Laser Tag/Arcade/Onsen Open Log

Who: Chinatsu and anyone and everyone!
When: December 6th
Where: The Near Shore
What: Fun times with laser tag, the arcade, food, and onsen at the end! A mingle log for people to just have fun after everything that's happened. Feel free to make your own top levels and just interact with people. Might be a good way to meet some new CR too!

Round 2

Welcome to Round 2! The place to go when one wishes to forget responsibilities, stuff their faces, and legally shoot people! From laser tag to virtual reality to classic arcade games. A place for fun for those with physical prowess to those who prefer to hide behind the safety of their screens. Let your inner kid loose in this mostly judgement free zone. Mostly, because children cant be pretty brutal.

Laser Tag

Whether it be 2 players against each other or full on teams, put on your vests and charge up your guns! Players will be lead into a chamber where they can find their equipment and choose which color to swear allegiance to. Will you choose the pink, blue, purple, green, or white team?

All teams have the same equipment: a vest, a gun attached to it, and an armband. Your armband will display your warrior name, as well as the number of points you’ve accumulated. It will also flash the handle of anyone who has successfully taken a shot at you, in case you want to hunt them down after the game for revenge. Flashing targets are located on a player’s back, shoulders, and chest. The chest will get you 10 points as it is the smallest target. The shoulders will give you 5, and the back will get you 3, because that’s just sneaky. Get to your opponent’s base and aim for for the marker. If you manage to keep it in your team’s color by the end of the game, you win!

After listening to the game rules, the doors will slide open to a pitch black room, glow in the dark spray paint covering the maze of walls inside. A fog machine lets out a continuous stream of smoke, in case your vision wasn’t hampered enough. Watch your step! There are slopes and steps, that can lead you to higher ground or a place to hide. The walls have openings to provide cover and a prime position to attack. When you exit, you can see the rankings on the tv screen to see who earned the most points for bragging rights.

Please refrain from physically attacking people with either yourself or your gun. Other than that, take down your opponent however you can. Most importantly, have fun!

Arcade Games

For those that don’t want to get too sweaty or would like something less stressful, check out the arcade! They’ve got kid friendly games like wacman and super bario, and games for the older crowd like Tennant Evil. Try to win some cute but strangely designed stuffed toys in the crane machine or take some purikura. Collect as many tickets as you can and claim a prize from the booth. Please be courteous of other guests and keep in mind that their are children around. So please, watch your language. Or else :)

Food

Seems even the restaurants are into games. Up for a challenge? Can you eat a giant plate of barbecued meat? A 12 inch deep dish pizza? A bowl or ramen that can fit five regular bowls in it? Take on each restaurant's heaviest meal and score some free food! Maybe you’ll even get your face on the wall of fame. Don’t worry, they have regular sized meals too. They’ve got ice cream and crepes for dessert, as well as some very instagram worthy bubble tea drinks.

Onsen

On a more relaxing note, slip into the warm, healing waters of the onsen. Robes, towels, all your bathing needs will be provided. There is a divider between the male and female sections, but you can still hold a conversation with the other side if you speak loud enough. Chat with your friends or even strangers. What better way to get to know someone than by washing their back?

An area is available to have footbaths regardless of gender, as well as common room with massage chairs to sit back and relax in. Have some tea or milk while you're at it!

[That's not an answer. Well, it is an answer, but it's a bit broad. How is she supposed to find a nice dinner date location for Caster and Lancer if Lancer only wants whatever makes Caster happy, and Caster is okay with everything?

By that logic, anything will do, but Ginia wants something special for the two of them.]

I know you aren't picky, but if you could have the best version of your favorite food, what would it be?

I think we've been spoiled by Archer, you know. Whatever he makes is always just delicious.

[ Yeah, he's not helping. But if he had to think about feasts back in his hey-day... the food was totally different. Different ingredients, different seasoning. Maybe that's the way he should think to find answer to this question. ]

It's been ages [ literally ] since I had some good flavoursome mutton and a cup of ale. A cut with honey, or made in a stew with root vegetables... Wonder if they're still doing them back on my island.

[Archer really does spoil them. At first Ginia worried Archer was going all out because she was new to the temple and trying to make her feel welcome or working too hard to keep all the three of them fed. She's realized over time cooking is his way of caring and he enjoys it beyond a sense of duty. It's nice and she doesn't take it for granted.]

If Archer had a restaurant, I bet it'd be super popular.

[If people of the Near Shore remembered them at least. But hmmm, mutton and ale. That she can work with.]

[ Caster's blissfully unaware that Ginia is trying to set him up, and he focuses on her words exactly ]

Hey, let's do that. [ Let's make Archer a restaurant. ] He likes working with food anyway if we had something of our own we could do all stupid ideas we want with it.

[ Want to stage a live for musically inclined Far Shorers? Sure thing. Open game night? Go ahead. Poetry reading? Of course ]

I suppose we still can do them in the temple but... the restaurant would double as getting followers, no?

[The comment was mostly glib, but as Caster goes with it, Ginia considers it more. It would be fun having a place more people could socialize at and more people definitely need to try out Archer's cooking. And if it attracted the attention of the Near Shore, sure, it'd be a way to get followers.

But...]

Do you think Archer wants a restaurant of his own?

I wonder- I guess the question is if he enjoys cooking more than he enjoys cooking for friends.

[ Those are similar but different objectives. Both include the same activity, but one derives satisfaction from just doing a good job, and other from making someone important happy. ]

He likes making others happy. But that shouldn't come at expense of his own happiness.

[ If they come excited with the restaurant idea he might agree because he sees it's something the temple wants. So that would defeat the "but does Archer WANTS a restaurant of his own?" Caster splashes the water again and runs his hand through his hair in a frustrated gesture ]

Ahh, I don't get him at times.

[Sometimes Ginia wonders if Archer even knows what he wants. They are people driven by duty and the happiness of others. He ordered her once to enjoy things and to be a bit selfish all in the act of betterment and becoming a better person. If someone gave him the same order, would he listen? Or did someone already? She lifts her head to glance aside at Caster.

He's a good god for them. Laid back enough to force them to relax, dutiful enough to give them something to do, and someone worth protecting and caring about.]

I wonder if he knows how much people care about him. How much we care about him. And that sometimes it's okay letting other people take care of him.

[ Funnily enough, someone did. That someone might have even occasionally regretted that, but only for a second or two. He wouldn't take that back ]

Heh... [ The chuckle lacks the usual humour. Care, huh? Can Servants even genuinely care for each other? Isn't there some imperative saying "MURDER" written on them by default? Not really, or rather not always, one could say. All depends on place and magic involved. No one here wants to kill each other- there is literally no need to it. Besides, it's not like it matters - Archer can't remember anything anyway. But then what about him? He's still competitive with the bastard, memories or not. Not because he has to, but because he likes to.

Is it too early or too late to start considering the word "care" hmm ]

Damn, he's so hopeless. But it would be way too sad to just give-up on him.

[ Fuck yeah, roundabout, tsun way of saying things ]

[The problem with being tsun is sometimes the true message gets lost along the way. Ginia's mood dips, the warmer edges of her happiness softening as doubt sets in. She pulls her feet out of the water, sticking them out in front. It's getting too warm, her feet are getting wrinkly, she assures herself, pretending it's not because she's prepared to run.]

Am I hopeless too?

[Ginia stares into the water, watching the drips fall off her legs and ripple across the surface.]

[ Huh. And that leap comes from where? ]

No. [ The sudden question throws him off the rails and he looks at her with a genuine confuzzlement. They were ~~gossipping~~ talking about Archer, he thought that much was clear. ]

What brought this up?

[ He catches her hand, as he'd rather have her talk with him than run away. ]

You said Archer was hopeless. If he's hopeless, am I the same?

[She came to the temple ready and capable of fighting, but didn't have much else to offer in terms of skills. If she's good at helping out with the chores or cooking, it's only because she shadowed Archer, helping him in the early hours before anyone else woke up. They're both wrapped up in duty and serving others, the rough parts of their personality tempered by the lack of memories.]

[ Is she seeing herself as that similar to Archer? They're both fighters, they both prefer long-range weapons, that much can he tell. They're also taking duties seriously, but that's applicable to everyone in their temple, even the dogs.

Personality wise they're totally different, but there must be a connection she finds with him, a connection that made her extrapolate whatever he said about him to herself ]

Hey- Whatever I say about him, I say about him.

[ That was a mistake, getting too chummy with his shinki. They're not his friends- well they are but not just that. He's their god, their leader, and there are some things a superior shouldn't be saying his to his subordinates. A fact he always knew, but also a fact he never had to keep in mind- he never was a leader, never wanted to be one. ]

What I say about you, I say about you. I don't know what you're thinking, but you're completely different. You're not hopeless, Ginia.

[Caster's answer is reassuring on her front, but she's not entirely satisfied either. Ginia braces her feet on the edge of the pool, smooth stone cool against her soles.]

Archer isn't hopeless.

[If she isn't, then Archer can't be. And if Archer can't be here to defend himself, she'll do it for him. Archer and Caster can be mean with each other in ways they never dare with her or Lancer, that she understands. Archer is his exemplar, his... Ginia isn't sure what their relationship is, but she knows they're together (even as they're quick to tell her their relationship is open).

It can't hurt being nice to Archer once in awhile.]

I'll never give up on him.

[ Is she being now insulted in Archer's stead? That's unexpectedly---- heartwarming. It's good to see his shinki get along with each other so well. Incredible. ]

Yeah, you do that. [ Caster's tone and expression softens. ] Stand beside him, and he will do exactly the same. I'm sure of it.

[ Maybe with a surprise here and there, but while his methods can be questionable it's clear he is always looking towards the bigger picture ]

Heh, you sure told me off good. [ And he deserved that ]

[Caster is a god, he can do as he wants, but aren't shinki also their moral guides? Ginia vacillates between apologizing and accepting his words. If it means Caster is nicer to Archer, it's fine, right?]

It's my job as shinki, right? Serve as your weapon, be your moral compass?

[The first part is easy, she hasn't really as useful on the second front.]

[ That does not get brought up often, the moral compass thing. But now suddenly it all falls into place. ]

True, good job on that. [ In his mind, what he said, or rather what he meant through his words was pretty positive. Quite a round-about way of saying that despite all of this, he wouldn't give up on Archer either- not after everything they went through here, he deserves that much. But to get it misunderstood and earn a stern lecture... ] Do I really sound this shitty?

[ His lingo might be pretty modern, but he is still carrying a set of ancient biases. ]

[It's Ginia's turn to balk. She sits up, running through the conversation. Had some come off too harsh on him? That hadn't been her intent. Her concern was more finding clarity on his stance on her and Archer.

Miscommunication happens at even the best of times. She gathers her thoughts, chewing a bit on her lip as she looks for her words.]

If you two want to be mean to each other, that's fine. I know Archer gives you whatever you dish out to him. But when he's not around, it could be taken as you're talking negatively about him.

I see, I see- [ He nods almost thoughtfully ] So I take he doesn't talk like that when I'm away...

[ The 'vitriolic best buds' play works only if both of the people involved are on it. If not- then he really should contain his tongue a little. Especially if it makes Ginia doubt what he thinks about her. He steps out of the water, to get a towel, and he sits to dry his feet- ]

When I found he was meant to be my shinki, I wasn't sure if it's a good thing- but I guess we both were determined to make the deal work and it went surprisingly well? We might not always see eye to eye on some issues, but isn't that what Exemplar is for?

[ Someone agreeable, someone afraid to speak their mind, could be a disaster for him. He turns to face Ginia because if he's going to say that aloud, it's too important to be done in any other way. ]

I respect him. [ And the world ended- but his issue was also that Archer does not respect himself at all ] And he's doing good job. And that is something that I can say about every of my shinki - you and Lancer. It's an honor to work along your side.

[ Thanks for putting up with me ]

...if he ever makes fun of this I'll know it's because you told him.

[ So don't tell him. Or if you tell him, make sure he pretends he doesn't know. Or something ]

["When I found he was meant to be my shinki..." The implication Caster knows Archer from before sinks in and it brings everything else in Ginia's mind to a screeching halt. It's a dangerous thing to think and wonder on the past, but it's not her past but Archer's, but the question "does he know me" wiggles in.

Nope.

Nope.

Nope.

The block in her memories and need for self-preservation hauls her away before she can think too deeply on the subject, though her wide eyes and stillness might give her thoughts away.]

[But Ginia catches the rest of Caster's words as she steers herself back to safety. Exemplar. A moral compass to their god, a guide to the other shinki in the temple. It's a job she knows she couldn't do and maybe wouldn't want to given the chance. It's easier following someone else's orders, but making her own decisions and serving as a guide?

It's a good thing Archer is the exemplar. He's a good one.]

It's an honor to serve.

[A small smile accompanies her eletronic words, a small bow of her head.]

And I won't say a word to him about this conversation.
