What: Leo is teaching Forrest dark magic!

[When Forrest told him that a tome and a Heart Seal had shown up in his closet, Leo told him to come by once he'd used the Seal for lessons. In the meantime, Leo cleared out one of the rooms and prepared space in the gardens for Forrest's lessons.

He's never actually taught anyone dark magic like this before, so he's a bit nervous. He knows he can do it, it's just a matter of never having done it.]

[And here's Forrest, wearing the garb of a sorcerer and looking none too pleased about it. He didn't want to make Leo wait, but it's clear that black is not his color. Shuffling in place, he tugs at a long sleeve.]

Ah... r-ready when you are.

If you want to go grab a cloak or a sweater to wear with that, I can wait. Gods know I did.

[Because seriously.]

It can even be pink or whatever other color you'd like.

Oh, thank goodness.

[Forrest just kind of blurts that out, looking a bit sheepish immediately after but briefly nodding his head in thanks all the same.]

I-I mean, thank you. I'll be right back.

[With a pink cloak.]

[Leo chuckles and waits for Forrest to return, double checking their curse components. They'll start with a withering curse, fairly simple.]

--oh, damn, Forrest! Bring salt out with you! And not table salt!

Salt! Got it!

[He's not terribly well versed in this sort of thing, but he does manage to find some sea salt. Hopefully that's what Leo is looking for.]

Is this it?

That will work, yes.

[He takes the salt and pours some out into the small wooden bowl he has.]

We're trying a withering curse first.

We're practicing on... fruit or something, right?

[brynwieldr]

Flowers. They're a bit simpler and still alive.

[He gestures to the flowers he'd picked up from a nursery just for this.]

[clothes_make_the_man]

Right. Of course.

[It's going to take a while to get over the nervousness.]

[brynwieldr]

[Leo gestures to the salt and the basin of water he set out]

Wet your hands and then coat them with the salt. Once you get better at it, you won't need all these components but for now you do.

[clothes_make_the_man]

That's fine. I prefer to take this slowly.

[And he trusts Leo, even with as nervous as he is, so he does as he's told.]

Good. Now, some people think they need to chant or something to make it work but I've never had to so maybe you won't either--and if you do it won't be for long. Focus on that red flower there and make it wither.

[clothes_make_the_man]

All right... here I go.

[Forrest nods, closing his eyes and holding his hand out toward the flower.]

...Is it working?

[It is not.]

Not quite. Find that part of you that you pull your healing magic from and try to focus that on the flower.

[Forrest takes a short breath, refocusing and giving it another try.]
