[ Hibiki blinks, returning to the moment. ] My shinki has made a - fortunate acquaintance.

[ She's walking around with a cell phone in her pocket to try to smuggle to Amaterasu.

Go big or go home. ]

[declamando]

[There's only really one way to interpret that, even if it doesn't involve the entire answer.] One of the old gods? I'm afraid Bishamon is the only one I ever really got the chance to talk to.

[And she was nice enough, but one of these days, Maria's planning to approach the rest of them herself.]

[priforprince]

[ Hibiki smirks, helping herself to a snack as a tray passes. ] A mere God of Fortune is beneath my shinki's attention.

[ GO BIG OR GO HOME

FOR THAT MATTER, HAVE A BIG HOME ]

[declamando]

So you must be even further beneath it, then. [Maria makes that remark rather lightly, though with a faint turn of amusement to her mouth. She's had a bit of a trying few months from her perspective that she's only just come back from today, and it's making deflating Hibiki's head a little a more tempting prospect than it usually is.

She does move on soon enough, though, because there's not much question of who Hibiki means at this point.] I'm hoping Amaterasu does show up tonight. It's been a little worrying not having seen her since the fire.

[ Wh--

The conversation moves along quickly enough that Hibiki is spared having to make a confused face for very long. It almost sounded like Queen Maria had... ]

Minimizing one's public appearances results in maximum impact.

[ Hibiki picks at her snack. ] Of course, her safety is also a primary concern.

[declamando]

Yes, I'd say it's been safety that's the problem since then. If attackers could do that much damage even to her temple, letting her come to just any occasion would put her in danger.

[Maria mostly seems preoccupied with that subject when she moves onto it, looking a little sad. It's a shame that any one person should have to bear that kind of weight, though it's hard to say if it's deserved before they find out why these people are out for Amaterasu.]

It'd be nice if they actually caught the person behind it.

[priforprince]

That would require competence.

[ Hibiki's respect for Amaterasu and her opinion of Heaven's bureaucracy don't really talk to each other. ]

[declamando]

There's also the fact that someone who managed to get that close to Amaterasu's temple in the first place probably had some kind of clearance. [Maria has her doubts about the effectiveness of the Heavens' security as well, but it's not exactly a small breach they're talking about here. Whether it's magical or personal, the culprit probably had some kind of in to Amaterasu's temple.]

[priforprince]

An "inside job", you mean?

[ Aaaaand now Hibiki is in a spy thriller. She is shortlisted to play the next James Pond, so one never knows. ]

[declamando]

Possibly. If there's one place I can't imagine their security would be lacking, it's protecting their leader.

[Especially one as young as Amaterasu, when apparently there was a known target painted on her long before the temple attack if that sakura viewing fire she keeps hearing about was any sign.]

[priforprince]

She's in more need of true allies than ever, then.

[ Hibiki is filled anew with the noble purpose of sneaking a cell phone to a small girl whose grown-ups probably won't be keen on that.

[declamando]

I just hope nobody takes advantage of that as well. [Maria says that rather seriously, considering it's been well documented now that not all of the newcomers have good intent.

Still, it's not really something she wants to worry about all night, so with a sigh, she rearranges her composure and starts to gather her skirt a bit.]

I have a few more faces to greet. But I'm sure I'll see plenty of you on the dancefloor later.

[ A bow of her head. ] May you have a pleasant evening.

[ Hibiki is happy to let Maria continue to do fancy party things. The conversation did get towards the serious side for such a lovely occasion, after all.
