Summary: Archer keeps himself and his fellow shinki busy with investigating the cult during Caster's prolonged sleep, brings his god up to date with everything that's happened once he's awake, and puts his analytic skills to use.



[M32 - That Old Black Cult Magic; closed to Ginia] starts Nov 16th

[Archer never does anything in halves. That's why he's going to check all the possible leads on the cultists. Checking if the draining blight circle during the yearly gods' meeting was caused by them takes priority. Archer considers the possibilities carefully.]

What do you think about pretending to be some kind of officials checking the security software in the whole area?




OTA Near Shore Nov 16th-17th

[For someone with such striking look Archer can blend in remarkably well when he makes an attempt. He's dressed in casual clothes - black coat over a button up shirt and pants, topping the look with simple black frames. While it's clear he went for a simple salaryman look, he looks anything but ordinary.

OTA Far Shore Nov 18th-26th

[While Archer can be usually seen around the Far Shore, especially in the Western District that he tends to patrol quite often, he's even more elusive than usual. If met in Western District he's accompanied by one of Caster's big white dogs and seems more approachable and less scowling than usual.]




[closed to Caster] Nov 24th; Dún Dealgan

[Archer gives his god enough time to check on all of his shinki and do some other things before approaching him. He puts a new, silver-and-blue laptop in front of Caster and drops a CD right next to it.]

Do you want a summary of all that happened so far? [that prolonged sleep took two weeks, and Heavens always keeps them busy.]

[Ginia nods absently at Archer's suggestion, already looking at the telephone poles and street lights for cameras. None around here, though the area is a fairly quiet residential area.

She pulls out her phone and pulls up the map of the area to study all the intersections.]

What if we move over to this intersection toward the center? It's a high traffic area so there might be more cameras around.

[Archer glances over her shoulder at the map as he tries to pinpoint the exact location of the area. There are at least few shops there.]

It will take us closer to where it happened, if I remember right. Shops and small businesses may have surveillance, but I'm not sure if there's a public one. Still worth a try. [Archer looks from the map to the buildings; he's sure he's been here.] Two days of playing door-to-door salesmen if we're lucky.

This area might not have its own public security system, and if it does, it's a higher chance the footage saves to server elsewhere instead of local hardware. I'm banking more on private cameras with businesses and residents. [Especially with her method of "hacking" more akin to a smash and grab than any skilled technical work. But pulling some kind of official status could work very well.]

Wait here a second, I have an idea. [Ginia signs as they pass near a convenience store. She quickly runs inside and comes out a few minutes later with a clipboard and a stack of generic carbon copy forms.]

There. Now we look more official.

Good. [Archer nods. It adds more credibility to their disguise; such small details are important. He shouldn't overlook it the next time. Archer narrows his eyes; he needs to focus on the mission, not allow himself to get distracted.

He casts quick glances at their surroundings as they walk, his eyes trained on all the possible spots where cameras may be hidden. There, a parking lot to the side for residents only. Archer inclines his head in its direction.]

[While Archer looks for cameras, Ginia considers the surroundings. It's not only a matter of finding cameras, but cameras with footage of the streets or other high traffic areas without being too wide or too narrow. She looks at the lot Archer indicates and nods.

Outdoor lot with limited covered parking. One way in and out, a handful of lights around the perimeter. Mirror mounted to assist in viewing incoming traffic. Ginia smiles and points out the camera straight ahead and the one diagonal to the entrance.]

I'll check the one ahead, you get the one in the corner?

Near Shore

[ Mordred doesn't need much of an excuse to make her way to the Near Shore; after all, there's always something new and interesting for her to see here. While there's plenty to experience her solo trips are usually short-lived since she quickly grows bored without company.

The shinki is busy considering whether she should return to the Far Shore when she picks a familiar face out of the crowd. Raising her arm to get his attention she barks over the chatter of bystanders. ]

Yo, Archer!

[ Grinning, Mordred promptly makes her way toward him and once she's close enough to notice his specs her smile widens further. ]

What the heck are you wearing?

[Archer knows that it will take time and patience to find anything, if they're lucky. He walks at brisk pace to the camera, staying so that he doesn't block its view. It doesn't take long for the janitor to appear. Archer bows and launches into prepared tale - they're here to check the security systems in the area, yes they're really late, but what to expect from all the paperwork, etc etc. Finally Archer waves to Ginia, and then bows again.]

Far Shore

Archer! You're looking cheerful today.

[Cheerful being more approachable than usual. Which is definitely out of the ordinary.]

[Ginia approaches the camera with the confidence of someone who knows what she's doing (or at least is good at faking it). She studies the cables going into the camera, tracking them back into the building. The lens of the camera is clean and the grime around the access panel is lower, consistent with someone regularly checking things. The model and brand of the camera is jotted down on the forms as the janitor comes out. Archer handles him like a pro, pulling off the ruse with confident ease. It's admirable.

The janitor smiles and waves, leaving them to their business; he'll forget about the encounter soon enough. Ginia walks over to Archer.]

Are we good to break in? Though I guess it's more borrowing if we have permission.

Near Shore

[ Avoiding his new god a bit in the Near Shore for a while is what Obi's currently up to, but that might just be him. ]

[ Okay, that's a great observation but at least it's not the first thing he said to Archer's face. If Archer heard him or not is a question. Obi said it from on top of the lamp post he's sitting on. He calls down a little louder, ]

You didn't come by to get the greeting, and we waited... [ Hey, man you said it yourself you want a greeting "like that". And then you go and stealthily returns to the Temple so no one notices... of course it's all just a joke. As Casters eyes the laptop with just a hint of confusion. ]

That thing, it costs a lot, right? [ Which brings him to realizing small thing, and he pats his forehead-- ] Ah- I lost the job, didn't I?

[ Expensive things = costs money = money from part-time job = that job he wasn't in for like three weeks ]

I'm sure you've had more important things to discuss. [Archer closes one eye in a forced wink as he settles right next to Caster, leaning slightly against his god.]

Ginia needed her own laptop, and I've had saved enough to buy one for each of us. This way you won't stumble upon her porn stash by accident.

[Bad thing is that Archer's hearing is more acute than a normal human, and he's aware that high perches are a perfect perch for a stray shinki, thus he keeps an eye out not only on ground level.]

I'm blending in. [he deadpans, not looking very surprised at the sudden inquiry or at Obi's perch.]

[That's not someone Archer expected to see here, especially not during his mission. Oh well, things happen when your luck is rank E and nothing happens according to the plan.]

Saber, it's good to see you. [he greets her with customary smirk.] It's a disguise. I take it doesn't meet your standards?

[ At least it's a compliment he overhears. And Obi isn't too concerned about whether or not he is overheard. ]

Not that you're not doing an amazing job at looking like a dashing young office worker [ he thinks it's office worker, though he's not entirely sure what an office worker is meant to mean here ] but you don't really need to do that.

Or she won't upon mine. Smart [ He doesn't have a porn stash. Yet- are you making it a challenge Archer?

Caster opens the laptop, turns it on and waits until the system of login and password comes-up ] Okay, now you gotta tell me what password you made for me and how do I change it afterward? Then we can do the summary thing.

Why, I'll take it as a compliment. [Archer smirks in response. Young, huh? At least he's not fourty.]

Humans are more inclined to believe your words if you look the way they expect you to. [with his tan and hair so white it may look bleached Archer looks more like a deliquent than a honest office worker, but details.]

I'm afraid such extreme measures would be counterproductive. [Archer isn't even trying to imagine himself with fake moustache, that's a bit too over the top.]

It's much easier to make them believe you're whom you are impersonating if you dress the part.

Far Shore

[Archer hasn't realized that he adapted a softer expression. Pal, seeing Lancer, pounces him happily. At least the dog doesn't hide his happiness.]

Yeah, even I get days like this. [he answers dryly.] Are you running errands or just a morning jog?

[ That's so predictable anyone could hack- but hackers are on his mind right now. He inputs the login and passwords and clicks around idly for a moment. He had seen a computer okay, he was taught a bit how to use one at the part-time job too. But he never before had one of his own- ]

So how much I owe you now? [ He'll probably need to find a new job, but eh, possible. Also there is some income due to the offerings- he's not the most popular god around by any means, but his presence is becoming known ]

I think so. Can you work with that? [Archer indicates the camera. He's marking the location on his phone, adnoting the model and brand of the camera as well as its range of view. It's better to take note of everything, in case they have to revisit.] Just to be safe find the recording from 8:00pm to midnight on 30th October.

[Ginia gives a devilish grin and sheds her backpack. She pulls out the multitool and screwdriver set they'd picked up at the store and sticks them into her pockets before climbing up to the security camera. The camera is just high enough to avoid anyone tampering with, but still low enough to reach with a ladder or some old-fashioned climbing skills.

Ginia clings to the post with her legs, striking down a thin borderline to brace her back against as she opens the access panel.

The good news is the camera saves footage locally.

The bad news is there's no way to check for specific ranges. Good thing they brought a laptop with them. Ginia pulls the SD card out of the camera and drops it for Archer to catch.]

We might have better luck copying everything off the card. More work to look through, but also a larger chance of finding something.

[Archer is perfectly content with giving Caster a moment to get used to the new 'toy'. He's also completely fine with offering helpful hints.]

Get a job and then we'll talk. Come to the parlor, they're hiring again. [he suggests. While their boss won't remember hiring Caster before, it shouldn't be a problem.]
