Ren
[Considering dancing isn't a skill Shun thinks is of any actual importance, that response gets a faint snort out of him.]
Good enough. I'll just have to follow your lead, then. [In looking like he knows what he's doing instead of actually knowing what he's doing, because in all honesty, Shun isn't that interested in knowing what he's doing in this particular situation.
The crowd thins out a bit closer to the dancefloor, thankfully, though Shun still has to elbow one or two more people aside before they get that far.]

Just try not to step on my feet. That's no fun for anyone.
[Ren offers a cheery wave to anyone getting pushed out of the way, which is meant to be apologetic but probably doesn't really come off that way. But then they're through and out in the open and all he has to worry about now is maneuvering Shun into the right position. Turns out grabbing his hand was useful after all, since all he needs to do is adjust them slightly to be holding it the right way for dancing.]
This hand like this...then this hand goes here... [He guides Shun's other hand to his shoulder and sets his own hand on Shun's hip.] And then you just move where I move.
[Like...backward. He'll start by stepping backward first, how about that.]

Shun lets Ren rearrange his hands without trouble, since he definitely has no idea which one's supposed to go where, though he does glance down briefly when Ren puts his hand on his hip. It's still not somewhere he's all that used to having someone touch, but he looks up again soon enough.
The explanation seems a little too simple, and Shun raises a brow slightly as he steps forward to match Ren's movement backwards. Mirroring someone's movements is, at least, a skill that's useful in a fight, so it's something he's fairly familiar with.] That sounds too easy.

Not on my feet. [You can't expect him to be satisfied with being stepped on just anywhere, gosh, Shun.
But it's hard to stay not-actually-offended for long, especially since he has to concentrate somewhat on leading, and it looks like Shun it's going to have a problem with staying off his feet anyway, so he shrugs after a moment and starts guiding him into an easy pattern of steps and turns.]
Well, something like this isn't very hard. The hardest part is anticipating where I'm going to go, and you're already really good at that kind of thing.
no subject
I'll keep that in mind. [For...whenever it becomes relevant, though he can't imagine it's going to be all that long a time before it does. They're already not exactly gentle in their intimate encounters.
Shun definitely has to take his attention off Ren's face for a little while to keep an eye on the steps, and the movement of his body once the turns come in, but he keeps up with at least an acceptable level of competence, if not nearly as smoothly as he would do if this was some kind of combat. He also doesn't exactly have a problem with having to look at the way Ren's hips move either, so that helps.]
So people using not knowing how to do this as an excuse probably haven't tried. [Or they're just...not as good at tracking movements and picking up something like that as Shun is, which apparently doesn't factor into his thoughts right now.] I still can't tell why people would think it's fun, though.

As Shun looks down at their feet, Ren opens his mouth to mention that he's really supposed to keep looking up at his face or over his shoulder or pretty much anywhere but their feet, but then decides to just close it again without saying anything to just watch the top of Shun's head with an extremely fond smile instead. Shun is trying really hard to do something nice for him and to get it right, so he can be nice and not tease him too much.
Although he could probably hide how unpracticed his own movements are a little better if Shun weren't looking at his feet.]
It's easier when you look at your feet. [Okay, so maybe he had to tease him a little bit, he can't help it. But just a little bit.] I don't know. I like it, but I'm not sure I could say why. It's hard to explain why some things are fun. They just are.
no subject
I wasn't just looking at our feet. [Granted, that's probably just going to get him even more into an opportune place for teasing, but he's used to it by now. It would be stranger to him if that kind of thing wasn't happening at a time like this.
He can, at least, still keep track of Ren's movements in his peripheral vision, so he turns his head back to look at his face properly. It seems like he has to think about that explanation for why it's fun, and it takes him a few moments to actually remark on it, because the conclusion he comes to is one he doesn't often bring up directly. Unsurprisingly given that, his tone is a little quiet in admitting it.]
I can't think of anything I feel that way about anymore. [Things he does with company might be fun because of the company, or fun because of the challenge, but if he tries to think of something he just finds fun for no real reason, he draws a blank. It's not something he's thought about much until recently, but after the moon viewing, and after what he's been having to think about since then, it's been bothering him just a little.]

He's somewhat torn between being angry at Academia all over again and saying that it's okay because it's not like Shun can't have fun at all anymore. But it seems like this is something that's finally bothering him, instead of him feeling like it's a waste of time--and it's nice to see that, but it does make him wonder if he can just say it's okay. Or that maybe there's a little more reason than no reason, he just didn't feel like figuring it all out...
Ren hums a little, staring thoughtfully at the air over Shun's head. Maybe he'll mention that in a minute or so. if he doesn't forget, like he's forgotten to ask about Shun's coat. But first, it does make him wonder something that he probably should have asked long before now.]
What did you do for fun before? Other than Duel Monsters. [Because he's pretty sure Shun's not going to see that as being fun for fun's sake for a loooong time.]
no subject
Once Ren mentions that, he glances away slightly. It would probably be more reassuring that he was turning his focus to remember it if the way the lines around his eyes tighten a bit after a few moments didn't indicate he's not having much luck.
Eventually, he just shakes his head.] I don't remember. Nothing that stands out enough now for me to have held onto it.
[He remembers some things he enjoyed, but those are more like subjects and things that interested him instead of anything he'd actually go to for fun. The rest of it is still blurry, apart from a few specific moments that don't really have much to do with the topic anyway.
Turning his head back towards Ren, he curls his fingers a little more around his hand.]
This doesn't seem like a good time to bring it up anyway. [He'd rather Ren just enjoy the dance instead of worrying about this for the whole time.]
no subject
Why not? I don't mind. [He shrugs and pulls Shun into a more abrupt spin than he has so far.] The nice thing about dancing like this is we can talk if we want to.
[He smiles and goes back to his somewhat calmer steps to the music. It is a little difficult to want to keep talking when part of him just wants to go "wheeeeeee".]
Maybe that's one reason I like it. Because I like spending time with you.
no subject
He lets out a very slight sigh at the remark that comes with it, though.]
I know you don't mind, but it doesn't seem right to do it when you're trying to have fun. [It's not something he tends to broach openly at the best of times, but to him, it feels particularly out of place right now. It's probably a good thing Ren's remark snaps him out of the downturn in mood, though, if for a somewhat different reason than possibly intended. However long they've been doing this for, Shun still isn't really getting any more used to that kind of genuine remark on something good about him, and he ends up with the typical blindsided look he gets about compliments before turning his head away after a moment to hide it. That reaction, at least, he is used to.]
...I like being around you as well. [Guess who's still terrible at this complimenting thing. Even though it's stated certainly, he's a little quiet about it, and looking at him more sidelong than directly.]
