It's just inefficient for something that's supposed to last for an entire day. Part of the point of singing is that the energy is active and prolonged for the duration of it- That's what I'm guessing at this point. It'd make more sense if there were wards and talismans being crafted for that purpose; like what they do for the meeting hall's defenses.
