People can find the most peculiar things entertaining. Iskandar had a hard time understanding why someone would want to be thrown down in a chair from a great height. Much less pay for it.
Yet it took only one try to convince him. All those things only look dangerous. In fact, it's all thrill of a real risk without any actual danger. The breaks kick in, the safety measures start working long before anything even mildly disconcerting could happen.
That's what it is, a fake experience for people too afraid to take real risks. That is extremely weird to him. Not the rides themselves.

Iskandar observes the line. The day is hot and most of the parents are tired and irritated. So are the kids. But Iskandar is not fooled. It's not only the weather and the long wait.

He spots a woman with three children. Two older boys and a girl. The boys are watching their sister with utter disgust as she flails her arms screaming "I don't wanna go! I don't wanna go! The crows are scary!" ignoring all of her mother's efforts to appease her. There can be no doubt what kind of the demon birds she refers to. Every time, the ayakashi birds make a sound the girl shivers and just wails louder.

Did they just find themselves an unexpected ally?
