[ And to that his expression drops ]

No mead? [ How dare..!! ]

That would mean no ale too... [ Was she to more Heavenly parties to know that deal? Probably, the way she spoke suggested she was here for a while. ]

Eh, at least the local sake isn't that bad.

Ale is slightly more likely... which is not particularly likely still. [It's no mead, but it would do as a substitute... were it only an option. Alas.] Sake is... I suppose it will do.

What a shame- [ But nothing unexpected. Japanese Heavens having godly sake and not other alcohol makes a lot of sense. But there is not just Heavens, there is also rest of the world ]

I know a place that serves acceptable ale and mead. [ It's of course modern done, and compared to her experience, it's made by mortals. Surely the mead Valkyrie drink is NOT made by mortals ] If you ever wish to toast with the real deal.

[ And it took a while to find it ]
nibelungvalesti: (what?!)

Is that the one Shizuo tends at? [She knows of one as well, but isn't certain it's the same one. Knowing of another would be valuable if it is not, but so long as she gets her mead...]

Shizuo! [ Ah, a common ground, er, friend!! A good topic, possible gossip to share, etc- ]

I haven’t been to that one yet! Have you? [ The yet is hanging here, he must, he must visit Shizuo’s bar if that’s the case. ] The one I’m talking about is in the Near Shore, in the area known as Shibuya.

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2018-02-22 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Is that accurate? Shizuo has helped her in the past, but she has not seen him for a while... Can she say he is a friend?]

I believe I visited near there once, but I did not know of this establishment. It seems strange to envision attending a mortal bar, as a god...

[ Sounds like a friend, but then he is quick to call people friends ]

Why not? Where I come from, gods were often pretty close with mortals. [ He's the effect of some being way too close ] It's important to understand your followers, right?

Quite the opposite was true in Asgard. The Valkyrie was the sole point of contact between the two. Lord Odin took a philosophy of noninterference, as heavenly matters took his attention.

[While that isn't quite true, she believes it, at least.]

Mhhm. I see. Different places, different outlooks on life. [ Or Heavenly duties ] Not sure if it was better for mortals in Ireland that our gods were more prone to interfering. Their blessings helped us a great deal, but then their curses were...

[ That one time a previous king offended goddess Macha-- ]

Eh, probably better not to speak about it.
nibelungvalesti: (sadness)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2018-03-03 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods, understanding the general principle.] Were I a mortal who knew what I know, I would be grateful the gods looked away from Midgard.

...though as a god, I regret that we do not offer more boons.

Yeah, it does seem like we're more of a heavenly cleaning service. [ With all ayakashi killing, it does seem like pest control at times. Just at times, sometimes they providing exciting battles, that sadly no one will witness to sing songs about ]

But maybe it's tied to rank. That we've been here too short to be given such responsibility.
nibelungvalesti: (angry look)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2018-03-05 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[She shakes her head, a slight gesture that makes her hair ripple in long waves.]

You misunderstand. As a true god, an Aesir, I begin to regret that we are not more active in Midgard. The same may also be said of the true gods here. Those mortals who have been given divine titles, and their shinki, are more active in the Far Shore than they by far.

[ Ah so it's an issue back home ]

Do you think anything could be done about it? [ Sometimes talking to superiors works. Very rarely though. And some superiors would behead you for even trying. Given how different places are from where they come from, he's not going to jump straight into giving advice ]
nibelungvalesti: (sadness)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2018-03-11 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[She shakes her head slightly, without hesitation or consideration.]

Lord Odin has no mind for Midgard.

[ Caster mulls over that reply. He's not that knowledgeable about Father of the Runes. Even if Scáthach received the runes or stole them somehow is in the end not much of his concern - although he's sure there must be a story linked to it, there's always a story.

He answers carefully albeit a little resigned. ]

When you get all time in the world, changes can take you by surprise.

[ No one says it has to be a good change though. Twilight of the age of the gods is a thing, it's kind of amazing the Near Shore kept existing for as long as it did. ]
nibelungvalesti: (angry look)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2018-03-15 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
We do not have all the time in the world. Long have we known that Ragnarok was inevitable. Now it is here.

[That drives Valhalla more than anything, and shapes Odin's intents and plans in her judgment. Winning the battle. Surviving.]

[She has no idea how right she is.]
futhark: (78)

[personal profile] futhark 2018-03-17 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that explains why he might have different things on his mind.

[ World ending event kind of does to that. His pantheon only was supposed to sail away before the inevitable twilight for the deities fell. ]

That conversation turned grim, how about we see what kind of drinks they offer?
nibelungvalesti: (what?!)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2018-03-19 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Grim? Was that grim? She did not recognize it as such...]

[She shrugs mildly, agreeing with his suggestion for lack of any other idea as to what she ought to be doing.]
Very well, let us proceed. Do you know where they are to be found?

[personal profile] futhark 2018-03-21 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm just going to follow my nose.

[ It's a joke, of course, but he trusts his instincts on finding the alcohol ]
nibelungvalesti: (hands clasped)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2018-03-22 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. Sufficiently powerful alcohol would indeed be something you could scent.

[Nope, doesn't realize it's a joke. Is that really surprising, though?]
