[closed] Learning
Who: Kiryuu Ichiru and Uchiha Itachi
Where: Grounds of Hades's temple
When: October 2nd
What: Talking, sword/blade training?
Warnings: None, probably
He had told Ichiru that he wanted to learn how to use a weapon. During the... cocaine incident... he had moved in strange ways... like it was instinct that he knew how to fight. It was a little terrifying. Even so, he had relied too much on Ichiru and his god to bail him out. He couldn't do that anymore. He needed to learn how to fight.
He was on the grounds of Hades's temple, waiting for Ichiru to appear for the time they'd scheduled. Before, he'd gone to check on Zero, who was sleeping again. Maybe it was sentimental of him. But he was also afraid that when the other woke up, he'd forget him again.
...He might have run his fingers through the god's hair. Cerberus didn't have the vocal capacity to squeal on him.
Itachi went and "borrowed" some weapons from a shop he found on the Near Shore. He didn't feel any guilt about it--he planned on bringing them back (unless he really liked one of them). A couple of katanas, tanto, western broadswords, a few switchblades--just a few things to mess around with. He didn't really know what Ichiru was good with.
...He also figured, maybe it was about time to let Ichiru know what he found out he could do. He could walk on water. He could walk up trees. He had no idea why. He could feel... some sort of energy in his feet, but where it came from? No idea. He had a feeling those secrets were locked deep in his memories.

However, it was short lived now that Zero was sleeping again. He didn't seem to quite understand why but for now he left his brother alone with nothing but a few jabs. Not too long after seeing Itachi, that he got back on his feet and patted himself off. There was something said to the three headed dog before it headed back to its god as it should. Ichiru was quite aware of how protective of his master, Cerberus was. Ichiru managed to get the creature to take a small break before it went back to its master.
There's a small chuckle as he turned to face Itachi with his handful of weaponry for their day.
no subject
"I hope these weapons are all right. I didn't know what you like."
no subject
Ichiru replied with a small chuckle as he watched the creature disappear to its master's side. Ichiru then steered his undivided attention at Itachi as he procured a handful of interesting weapons. Ones of which, he didn't ask where the other got them from.
"I don't have a particular preference but I am quite responsive towards short swords and Katanas. However, if there is something you wish to utilize, please feel free to suggest."
no subject
He looked towards Ichiru. "...It would be easy to carry around a switchblade, however, so... do you think you could teach me how to handle one?"
no subject
Ichiru praised lightly as he watched the other. The teen watches the man curiously as he said that. Maybe it was because he was always used to using the Katana that he had never felt that it was impractical. Given that he was quite skilled with it when he tried. He did make the swings seem effortless and fluid. However, even that would take some time to adjust to again, muscle memory or no.
"I suppose if you are not used to using a katana, it can be quite impractical," he nodded his head before tilting it slightly, "I suppose that shouldn't be an issue. It's smaller than the collapsible that I carry around."
no subject
He let out a faint breath.
"...Zero..." He started slowly. "...Zero told me I need to defend myself..." Even if he didn't really want to. But...
"He's my god... I don't want to disappoint him further."
no subject
Honestly, he would rather Itachi be able to defend himself then not be able to defend himself. It was better that way. It's important to be able to not feel helpless. Ichiru of all people would understand that plight. He waits almost patiently with his arms crossed for Itachi to make a decision.
He perks up when he hears Zero's name, "Ah, I see. I suppose it can't be helped. I'm certain that you feel like you're being a burden."
He stated as a matter of fact before hearing the other's second set of words.
"I don't think you've disappointed him. If it's anyone that's disappointed him, it would be me."
no subject
"You're loved by him." It was more than he could say for himself. He frowned down at the knife. "...You can't do any wrong in his eyes. Even f you make mistakes... I'm certain that will hold true.
"Zero... was my friend before he was my god." And he looked back up at Ichiru. "And due to that... I care for him deeply. You as well."
But he shook his head. "Thank you, for taking the time to do this."
no subject
"That is one of his many flaws, unfortunately. I shouldn't be forgiven for doing things to hurt him. However, Itachi-san. You know him just as well as I do. Zero isn't the type to treat others like a burden. If anything, he feels that he is the burden. That's the kind of person he is."
He replied honestly, "He hasn't changed much at all, even now. I am certain he understands you are doing the best you can."
There's a pause as he glances at Itachi for his next statement, "Shouldn't your feelings be enough then?"
He tilts his head briefly before continuing, "There isn't a need. I do not wish for you feel like you are incapable of doing things on your own. I -- can understand why you wish to pursue this and I am more than willing to help as you have saved me once on the account of your own safety."
no subject
But for now, he'd concentrate on learning how to use a weapon.
"I protected you because... in a strange way, you and I are partners." They were both shinki to the same god, after all... and Itachi... he knew he wouldn't stick his neck out for just anyone. Only people he cared about. "I wasn't able to do much... but if there is a next time..." Hopefully not. "I'll be more prepared."
He held the knife out again.
"How do I wield it?"
no subject
Of course, Ichiru was fully aware of how special he was to his brother. He could get Zero to bend at his every whim in a matter of word placement. He didn't really have to do much but others-- it would be difficult. He didn't blame Itachi for his doubt.
"I suppose we are now. We weren't much more than allies back then."
Even if it wasn't that long ago really. They were both Shinkis. This was true and now they share a God. It made sense to feel closer to them.
"It's quite alright. You did the best you can and I appreciate it regardless."
He looked over, "I suppose it depends on what you want to do with it? It's quite easy to hold a dagger. It is light as well so it will give you quicker movement."
no subject
"I'm confused about both ends. I feel as if you would cut yourself if you attempt to use it as a normal dagger if it has two ends..."
no subject
Zero would have been a better choice but he didn't know what was going with those two so he didn't bring the topic up for now, anyway.
"You can use it sideways such as swiping it sideways instead of forward or if you don't mind carrying a few of them, you can throw them at your enemies. It almost guarantees to hit if it has both ends and if you have good aim."
no subject
"Ah... swiping it sideways... that makes sense." ...Geez he's such a green, why didn't he think of that? He pauses, before doing what Ichiru said. He swiped back and forth, side-to-side. He has picked up speed on the second swing--it even caused his hair to flutter.
"...Like that?"
no subject
"It can be a bit tricky but once you get the hang of it, you can defend yourself both ways. It's also good for parrying if an enemy has a weapon."
He nods his head, "Yes, but you'll have to be aware of being too open."
no subject
...But he remembered Zero's angry eyes. He took a deep breath.
"All right." He clicked down one of the blades, so it just became a normal knife. He held it out.
"I know there are jabs and slices... is.. there a good posture for that?"
excuse me while i bs this . it's too late to research
"Since you will be using one hand with a weapon and the other not, it would make more sense to prepare your other arm in a way to counter anything that comes after the slashes and jabs, given they do not connect. If they connect, you're more likely to take control of the situation."
Ichiru slides the Katana that was given to him off its sheathe as he held it with one of his hands while the other was angle in a certain way with the sheath still in his hands. He angled it a certain way it was covering his other side while the sword was point out.
"You can use the sheathe if the weapon has one as a form of defense, you can simply do this," he mused dropping the sheathe as he angled his body in a certain way where his hand was prepared to counter his opponent.
"Unfortunately, it's not a method I am accustomed to as I tend to go at my battles rather quickly. You can simply just train your body to be prepared to dodge or evade when you sense an attack coming. That would be the easiest."
i totally understand xD
At least, so he thought. He found out that he could move very quickly, walks up walls and trees and water... when he went out, sometimes he practices. He felt, however, as if he could do more.
Speaking of more...
"Ichiru," Itachi stated, "...Do you know anyone with red eyes like mine?"
hahaha <3 thanks love
Ichiru still feels a little odd that he's teaching someone else how to use something that he isn't quite well versed in. However, it's not a bad feeling to help someone. Perhaps, it was because he spent a lot of time with Itachi that he doesn't feel like the other is troublesome.
"Then why don't we do that? IT seems to be the easiest way since you have good reflexes."
He nodded his head lightly.
Ichiru tilts his head, "No. I do not. Unless you're referring to Zero when he has trouble curbing his bloodlust."
no subject
...Nothing.
But, he wouldn't be discouraged. Perhaps, if he was a good shinki, then the memories would come back to him. Lance hadn't seemed to want him. Sasuke disappeared one day, and he was let alone for a while.
...But Zero had taken him in, though of course, he had to build up the courage to ask. Even if he didn't remember it, what he had asked of him... Zero believed a god should protect their shinki. Itachi thought the other way around. And now...
He would learn to protect the other here, in the "physical" world. He wouldn't only be worth something when he was a stupid coin. He wasn't even sure if he wanted to use him for that, anyway. He had seemed... almost scared.
Itachi took a deep breath. He tossed the knife up a bit--he was able to snatch it easily in his hand by the handle. Good reflexes.
"I see.. no one else," He mused thoughtfully. "..Sometimes, they do strange things. When I look into a mirror sometimes... the... there are strange markings in them... they move. The spin... like a pinwheel."
He thought for a moment. "...And when they do, everything is in slow motion. It... makes it easier to move, because I feel as if I'm still going at a normal pace."
no subject
Of course, he'd never blame Itachi for feeling like he did. It made sense. At this point, Itachi didn't know even a sliver of who he was or who he knew. He almost pitied the other but not at the same time.
"Yes. I suppose that wasn't an answer you wanted, but I can keep an eye out of if I ever see someone."
He replied after a moment of silence, "Huhh," he paused. That's definitely unique. Ichiru eventually walks up to Itachi and looks down at his eyes.
"If you can control the motions, it can be quite useful to you in battle-- combined with you're already clean reflexes."
YESSS BIRTHDAY POST
"...Thank you. If you keep an eye out, I mean," Was the response. Itachi, somehow, managed to pull his own gaze away, looking down at the knife. "I haven't tried to train them yet. I might be able to... to learn a bit more. Perhaps they'll become useful in the future if I do. As for the knife training...I feel as if I've learned a bit."
He looked back up at Ichiru.
"Will you spar with me? I'm sure you have control." That way if Itachi fucked up he wouldn't get his hand sliced off or... wait could shinki get injured like that permanently? He didn't know.
xDDDD YOU'RE WELCOME SORRY THIS IS LATE
"Certainly. It doesn't take much effort."
He mused to reassure Itachi that he would keep his words.
"Is that so. I am sure you will be fine, regardless. Again, it's not wrong to want to defend yourself."
He raised a brow at the question but doesn't turn it away, "I suppose I could use the exercise." He replied offering Itachi a small smile, "I would rather not be rusty."
Ichiru wasn't a teacher so he promised nothing, especially when it concerned safety of others. He didn't really patience for that.
Naaaaah you're good!!!
Itachi moved a few paces away, taking up a stance with the knife.
"...All right. I'm ready."
thanks dude~
"Alright-- you can pace yourself however you want."
Ichiru replied as he stepped back a moment and waited for Itachi as if signaling him to go ahead and start the spar match with his attack.

There was no time to block that--but he found himself able to move out of the way at least. He had to hop back a few steps, putting some distance between him and his opponent.
He didn't strike back immediately. Itachi adjusted his grip on his knife.
no subject
Ichiru didn't want to give Itachi the space, so as he moved back a few steps, Ichiru dashed towards him cutting down at him.
