They're definitely different in some ways. Apparently even hearing about other shinki learning about their pasts is a danger to them, which is why the old gods are so testy about that part. The nora thing is just traditionalism, though, as far as I can tell.

The only times he really considers it particularly sketchy is in instances like a while ago when someone was essentially trying to rent themselves out to gods on the BBS.
