Well, I don't think that's going to change anytime soon. [Maria gets the gist of what he means by that one, her slight smile not quite sincere either. It's an advantage, in a way, but also sad to think that time has most likely stopped for him forever now.]

How's your goddess, by the way? Events like this can be hard for those that are a little shy.

[sweetdeath]

[She's not so happy about agreeing with that, is she? Tsuzuki doesn't mind, but he smiles, and lets the subject drop. If she doesn't like talking about it, that's okay. He doesn't want to make her agree it's funny... because, for one thing, although he finds himself not minding, it's not that funny.]

She's all right! I don't think she's planning to get out there too much, but I might see if she's up for a dance with someone she knows before we head home.

[declamando]

[That sounds like a bit of a brighter subject, and Maria takes it happily. Things might have been resolved back home before she returned here, but that doesn't mean there weren't loose ends she's lingering on quite enough without more to dampen her mood.]

It helps for it to be someone familiar, with this sort of thing. Especially if it's later on, there'll probably be less people to worry about still watching.

Yeah, for sure! I might not be that much of a dancer, but I can manage a waltz or two.

[And Sakura knows she can relax around him, which is probably more important. He smiles cheerfully.]

So hopefully she'll have fun.

Honestly, that might be more than a lot of people tonight can say. I've seen a lot of people among the crowd that don't even look comfortable in formal clothes.

[And while that's not a sure sign that they have no experience in formal dancing, it's probably safe enough to judge by for now.]

Well, hopefully everyone has fun. It'd be nice to have more nights like this.

It's nice to get away from worrying about things, just for a little bit.

[As much as this is letting him not worry about things -- which is a lot, actually. There are guards, there's good food, it seems pretty safe, or at least like if anyone tried to get in there'd be some real consequences.]

I guess it'd be too much of a hassle to have these kinds of fancy parties often, but I'm glad we got one!

I can agree with that. [She's had quite enough to worry about recently, though most of it happened while she was back in her own world rather than in this one. Still, it's not a subject she really wants to drop on anyone unprompted, so she avoids bringing it up.]

The more casual parties would be easier, I agree, though if they're going to need this level of security from now on to make sure they don't get attacked, it might only be that little bit more trouble to do something like this.

I guess that's true.

[His smile fades into a more serious, concerned expression as he glances down.]

I hope it'll be enough tonight.

[Maria offers a reassuring smile, though there's a little bit of tightness to it.]

I think it'd be more trouble than it's worth to attack something as heavily attended and well-guarded as this. Especially since it's in a closed area.

[The moon viewing would have been easier to sneak into, being out in the open, but this one, they'd need to find another way in.]

You're probably right! [He hopes. It is well guarded! And everyone's here. When Amaterasu's temple caught fire, they'd all been lured away to other places in the world first.]

Anyway -- have fun, huh? [He smiles at her, and adds -- not that he's worrying:] I should go see what Sakura's up to.

I certainly hope so. [It's always difficult to be sure with this sort of thing, but Maria sounds reasonably confident in saying it regardless. It would be a strategically unsound kind of move unless they were absolutely assured not to get caught.

Once he indicates he plans to go, she waves a hand, gathering up her train a bit.]

I still have a few more people to greet, but I'm sure I'll see you again soon enough.
