Who: Elfnein & Romeo
What: A followers dog has ran away from home! Elfnein and Romeo go pet hunting!
Where: The Near Shore, somewhere in Tokyo.

One of Romeo's jobs in the temple was to collect the prayer slips each day from the shrines so Elfnein knew who she needed to help! Most of the prayers were about learning and knowledge because Gegute was a god all about learning things! Sometimes Romeo read the prayers with Elfnein, though most of them were still too complicated for him.

This morning though one caught his eye, because it had a drawing on it. A drawing of a dog and a little girl with a crying face. He opened it up and saw that the writing looked like it had been written by a child and he could read all the words!

The words were worrying! A dog had ran away from home! His owner was worried because he had been gone a whole week and no one had seen him in all that time. The prayer explained how the dog was her best friend and she missed him so much! She thought he had gotten lost because he loved snuggles and his favourite toy, he normally wouldn't stay outside for long! She was worried that bigger dogs might have attacked him, that he could be hurt.

He used the shrine to travel back to Elfnein's temple and burst in through the doors. "Elfnein? Elfnein! We got a prayer and a little girls dog has gone missing and she's really worried! We've got to help her!"

"A missing dog?"

Elfnein didn't really know much about dogs outside of the basics so tracking one down might be a difficult but she can't just say no to someone asking for help.

"Is there any other information besides the dog is missing?"

"Yes!" Romeo sat down so he could spread the piece of paper out and read through it slowly, his finger tracking the line until he found the bit he was looking for.

"Here! It says he is brown and white dog and is an Akita breed." He didn't know what that meant.

He read a bit further, "He has a name too!" The name Kaito was written as a kanji and it was not one of the ones Romeo knew so he turned it round for Elfnein to read. There was also an address.

"Kaito, that's a nice name for a dog."

Elfnein made a mental note of the name, the other issue was the breed, she had no idea what it even looked like. It would need a bit more research before they head out.

"Do you know what that breed of dog looks like Romeo? I'm not really familiar with dogs."

"Kaito is a nice name!" He grinned but then shook his head. "What's a breed of dog?"

He had no idea what that meant at all! "Will one of the books in the library tell us?"

"The breed of dog is the type it is, like a husky or a golden retriever."

Those were the only dogs Elfnein could think of off the top of her head, they'd have to find a book in the reference section under animals.

"Oh!" There were different types of dogs! That had been something Romeo hadn't known. But to the library!

He led the way, he knew the library well by now as he spent a lot of time there exploring or helping Elfnein out with organising it and finding books that people needed.

"We need the animal bit right! It's over here!"

"Correct, under animals in the pet section."

Elfnein was really proud of how much Romeo has learned about the library in such a short amount of time. It would take anyone a long time to learn where everything was or what sections had high traffic but Romeo has managed in only a few months.

Romeo loved learning and exploring so the library was perfect for his curiosity and sense of adventure. He led the way confidently to the pet section. It had been a lot of work for them to put the library back to rights after the volcano but Romeo was proud at their hard work. Everything was back where it was supposed to be!

"Here we are! Pets, so now we just got to find a book that tells us about dogs!"

"I can go grab a stepping stool so we can split up and search."

One person on the top shelves and another on the bottom, they'd be able to cover all the ground without any issues then.

"That's a really smart plan!" That's why they made a good team! Romeo began searching the bottom shelves and up to as high as he could reach whilst Elfnein went to grab the stool, there should be one close by. In this library ran by a tiny god and her tinier shinki step stools were a necessity.

Romeo's reading was coming along, even if he still didn't know many kanji. He does know the kanji for dog though! So that is helpful! He pulls out any books that might be helpful and begins making a pile.

The step stools were in almost every isle, being small has it's issues but Elfnein has made sure to try and counteract that when it comes to work.

Elfnein pulled three or four books and stepped back down.

"How are you doing Romeo?"

"I found lots of books about dogs so far!"

He's not sure if any of them explain the different types though, he goes over to the pile to start looking through them. "What have you found?"

"I grabbed a few books on small and large dogs, it should help narrow things down."

"Okay!" He sat down on the floor and spread his books out around him. "So we are looking for what an Akita dog looks like..."

He started leafing through his books.

Akita, Elfnein started flipping through tables of contents and scanned across the books lined up for that keyword.

"I think I found it!"

Elfnein saw the name in a book that was set up in the middle of the row and pointed to it.

"You did?" Romeo scrambled over to where Elfnein was to peer over the book. The list of contents had a lot of words but following her finger he could see the word, same as on the letter. "So we got to go to that page!"

"Correct, flip to that page and the information will be there."

Elfnein is going to let Romeo flip the page, it's good for Romeo to learn how to use table of contents.

"Okay!" He used his finger to follow the line to find the page number and then began turning pages, his face a picture of concentration as he read the numbers one by one. Finally he got to the page they needed.

"Here we are! See it has a picture!"

"Alright, let's mark the page so we can go back to it later."

Now that they know what to look for the pet search can finally take off.

"I'll bring the book along with us so we can use it as a guide."

"Okay!" He grabbed a bookmark from one of the nearby shelves to put in the page so they didn't have to look it up again.

"Let's go find Kaito!"

He jumps to his feet, handing the book over with a grin. It was time to go help someone!

"Let's find him quickly!"

Elfnein takes the book, now that they have all the information the search won't take long at all.

Romeo skips to the door and quickly bundles up in his coat and hat before they leave! They don't actually need to go outside here though, they need to go to Elfnein's shrine on the Near Shore.

"Ready! Are we going to your shrine or did they put a house on the prayer?"

Romeo can teleport on his own between the temple and the shrine but if they want to go more specific he will have to hold Elfnein's hand.

"There is an address listed but I think starting at the shrine is the best thing to do!"

Elfnein has a coat and hat set as well and puts that on, always good to bring it just in case given the cold weather.

"Okay! Let's go then!"

Teleporting to the shrine was easy and soon they were in a different place altogether! It was quite cold now on the Near Shore, though there wasn't any snow in this area.

"Maybe we should get dog treats so we can shake them like when Carol was scared after the Earthquake!"

"I'm afraid of it attracting more then one animal if we do that, we'll run out of treats if we feed every dog that would show up with that."

There had to be another way to get the dog's attention or at the least a way to get the dog to search them out.

"Ah, did the owner give us any of the dog's belongings? I read that if you leave an item out with food that they will return."
