At least he can take a shot at it, and his familiarity with the general scene will probably make it a bit easier for him, since it's something he can do small talk of some sort about.

"We should at least be able to establish whether it's just people or ayakashi are involved."

That would change how they'd need to handle it significantly, though trying to take out an ayakashi in the middle of a small, open shop like this would definitely complicate things a bit.
