Shen Wei stood in the meeting room looking a lot like a lost scholar on his way to the library - tailored blue suit, fussy round glasses sliding down his nose, and eyes open wide as he took in his surroundings. He continued to look confused with the beginnings of a frown pulling his eyebrows down as the lecture droned on and on. By the end of it - which he somehow manages to actually last through without falling asleep or having his attention wander to something more interesting - that frown had taken over his whole being, making him stand straighter than normal and push his glasses up his nose with all the care of someone loading a barrage of cannons at an enemy's ship.
"Are they really sure about that? Do they have any case studies we can look at or at least properly researched papers? I am not going to just agree with what they say without some form of support."
Please let him stand over here and have his moment of not liking this form of afterlife. He wasn't ready to address the huge elephant in the room that was his plan coming to fruition, or the fact that he remembered seeing a certain scruffy asshole in the cosmic nothingness of the Guardian Lantern before waking up at the lecture. Shen Wei was not ready at all.
Training Somebody led the college professor into the training grounds, handed him a long pole and left. Shen Wei adjusted his glasses on his face and leaned a little on the long pole he held, eyes crinkling in amusement as he smiled at the person opposite of him.
"I'm truly sorry about this. Do you want to admit defeat now? It will save you from some bruising."
Snack and Crafts He had made himself a small pot of pleasant tea that reminded him of his home - not the place in Haixing where he spent a lot of time and energy, but underground, in the silent halls of Dixing where the shadows twisted and turned and he remembered the old ways. It steamed next to him on a small iron pan-holder, a cup of fine pottery filled with the honey colored tea next to his elbow. He took a sip, watching the people around him with a small smile before shaking his head, and pushing aside the memories. A new world, a new life, and new ways to learn. He could do that even if there will always be a piece missing.
The thought skimmed away as he picked up his brush and carefully gathered ink on the tip. Then with precise movements, he draw, lines forming a figure, water to add smudges and ink changed for touches of color. Soon a figure emerged from his efforts, rough and a little smudged from the quality of the inks, but still recognizable. Shen Wei stopped, set his brush down and sighed softly.
"Mm, not my best."
