You helped save the world? Congratulations, Zhu Hong, you are now a goddess.
It seems too ridiculous to be true, but everything that she's seen in the last hour or two confirms it. This is Heaven, Dragon City is...who the hell knows where, and she is now the goddess Nüwa.
A week ago, this would have been funny. Hell, two days ago with evil Dixingren bent on the destruction of humanity causing havoc in the streets, it might even have gotten a bitterly ironic chuckle. But now it she almost feels too numb to care. Yes, she helped save the world.
The cost was too high.
Her little crash course in life as a brand new incarnation of a goddess had mentioned something about teleportation, but Hong doesn't trust herself enough to try it yet. Plus, she wants to clear her head a bit, get the lay of the land. Walking is good for that. She has a map to what her white robed guide called her temple, and a few hours to kill.
Might as well do a bit of sight seeing.
"I guess it's spring here," she muses out loud, looking up at the cherry blossoms overhead. "This is too much..."
Rest and Refreshments
The empty bottle of plum wine rolls off the table with a clunk, but Zhu Hong doesn't seem to notice or care. She's doggedly working her way through a second large bottle, with a third standing at the ready nearby. She figures that this is the closest she'll get to a wake for the only man she's ever loved, and she's damn well going to do the thing properly. He died to save everyone. She's stuck here in Heaven instead of at SID headquarters with those of her friends who survived the fight, but she'll honor his sacrifice wherever she is.
(Also, she's a goddess now and everything is intensely strange. That is another reason to do some heavy drinking.)
Hong downs another glass and wishes, not for the first time tonight, that it was something stronger. "That idiot," she murmurs as she pours one more. A tear rolls down her cheek and leaves a mascara track in its wake.
