It's a poem, isn't it? Although I'm afraid I couldn't name the author.
[It has the cadence of a tanka. Five lines, nature metaphors, five-seven-five-seven-five syllables (mostly.)
He really should look into Japanese poetry more. It's rather embarrassing not to be able to name half the poets.]
