sense.

[Adrien rubs at the back of his neck, offering a sheepish smile.] Good. [He tilts his head giving a little nod.] That's just how it works I guess.

[He's not bothered by this or the way she looks at him when he just stares at her. Maybe she hadn't meant to say it? Was that another strange habit from her home? It seemed kind of universal at least the words were but maybe their meaning wasn't?] Oh.. Uh no. No it's okay! I didn't mind I just didn't understand for a minute is all. [The blond gives a little shrug of his shoulder.] I just wasn't sure if you were just like calling me a good boy or it was some thing you say whereever your from that has a different meaning or something? I really don't mind.

Maybe I do. [Adrien is comfortable and confident with reassuring her. At least he hopes that he is.] I don't know what made you upset but I'm here and I'll do my best to make you feel better. [Maybe she was just homesick? He didn't know what he could do about that exactly but he would do his best to make their temple like a home. He would learn to help her, the little things she likes, what makes her smile. These things are as important as learning spells and how to defend her. Adrien takes his duties as her shinki very, very seriously. When he speaks again there's a noticeable hint of relief in his voice.] It makes me feelgood to hear you say that, Marinette.

[If he were human he'd be pouting.] You're so cruel to me. I'm just trying to be the best shinki I can be but noooo- [His words were full of sarcasm.] Are you saying it's different when I'm human then? Interesting. [Adrien hums softly.] It's good that you're not - I'd be upset if I made you have hives or something. [As he reverts, the scarf around her suddenly becomes warm and bright light before Adrien is standing in from of her, human again - grinning and happily, his hands resting on her shoulders.] Of course, it will. [Gently, he's moving to take hold of her hand.] Let me take you home.

Has something like that happened before? Something happening more than once?

[This just sounded horrible and she was kind of hoping he was just trying to scare her. Would he do that?]

I can't even imagine what might have caused something like that. Here's hoping that the zombies are gone for good!
declamando: (disappointed)

[personal profile] declamando 2018-02-02 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
That's what I meant, it could explain why their shinki weren't there. [Or perhaps there was something else they were busy with. It seems like an oversight to get all of the new gods out of the Heavens but not the older ones.] We don't see a lot of older gods outside a particular circle, though, do we? A lot of them seem to keep to themselves, even with matters regarding their own.
badassfreakingoverlord: (the impatiently literary glare)

[personal profile] badassfreakingoverlord 2018-02-02 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[The book snaps shut, the better for Zetta to properly look at her.]

Think about it. The book contains everything in the universe, right? So anything you write in it has to come true. Where's the power for changing the universe like that gonna come from?
kokuyoyo: (Tell him next time I'm going to be)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2018-02-02 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That seems... normal. Staying to their own thing, unless they want to curry favor.... or show off something of their own.

It's.... sort of like politics, I guess.
kokuyoyo: (I don't do stupid things anymore.)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2018-02-02 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that I've heard.... but who knows. Newcomers here don't know as much as we want to...

[And the heavens sure aren't any help.]

...How is it?

[personal profile] kuroi_taiyo 2018-02-02 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I just named anything else that sounded like it'd be better than heat.

[ He's certainly giving a look to where you patted him- Is this supposed to be him making friends? Ew. ]

When some of it's figured out, I'll find you to show off.
ittenbari: (what no)

[personal profile] ittenbari 2018-02-03 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
[She's not wrong. Not that he remembers that, but...she's not wrong.]

Hey!

[He takes minor offense at that! Which is quite rare!]
doodlebuginette: (gasp!)

[personal profile] doodlebuginette 2018-02-03 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
[He wasn't wrong. She still had questions. But up til that point she wouldn't have guessed that zombies would be on the list of things she'd need to worry about.]

Maybe one of the ones who've been here longer would know.

[Because that would be an entertaining conversation.]

... What?

Considering things seem to work as a bureaucracy here, it's no surprise there's politics involved in their movements. [However exasperated Maria sounds with the idea, because her experience with political involvement back home is rarely ever good.] Then again, that makes it harder to tell what everyone's motivations are.

Would you prefer "scrap-metal"?

[ We can go through synonyms and near-synonyms for "ponkotsu" all day. ]
lookingforhead: (Nervous)

[personal profile] lookingforhead 2018-02-03 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Eh?]

Ohs orry!
I just assumed
usually it's just shinki out here
hnot that a god can't
I mean

Thank you for joining us.

[She bows politely following the last.]
lookingforhead: (Let me be clear)

[personal profile] lookingforhead 2018-02-03 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Overwhelming yes, and Celty is the sort to easily be flustered, but she's also the sort to sincerely enjoy people who are enthusiastic about things. As long as they don't hurt anyone in the process.

Marinette's initial backpedaling is met with an internal smile by the Dullahan. She's nice, but she still enjoys spooking people on occasion.

When she types her reply this time she keeps one hand on the scythe. Shadow tendrils snake from her sleeve to help her thumb type up her response to make up for the missing fingers.
]

It's the first one I made when I tried, and I'm most comfortable with it. I can make others, but I think this is my favored one, yes.

[Shinki memory loss is a tricky thing, but she's found her gut impulses tend to be trustworthy. Or at least she can depend on them enough to not worry about the things she doesn't know.]
lookingforhead: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] lookingforhead 2018-02-03 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[This has occurred to Celty too, but her mindset lies elsewhere.]

Maybe. But other people need us in turn.

If it turns out they're killing us on purpose though, I suppose that would be something worth fighting back over. But I don't know that this is true.

[Even with the memory loss it's simply not an impression she's gotten.]
kokuyoyo: (I don't do stupid things anymore.)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2018-02-03 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not even bureaucracy... Whenever there's power... politics always manifest anyway.

[For better or worse. Usually worse, in Chikusa's opinion.]
kokuyoyo: (Please don't place wagers on my)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2018-02-04 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
The old gods are useless.

[Well then. Still, he moves on smoothly from that point, nodding his head to the weapon in her hand.]

The yoyo.
doodlebuginette: (smile)

[personal profile] doodlebuginette 2018-02-04 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure they're not... entirely useless?

[Alrighty then. She doesn't want to share that attitude, because what would that say about the state of things? So she's more than willing to go along with the abrupt subject change.]

Oh.

It's great! Almost like mine.

[Minus the smartphone/akuma purifying things, of course.]
declamando: (but that's fine)

[personal profile] declamando 2018-02-04 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose that's true enough...people are always going to want to gain that kind of power.

[It's a frustrating situation, and one Maria's seen all too many times by now. Still, it's not something they can theorise too heavily on right now with no answers to just about anything going on here, so she sighs and glances to the headless dummy they left aside earlier.]

I should probably try to put this back together for the next person.
papillonprincess: ([<3] | Is the wine)

[personal profile] papillonprincess 2018-02-04 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[ See what you have to work with...?

But she does nod back, that same smile never leaving her. ]

A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Marinette-kun. If you ever need assistance, allow me to offer my god as someone who can help. The Baron has been here a while so he might have answers if you have problems settling in.
kokuyoyo: (Please don't place wagers on my)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2018-02-04 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[....That's a lot more effort than what he did for the one he mutilated. Chikusa shrugs and starts to shuffle off.]

Good luck.... I'm going to find the person who made them...
yoshinocherry: (I see it all so clear)

[personal profile] yoshinocherry 2018-02-04 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ah... ah. This is not about what she expected.]

This is someone's house! [An astute observation.]

We... we should be able to sneak out pretty easily.
futhark: (75)

[personal profile] futhark 2018-02-04 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[ If you dislike friendmaking, it can also be used as an ultimate annoyance. See, how many various uses for one skill? ]

Fine, I'm looking forward to it!

[ Instead of a threat, he sees it more as a promise. ]
yoshinocherry: (I'm okay)

[personal profile] yoshinocherry 2018-02-05 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[She's not sure that unique is necessarily a good thing in this case, but the circumstances aren't the kind of story she wants to dump on a a newbie, nor on someone she just met.]

Helping out all sorts of people in need, of course! Shinju's an ally of humanity, so that's definitely going to be the best way to make sure everyone knows.

Ross could have just used his magic again to cheat, but instead he nudged the block out of place like she had done before. The stack still wobbled, but he didn't flinch like he did last time.

"You let me take the easiest piece again even though I won last time."

Of course, he only saw fit to bring this up after his turn was over.
