[ Well, it's time for Naminé to do some exploring, so she's traveling around to different shrines. She doesn't really enter unless she has explicit permission; instead, Naminé has a sketchbook and pencil in hand. She's... drawing what she sees? It's mostly for practice, and Naminé doesn't think she's that great, but that's what practice is for!

She's pretty into it, but she'll talk to anyone who approaches her. ]

[ Her good day couldn't last very long, could it? Definitely not. She's absolutely just minding her business, and her attention's a little off right now, since she's reading a book... but she does look up just several moments before she bumps right into--

This can only go well. ]

O-oh! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-- are you okay?

[ C: Last half of April ]

[ April hasn't been a terrible month! Naminé has decided to go out and explore the different businesses--specifically, an ice cream shop, a book store, an art store--she's just browsing, mostly, except in the ice cream shop. Maybe someone sees a book in her hand that they recognize; maybe they're curious about the way she's scrutinizing the art supplies; or maybe they find her looking at the different ice cream flavors and deciding what to get....

Or maybe she's somewhere else? There are a lot of places here, after all! ]

[He's trying to be discreet, with his (bright purple, stripey, adorable cat-eared) hoodie pulled up over his head to hide the suspicious eyepatch covering the left side of his face. No one really notices him anyway, so all he has to do is blend in with the Near Shore people.

... Except he keeps bumping into things. Which, normally, is only a momentary annoyance, but this time the person actually responds to his presence instead of moving on like nothing happened. He stares at her for a second before it clicks. Ah, it's that leaf-eating girl.

Add scowls and then quickly brings a hand up to his face to cover the eyepatch.]

If you're so damn sorry about it, then maybe you should watch where you're going instead of burying your nose in a book! What are you, stupid?

[chainbroke]

[ Oh, it's the guy who wanted her to eat a leaf. Except he seems a lot more hostile now? Somehow. Naminé's face falls, and she shuffles in place. ]

I really didn't mean-- [ what does she do ] --you're right. I'm really, really sorry.

[ just apologize a bunch it'll be fine ]

[He sighs heavily, looking away from her for a moment to (discreetly!!) check if anyone else is watching them. It doesn't look like there's anyone else from the Far Shore around right now...

And as far as he's aware, she has no relation to anyone who knows him. So maybe this is a good opportunity.]

Hmph. Fine. If you're really sorry, then you'll have to make it up to me.

Make it up to you--?

[ ... That kind of doesn't sound good, but he seems really irritated. It can't be too bad, can it--? Whatever he's got in mind, if anything. ]

[It's not uncommon for Kaneki to frequent the local bookstores. Even though he's only recently picked up a normal job (employing Shun's technique of grabbing attention, of course) and doesn't have a paycheck yet, he can at least take a look around. He easily becomes engrossed in scanning the shelves, looking for familiar authors and titles since his books didn't make the trip to godhood with him.

And he's absorbed enough in this that he bumps right into someone without intention, a startled yelp catching in his throat when he realizes-

He just bumped into a girl. A cute girl, no less. Somehow that's just all the more embarrassing, being graceless like that when there's a cute girl who likes books... But then he remembers the last such girl he met like that, and it helps him recover some]

Sorry- are you okay?

[ Naminé's nearly surprised as he is, probably; she'd been so absorbed in the books on the shelves and finding something that she... hadn't really paid attention. It's becoming kind of a bad habit, she realizes, but she's a touch too flustered to dwell on that for long. ]

I'm fine-- I'm so sorry, I should have been watching... Are you okay?

Yes, I'm fine- you're sure you're alright?

[He's the one who bumped into her, so clearly he's the one in the wrong here. At least, that's what Kaneki thinks. This girl was standing there minding her own business before he came along]

[ He's really worried about her? And he's just met her. It's strange, how genuinely kind some people are here. ]

Yes, I'm just fine. You didn't bump into me that hard at all.

Ah, that's a relief...

[And he really is relieved that she's okay, as much is plain on his face]

I guess I got a little absorbed, looking at books.

[ Well, at least he doesn't feel absolutely terrible! That seems to relax her, too, and it's visible on her face. ]

It's okay. I don't think I can blame you... there are so many here.

They do have a really impressive selection.

[And that prompts him to glance toward the shelf beside her]

Were you looking for anything in particular?

[ She shakes her head. The shelf she's browsing is fantasy, for the record. ]

No... I'm just looking for whatever catches my eye.

Sometimes, that's a good way to be surprised by a new author.

[Kaneki of course had his father's collection of books to browse through as a child. Each of those was a new discovery, at that time.

Now that he knows more and has seen more...well, the literary world is vast]

[ She, on the other hand, has never seen so many books in one place. ]

I'm not sure what to pick... Do you have any recommendations? [ Since he seems to be the bookish type. ]

I think I could make a few.

[He sure is the bookish type, and he could launch off into a whole long tangent about so many good books, almost looks ready to — but he pauses]

What kinds of stories interest you most?

[She's looking at fantasy...hm...]

Well... [ Hmm. Maybe she should've thought about this beforehand. ] I think these sorts of stories are interesting-- [ gesturing to the fantasy books ] --from what little I've read from the covers... But I think I'd like to try anything.

Well, if it's fantasy... You could start with a title by C.S. Lewis.

[Kaneki turns his attention fully to the shelves, scanning until he spots The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It's a bit high overhead, and he has to stretch and fumble for it, but he manages to pull the book free and offer it to her]

This one is pretty well-known, and it can be a good place to start.

[ She takes it from him and looks it over. Wow... ]

I'll read it, then. It sounds fascinating!

[He may not be a fantasy guy himself, but he does appreciate the author. Given a few more moments he'll move along the shelves and come up with another book to show her.

[Travelling by shrine is becoming a little more familiar to Shun after his first week, even if it's still an odd concept to him, and he's just brushing himself off when he hears something scratching from outside. It's very faint, and to him it sounds like a pencil, but as suspicious as he is in general, his first assumption is that it's something worse than it sounds.

Striding out, he catches sight of the girl drawing outside, and though he can tell what she's doing, he doesn't know why anyone would be drawing "his" shrine off-hand like this.]

What the hell are you doing here? [His tone is brusque, but not quite accusatory, though his eyes are narrowed in a none-too-friendly way.]

[ A whole series! That'll keep her busy for a while, at least. She's already eyeing the rest of the books, but... money is a thing. Right.

Naminé looks over it, her eyes sort of lighting up. ]

I like the description on the back already.

[ She's so absorbed in her drawing that she actually jumps--and there's a line going from one corner of the page to about the middle. She supposes it is her fault for looking suspicious, but she really hadn't meant anything bad. Naminé gives him a nervous smile. ]

Um... I'm sorry. It's just-- your temple is so unlike anything I've ever seen, I wanted to draw it. [ She pauses, looking unsure. ] I'm sorry. I can leave, if you'd like.

[Zoro had been training outside of Euterpe's temple, just by the nice tree she has there, when he noticed someone walking outside. He recognizes her immediately, and without caring to put on a shirt, he jogs up to her.]

Naminé!

[And there he is, a tall mass of shirtless, sweaty, muscle, happily smiling at the girl in front of him.]

It's been a while, how are you?

[ Well. That's nothing she'd actually expected, and Naminé has to avert her eyes because hello bare chest. ]

Um! I'm doing well. What-- about you, Zoro?

[At least he's wearing pants, which is something, right?]

Not bad, gotten pretty used to living with Sheryl, she's quite nice. And funny.

[He chuckles, thinking of his goddess. He looks at Naminé and what she has in her hands and raises an eyebrow.]
