When waking in a new environment
Who: Suzaku and Adrien. Also Shin if he wants!
What: Suzaku wakes up after five days but not where he fell asleep.
When: 1st January
Where: Bast's temple
Warnings:
The moment Suzaku woke he knew something was wrong. This wasn't where he had fallen asleep. Not a room in Lord Kija's temple at all. Nor was it Princess Yona's temple where they had spent Christmas eve.
He had definitely returned with Lord Kija. Suzaku sat up taking a mental stock of his surroundings. He was in a bed. In his sleep clothes. He was not restrained or injured past the couple of training bruises he had earned with how distracted he had been during the last training day.
He pulled back the covers and stood up. A bed room. But not one he had been I'm before. A window, a door. Suzaku went straight to the door. He listened, to hear if any sounds gave clues to his whereabouts.
The door wasn't locked. This situation was strange and Suzaku was not going to let down his guard but he did not seem to be in immediate danger. He looked out into the corridor before stepping out, ready.

Adrien had left Quinn with Marinette and Snake for now. He worried about them but he knew that Quinn would come get him if things changed. They were a good snake. And he'd left Plagg with Suzaku. Plagg, who had grudgingly stirred from his sleeping spot seeing Suzaku get up, moving to hover along with him.
'You're skittish as a kitten. Don't worry, you're at Adrien's temple. My Kitten takes good care of his friends.' And Plagg is moving ahead on Suzaku letting himself be seen this time as he starts toward Adrien's room leading him along - they'll have to cross the top of the stairs in front of the portrait of Adrien and Emilie the sound of music getting louder the closer they get.
'He carried you here after your cat came to him. He's making a habit of carrying people around like princesses.'
They'll find Adrien still in his pajamas, blond hair a mess but when he hears Plagg he turns to look over his shoulder. "Plagg, be nice." He's stopping his playing abruptly, turning on the bench. "How are you feeling?"
no subject
But why? Suzaku followed the music still listening to Plagg as he explained that he'd been carried here after Kotetsu had come to Adrien. He blushed slightly but blinked at Adrien, who was a talented pianist it turned out.
"What's the situation?" He looked around. "How long was I sleeping?"
And why had he been carried here? His hand came up to behind his ear, where his name was. He couldn't see of course and you couldn't feel shinki names but worry was beginning to grow.

"As for the situation, I suspect that your god may have vanished. Judging by where I found you and the fact that when I checked after putting you to bed his name was no longer in the system.. I could be wrong. I don't know what his god is so he might still be there under that but I doubt it."
Adrien moved to him seeing him reach up behind his ear. "If your name was there it isn't anymore." He's resting a hand lightly on his shoulder. "You're welcome to stay here. The temple is large enough, we have food enough. If you want to stay until your next assignment I'd be happy for the extra hands." Since he was trying to keep an eye on Marinette, Snake and Dust.

He smiles brightly at the other shinki, "We've been worried about you. We have way too many spare rooms anyway. You should stay for a while, and I think Dust would love another training partner." He laughs a little, "one that is actually capable of keeping up with him."
He wasn't exactly a nurse, but he had done what he could to help Suzaku while he was unconscious. It'd been a bit of a bitter time, and Adrien would have had no problem recognising the worry in his own shinki. Adrien had done his best to comfort Shin, but there wasn't much comfort to be found regarding disappearing gods.
Shin stifles these anxieties behind a smile as he chirps, "how are you feeling?"

Adrien's hand on his shoulder told him more than his words what Suzaku had guessed to be true. Lord Kija was gone. His hand dropped away from his ear as Adrian told him the name was no longer there.
Before he could really process any of that or think about Adrien's offer to stay Shin entered.
"I..." How was he feeling? Honestly he didn't know. Adrien had been the one to tell him back when he first arrived that it was not a shinki's fault if their god disappeared but Suzaku had only been in the heavens two months and he had lost both his gods.
"If you need my assistance I can stay. Thank you for helping me whilst I was sleeping."
no subject
"It's okay. I know this is hard for you. I've never lost a God or a Shinki but I know it's got to hurt a lot. And it's okay to not know how you feel about it. You're fine though. No matter what happens you have a place to stay here." He's not going to push matters by offering to name him. He's going to let Suzaku make up his own mind about what he wants to do rather than assume he knows what's best.
"We would be happy for your help all things considered. Marinette went to sleep so it's just the four of us trying to manage things." Adrien shook his head with a little laugh. "You're our friend. No thanks needed."
no subject
Instead he straightens up, "Actually, the help would be great." He looks to Adrien, "between work and training with Dust, I'm usually wiped at the end of the day." He smiles back to Suzaku, "Suzaku could probably help me get into shape, and there's always plenty of work to be done at both the shrines."
Shin usually fed the stray (and not-so-stray) cats that called Adrien's shrine home - or vacation home - on the way to his work. But with so many cats about it was always furry inside the shrine and needed a lot of vacuuming, and Shin was often the one to clear out the feathery presents the cats would bring from time to time. That was a job he wouldn't mind sharing.
More importantly, Shin was already picking up that Suzaku didn't want to be a burden. If he could give him a reason to stick around, it would probably also put Adrien at ease knowing that Suzaku was somewhere safe. "And I bet Adrien wouldn't mind a spare set of hands to deal with prayers. Most of them have nothing to do with Ayakashi, so..." he trails off, letting Suzaku fill in the blanks that it's up to him if he wanted a name or not.

He looked over at Shin. "If you need training I am happy to help you, you could have asked me regardless." He's not sure if he would make a good teacher but he would definitely try.
"I can assist with anything that is needed." It was the least he could do to repay their kindness. He nodded, an agreement. He would stay, at least until Marinette woke up.

"Dust has been trying to train him but he's a bit intense for Shin's liking. So maybe you two would work together a bit better?" As much as he wants Shin to improve and learn to fight for both his protection and Shin's he understands that Shin keeps strange hours which might make things difficult.
A relieved smile settled on Adrien's lips. "That would be fantastic." He's touching his shoulder gently before motioning toward the door of his room. "Since you've been sleeping so long we should get you something to eat so you can recover and regain so energy."
no subject
He looks over his shoulder, "So, Suzaku, what do you like for breakfast. We have a bit of mostly everything, and you probably already know that Adrien's a deceptively good cook."
no subject
"But I will be happy to work with you as well. You will improve quicker with more trainers."
He gave Kotetsu one last pet, the kitten nibbled his finger before curling back up. He followed Shin and Adrien out of the room. "I eat anything, I don't have any preferences." He smiled at them.
"I would not say it is deceptively good, Adrien is very talented."
no subject
Adrien chuckled. "To be fair, I burned water at first. I just had a very good very fun teacher. It made it nice to learn - having such a good time made me eager to take lessons. It didn't hurt that my teacher was pretty cute either."
He gave a little hum gathering up Quinn up onto his shoulders; Plagg is coming to perch in his hair. "I try my best. There are still some things I can't do. But I've devoted myself to learning to do things well, it's kind of ingrained in me to be like that." Adrien is following Shin into the kitchen. "So what'll it be this morning?"
