[OPEN] a number of things

Who: Yamanbagiri Kunihiro, a troop spirit and you!
When: IC: Dec 6 - 13
Where: Near Shore, Far Shore.
What: While browsing a shop, Yamanbagiri meet Ain. On another day, Yamanbagiri take the troop out for (a walk) training around the Far Shore. Over at the Near Shore, he find himself helping out with Tokyo's light decoration problems.

► A. Mundane Moment [Closed to Ain, Near Shore] (IC: Dec 6)
While Yamanbagiri does take his duties seriously, it doesn't always mean he's stuck to his routine. Sometimes, he would step away from his usual patrol and just check the Near Shore. Mostly to explore and check what's going on.

If anyone asks, he can say it's to see if anything's up. It's a good excuse to make him feel productive.

And that's exactly why he's browsing a grocery store. Except this time, he's really seeing what they have in stock. Maybe he can get ideas for cooking dinner. A task he didn't really need to do, but he does like seeing the happy faces from people eating his meals. A little something to relieve their fatigue from the day's stress.

Taking advantage of his lack of presence to the Near Shore residents, Yamanbagiri's dressed as normal. So to people who noticed him—or just fellow Far Shore residents—he would look like a strange cosplayer shopping. Or just some suspicious guy, because who wears a hooded cloak in the open like this?

With a frown, he's muttering to himself as he consider his options.

► B. Training Run [Open, Far Shore] (Dec 7-10)
Ever since the troop appeared in his... well, not "life", but the afterlife, Yamanbagiri have been trying to train him. Or them, since the horse almost always seems to be by the troop's side.

Regardless, now he have to account for the horse as well.

Anyone walking around may see a small dust cloud being kicked up, as if something is running really fast. It's the troop on his horse, almost racing ahead of Yamanbagiri running after him.

"Oi, you don't need to scout that far!"

Maybe you see them during your walk. Or maybe the troop is about to enter your temple's grounds. Or maybe he's charging right at you?!

► C. Light's Out [Open, Near Shore] (Dec 12-13)
During one of his trips down to the Near Shore, Yamanbagiri overheard about the light problems. One thing lead to another, and he found himself volunteering to set up, and maybe figure out what the problem is.

"The lights seem to be working earlier, but they're suddenly having problems once they're set up..."

Which sounds almost suspiciously like something (read: ayakashi) is the cause. He turns to the person he's working with.

"What do you think?" He's learning towards 'ayakashi problem' himself.

(OOC: Troop can appear in this scenario, just mention it if you want him.)

[ Ain has gotten better at disguising himself and trapping his aura, so that he merely appears as a sleepy guy with way too much hair when he wanders around the Near Shore. Today is the day he decides to try his hand at cooking properly and hopefully make something nice.

The problem is that no one seems to notice him even when he tries to ask them something, so he's left standing awkwardly in the middle of the shop while humans pass him by. Eventually his cat leaves its perch on his head and wanders over to Yaman, batting a paw at his cloak and then walking a few steps to his owner to get Yaman to follow. ]

[A cat? Well, animals can see them. With a blink, he follows the cat to where it's leading him.]

... Hm?

[And see a familiar looking person, standing so awkwardly in the middle of the shop. Blinking, he walks over towards Ain.]

[ Oh, it's the youth with a hood last time. Ain remembers him. ]

How do you ask them things?

[ He motions to the shopkeeper who's... very adamantly not noticing him for obvious reasons. ]

[He looks at the shopkeeper, and then back at Ain. Yeah, he can see the problem here.]

Is this your first time? [It seems obvious.] You just need to get their attention, like tapping them or speaking up.

[ It figures, since Ain has just been hovering around them like some sort of anxious bird. ]

Is that okay?

[ He's never touched a human before. What if something happens? ]

The troop is charging forward, dust billowing from the tiny hooves of his horse, and a massive, thick-furred dog lets out a basso woof! and races out through the red-painted arch in the garden wall that the troop gallops past. Behind him, on the other side of the wall, someone calls out in a tone of sharp command.

"Bon! Stop!"

The dog, tongue lolling with excitement, completely ignores the voice.

[He can understand that. He was there before.]

Yeah, it's fine as long you're just asking them. They'll forget about us afterwards, anyway.

Oh. Oh no. Yamanbagiri quicken his pace after them, now chasing after the troop and a dog.

"Oi! Scram!" That's for the dog. He did know the troop can fight and handle things, but he didn't know what happens if he get injured too much. "And troop, come back to me!"

The troop is still charging away, until he starts to stir the horse around in a curve... and try to chase the dog?

"Mm, I don't know. Maybe the outlet or something is loose?" It's not that ayakashi couldn't be a cause, but it just seemed ridiculous. What would the ayakashi gain from doing that other than being annoying?

"If they said it was fine when they tested it, then it's not like it's busted. "

Suzaku had agreed to come with Yamanbagiri when he had asked him, he figured he owed him for helping him out in the forest after Lady Grell had disappeared. So volunteering to help him investigate some strange lights was the least he could do.

"I'm not sure." They were working earlier but once they were all set up they stopped... "Could it be a power surge? They have a lot of lights on, perhaps something is set up wrong?"

He know it might be something stranger, like ayakashi but it was best they at least tried to rule out all of the mudane possibilities first.

"We should have a look, do you know what kind of energy source they are using?"

[Hijikata's on his way home from the library with a few books on divine history tucked into his stylish, modern satchel. He could teleport back, sure, but it's a pleasant enough walk, and the late autumn air is bracing, and maybe he just sort of likes taking a little bit of time to get places and enjoy the view along the way now and then. Even if he's a god now, life's too short to go without that sort of thing if you can help it.]

[He's eyeing some lingering, bright red leaves on the trees along the path and kicking ideas for a poem about them when he spots that odd little cloud of dust approaching. It moves faster than he initially expects, which he supposes sort of makes sense when it turns out to be... a tiny horse? And an equally tiny rider?]

[He squints down at them, his lit cigarette dangling half-forgotten between his lips, trying to figure out what to even think about that.]

[Someone calls out, and Hijikata looks up, finally remembering to at least pluck the cigarette out of his mouth before he talks.]

Is this your... friend, or something?

Bon lets loose another earthshaking bark, skidding to a stop as the troop turns to face him. He bows down, front paws splayed wide and tail wagging madly, and then bounds towards the tiny cavalry soldier.

He's ready to play. Hakkai, finally working his way to the gate, breaks into a run. Bon probably won't hurt the tiny person or his tiny horse, at least not on purpose. Bon might try to tackle them and roughhouse. And, while the man's weapons are miniature, they look real from here.

"Bon, sit!"

Obi doesn't generally stay at his god's place yet, but he does hang around at the fringe of it, spying on her sometimes. Which is why he's even in the vicinity at all when the troop is headed up toward Inti's temple. He's in a tree, and he hears the sound of tiny hoofs and a voice and Obi swings around on his branch so he's hanging upside down from it to watch curiously.

[ Easy enough in theory, but it's hard to shake the subtle uneasiness that lingers. Still, he won't be able to get his work done otherwise, so he supposes he must... ]

Okay.

[ With the cat following him, he walks up to one of the store attendants and waves at them. When that doesn't work, he pokes them on the shoulder with a finger, and tries to ask them about miso soup.

He's taken to the right aisle, but the attendant leaves immediately afterward, so he's left staring at the various types of soup stock... ]

[He watches him for a moment. It seems like he's doing fine. Yamanbagiri turns to resume browsing the shop.

... Only to come across Ain just... standing there at the aisle. With a blink, he looks between him and the various soup stock.]

... Are you alright?

Is the troop seriously going to charge into the dog? And meet it in a clash? Oh dear, Yamanbagiri doesn't want the dog to get hurt because of this.

"Troop, stand down!"

The horse neigh loudly, as the troop seem startled and pull the leash back. They're now kind of sliding against the group, and still getting closer to the dog. Which comes first, the collide or the stop?

"Probably. But if it's something like that, wouldn't they send a... repair person to look at it?"

The people who handles electricity and cables.

"Or it's really recent and they haven't contact them." That, or they don't want to pay the bill for a specialist. He looks up. "The best way to find out is actually getting up there."

"They're using electricity. So maybe from a nearby generator for the building."

Let's see, Yamanbagiri looks around until his eyes fall on a door. It's labelled "STAFF ONLY" quite clearly.

"If we're going to look, the best path would be the back areas for the staff."

[The tiny rider and the horse stops in front of Hijikata. If Hijikata looks carefully, the rider seems like he's dressed for battle. The troop and the horse stare Hijikata for a moment, before pointing at him.

Once Yamanbagiri catches up, the troop turns to look at him and just... gesturing wildly with his arms. Blinking for a moment, Yamanbagiri turn his gaze towards Hijikata.]

... Yeah, I guess so. They're with me. [After glancing down for a moment, he asks.] He's not bothering you, right?

[Hijikata shrugs, and almost says “no,” but then sort of pauses, thinking better of it.]

What’s he pointing at me like that for?

[It’s kinda rude?]

Bon, finally realizing he's hearing commands, flops down in mid-bound into a sitting position. He skids, thick fur sliding him along the dust of the path, and the two meet: not in a collision, but in the soft bouff! sound of a small sliding horse plowing into the immensely fuzzy flank of a very large dog.

Bon looks over at Hakkai, and opens his mouth in a doggy grin. Hakkai slows back down to a walk, sighing, and glances over at the young man in the cloak.

"I'm sorry about this. I'm still working on training him. Is, ah, are you two friends?"

He gestures towards the mounted soldier extricating himself from Bon's fur.

[ He's sure these words mean something, but they don't to him. They're just names that he can't match to items.

It's good that Yaman peers at him now, because he might have continued to stand here for a while. ]

I don't know which one is the right one...

[ ... he should say what he's looking for, right? ]

I heard... there was one that's not so salty... but they all look the same.

[ Similarly unintelligible. ]

Electricity. That was a little unusual but Suzaku nodded and looked around himself. He nodded at Yamanbagiri and headed over to the door labled for staff.

The door was unlocked, which was lucky but not unsurprising given the amount of technicians looking around. Suzaku headed through into the generator room. "Do you know much about fixing things?"

The source of the sound belong to... a very small soldier and his equally as small horse. They look up at Obi for a moment, before the soldier seems to be... excited.

And pull out what seems to be a small paper and small pen, writing on it quickly.

That little soldier seems familiar for some reason. Obi puts a hand over his eyes to shadow them, though since he's upside down it doesn't really help in the least against the sun.

"What are you writing, Little One?" Collecting information, is it? Is an upside down guy in a leafless tree interesting?
