Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

[Ekko is well... he's not really interested in doing something like this, but hell, maybe he'll find something useful in these things. There's an unfamiliar device strapped to his back and there's a turquoise hologram of himself following him at a slight delay.

It doesn't seem to bother him, but it is a bit strange.]

Surprises

[There's boxes and boxes of junk in the main hall. He's pretty sure like a good eighty percent of these dumb boxes are junk. But eventually he touches what looks like an ordinary pot and hisses at the sudden sting of blight.]

[You know, she's super curious. It's either got to be magic or advanced technology and she's all there for either of the options. She watches a moment, trying to puzzle it out herself, before approaching to ask.]

Main Hall
[Mai is working hard, doing her part and cleaning all the things that are required of her but there was this one closet that she was allocated to which contained a stash of magazines she was unsure of. They were wrapped in brown paper and she was a little afraid to look inside.

She's just pulling out pile after pile, some tied up with string and setting them outside the closet for now while she cleans inside. Someone will come along and help her with this pile upon pile of material, surely.]

[It was always about the food wasn't it? Mai wasn't going to complain. She's got a wide grin as she's going through the cakes that were on display before going back to the savoury food.

This was a very familiar sight. She was like this at the last banquet as well but she's a lot more settled now she's herer for her second one.

And hey, she's worked hard. She was going to enjoy herself just as much.]

[There's no time like the present for testing Mai's situational awareness! So Kurama relaxes his control a little, letting his energy rise to a level that doesn't require much spiritual awareness to detect, and silently creeps up to stand in Mai's blind spot while she pulls more stacks of illicit-looking magazines out of the closet.]

[ Wow okay, she did not expect to be suddenly in another world BUT THAT'S OKAY, something like this isn't going to get her down. In fact, she's excited as ever, bubbling over this and that, those temples over there, and that mansion right here, and--- oh, there's cleaning to be done? WELL SAY NO MORE. Sanae can always be found with a broom in hand-- those tricky youkai and harvest gods she used to greet back at home always found a way to trail in dust and leaves wherever they came to the shrine. She's used to cleaning up the gods' shit. It's like her job. ]

A: CLEANING UP SAID SHIT IN THE MAIN HALL/SOME TEMPLE AND/OR CLOSET:
A-1: [ She's carrying about ten boxed piled high in her arms, which teeter precariously with every step. But you know what, no one likes taking more than one trip, and that includes her! She's not lazy, shhhh, she just likes Getting Things Done.

But she will be bumping into you, whoops. There goes the boxes. What is in them? THAT IS UP TO YOU. Maybe it's tar and feather. Maybe it's puppies. Maybe it's spiders. Maybe it's weird green ooze. Maybe it's a cursed artifact that makes your thoughts appear above your head. Maybe it's some moldly oldy god's collection of ~exotic~ novels. The possibilities are as endless as the heavens! But whatever it is, it's going to to be tumbling down on the both of them (unless, of course, this accident is prevented by your character). ]

A-2: [ Happy cleaning day, everyone! If you happen to be near her, Sanae is the sociable type, and she'll gladly strike up the conversation while sweeping: ] ...Phew, this's a pretty messy place! I would've thought that they'd keep the celestial plane a bit more spotless! It's--

[ HOLD. THE FUCK UP.

Is that a SPIDER WEB. On the WALL? Right over your shoulder, too. Oh hell naw, it's not going to be there anymore because Sanae will be striking at it with the broom with all the force of a raging windstorm. ]

A-3: [ Somehow she broke her broom. Multiple brooms. There is a pile of brooms being collected next to her, and she's currently putting another one on the top. She claps her hands, getting rid of extra dust before nodding to herself confidently. ] ...There. All done~!

[ SO HELPFUL. Only not, because half of her cleaning was picking up the broken pieces of broomsticks she had broken while trying to nab every speck of dust/spiderweb/mouse that scurried by. She places a finger to her chin, pursing her lips thoughtfully. ] Hmmm, but we shouldn't be wasteful, no? Maybe we should have a bonfire!

A-4: [ There is now a bonfire of broken broom sticks. She found some bad things in some dusty closet and is now burning them, too. ]


B: PASSING OUT MOCHI IN THE COMPLIMENTARY DINNER
[ Look at all of this food. How is it still on the table, this will not do. It needs to be eaten and not go to waste! So while you're minding your business or just chillin' in your home, oh look, it's a shrine maiden-- wait why is someone dressed as a shrine maiden among all the gods. Okay, maybe that's not the important question for you because do you know what this green-haired, yellow-eyed woman has?

SHE HAS MOCHI. And she's handing them out like they're going out of style. Because these deserts aren't going to eat themselves, you know! ] Hello...! My name is Sanae Kochiya, it's a pleasure to meet you! You look famished after all of that hard work, would you like some mochi? Here, take some--

[ Take some, dammit. Don't disappoint her, or the sparkles will disappear! Or maybe do disappoint her, because then those annoying sparkles will disappear. ]

[Sonic's day was spent doing as little work as was possible. He's already the messenger of the gods, he was not about to be their maid too. But skipping out on work doesn't mean he's about to skip out on free food, and- well hellooooooo mochi]

[All this dust... Roxas had decided that before going back home that he should help clean some. The dust was more then he had anticipated, so the blond is coughing and rubbing his eyes. It was everywhere! How were they supposed to clean this without choking to death?

This kid has never had to clean a space this filthy before, even back in Koriko. Roxas is ready to throw in the towel when it comes to this room.]

[Surprises!]

[Once the battle with the dust is over, well, maybe there was other place that could use some cleaning. Roxas finds himself in a room with a door that has a rusted lock on it. Curiosity gets the better of him as he grabs it. The shackle cracks in half and falls right onto the floor.]

.... They really need a new one-

[Roxas can't even finish the sentence before something slams into the closed door, making the old wood creak loudly. All he sees is the flash of bright gold eyes before the wood settles again. So Roxas does the only thing he can think of: brace himself against the door as whatever was behind it tried to break it down by slamming into it.

He should have just gone home...]

Main Hall

[Izuku's carrying what seems to be a truck tire when he hears all the coughing that's coming from one of the rooms. And well, part of being a hero is public service so he pokes his head into the room- and immediately starts sneezing.

Dust. Dust everywhere.]

Do- [Sneeze.] Do you need- [Sneeze.] Help? [Sneeze. He can feel his eyes starting to water.]

Various Temples!

[Souma hasn't really grasped what's going on, but the best way for him to handle stress is to overwork himself! So, with the chance of cleaning laid out right before him, he jumps on it easily. It's a great way to keep his hands busy so his mind doesn't have to panic, and so with a newly serious air about him, he ties his apron and adjusts the white bandana he's put on over his hair, grabs a bucket of cleaning supplies and a mop and runs out the doors.

He knows no bounds, so be it old abandoned temples with danger or the very-inhabited temple that your god or shinki may happen to be lounging in right now, Souma bursts in and immediately begins to clean.

On top of his home invader cleaning, he's not exactly quiet.]

Hyah! Kyaaahhh! Take that! [He's defeating dust and smudge and grime alike with such enthusiasm that he hasn't noticed anyone else in the room. Watch out, you might get a mop handle waved a little too close to your face!]

Dinner time!

[Souma's hard work doesn't stop at dinner. There's so much food, but he's managed to find Heaven's kitchen to help out as well! The great news is he's a wonderful cook, so as he tiredly brings out another dish to your character, it's guaranteed to be delicious, so long as they like Japanese cuisine!

He does look a little flushed, though. Is he pushing himself too hard? Probably.]

H-here you are! Please, help yourself! Allow me to clean away these empty dishes cluttering the table...

[As he picks up the stack, he balances and manages them quite well until it all becomes too much and he falls over himself a few feet away, sending dishes flying.] Uwah!

[ What the hell bro, she was cleaning here first?! IS THIS SOME WEIRD GOD/SHINKI RITUAL AND NOW THEY MUST DUEL OVER THE TERRITORY TO CLEAN?!

IS THIS BATTLE ROYALE WITH BLEACH AND WINDEX?!

So many questions, so little time. And now she has a mop in her face. ] E--- excuse me--!? [ She's more baffled than upset though. She doesn't know what just happened. ]

Sanzang/Sanzo Hoshi | Warriors Orochi | OTA!

[A: "Goku, you came to my aid! I'll scratch your back for you later!"]

[Sanzang's been in a lot of strange places over the years and gotten into a lot of strange situations-- this is no different. She just sort of laughs and rolls with it, figuring it can't be all that grim. Surely there's some good to this whole thing, if she looks at it the right way!

Either way, she's apparently in the Heavens again, though definitely a different Heaven from the ones she knew of, and they were asking for help...cleaning?

Sure.

There's a room with an impossibly tall ceiling somewhere off the main hall stacked high with boxes. Taking one from the bottom would be dangerous, right? Because then they might all fall! So Sanzang's climbed a tower of boxes to start from the top and work her way down. Clearly this is the least dangerous of the options. Clearly.

Until the tower of boxes (filled with various stuffed animals and candy for some reason?) begins to wobble. Sanzang freezes, hoping this might steady the tower, but alas, o course it doesn't.]

G-- Goku! Help! [Unfortunately the Monkey King she knows isn't here, but she yelps for him anyway, semi-hoping he might pop into existence by sheer force of her will alone.

The box tilts and sends Sanzang tumbling towards the ground with a short scream]

[B: "Everybody! Allow me to lend you my strength!"]

[If your character looks like they might be taking a break or getting overwhelmed, there's your friendly neighborhood goddess of mercy coming to their aid!]

Hey, hey! Don't give up yet! Are you alright? Here, I'll help! What do you need me to do? [Her hands are hidden within long watersleeves and she doesn't look at all practically dressed for this, but whatever! She's eager to help!]

[C: "Ahaha! This is a fabulous party! And it's going to be even better once I start dancing!"]

[Parties! Who didn't love parties? It might not be a banquet by the gods' standards, but it's about as good as what she was getting with the coalition when they were fighting Orochi and all.

Sanzang sits and laughs easily, hands (and watersleeves) folded in her lap. She doesn't appear to be eating or drinking anything, just watching everyone else with a cheery air. She's just happy to be here, folks.]

Everyone must be so tired... [The truth is she's totally exhausted too, but she quickly squares her shoulders to hide it and smiles brightly.] I know what'll fix that!

[There's music playing from--somewhere? Some shinki playing instruments to help set the mood? Who knows. Either way Sanzang's quick to approach and request something and start up a dance. Despite how tired she is, her movements are energetic, but controlled and the giddy smile never leaves her face.

Anyone nearby and anyone watching will almost immediately begin to feel the effects of her dancing, their aches disappearing and strength returning, maybe feeling more relaxed or better than they have in a while. It's a mix of her natural abilities to heal and strengthen through her dancing and her empathic healing.

When the music ends she bows low and tries not to stumble back to her seat or show how drained that made her. It doesn't help her ability makes her take away the pain of any wounds others might have gained during this little cleaning venture onto herself.] Ahaha, how fun...! I hope that helped!

[D: "Lately, I haven't been summoned to battle... I think I feel kind of lonely... Goku..."]

Sanzang can be found just about anywhere, either cheering on others cleaning up, jumping in to assist anyone else at a moment's notice, or dancing to encourage/strengthen people again.

Or you might catch her in a surprisingly pensive moment standing in a quieter room or hall, just staring intently into space with a frown on her face.

Or maybe, if you have CR already with one Genjo Sanzo, you might find something oddly familiar about her, like when you catch something out of the corner of your eye and your brain tricks you into thinking it's someone else or someone similar.

[ She's taking a break because she's broken one too many brooms trying to smash dust mites/chase away mice/break impenetrable spider webs. They are all in haphazard pile before her. ] Oh, me...? I'm just trying to gather up all of this... [ Totally not her fault, shutup. ] A bonfire sounds kind of nice right now, doesn't it--?

[ Wait. She does a double take at the lady, because it's a very pretty lady in very expensive looking silk. The hell is she doing cleaning with that on?? SHE MUST BE SOMEONE IMPORTANT. ] Er.... Um. Oh, no, I'm fine doing this by myself, really!

Main Hall

[Izuku's a pretty small guy, 5'5" at best, and in his hoodie he looks pretty scrawny. He only looks that way, because as he works he's pulling junk like giant tires out of the closets and not even breaking a sweat. It's a little distressing they even managed to fit some of this stuff into the hall, but he has no issue moving it.

If you're struggling with your own pile of junk, he'll approach.]

[So his own temple is fairly large and he's only really been using two of the apartments in the complex. It's a four story apartment complex and he's been loaning out the rooms to whoever's been having trouble getting into their temples. It seems to be a more common thing than he would have expected.

He opens up one of the many unused rooms and is immediately greeted with what looks like an armory.]

Aidos isn't a god of war. Or combat... Do you think these belonged to somebody else?

[ She doesn't know who Aidos is, but whatever! She'll roll with it. ] Maybe he was a collector...?

[ She wonders aloud in response, looking at all of the armor. She pauses to think for a moment. A collector, yes. But what else?

Oh-- she's got it: ] Or... maybe he was into cosplay! [ Brilliant. ]

Hiyoko | Main Hall/surprises

[Hiyoko has no problems pitching in to help with spring cleaning. Honestly it's just like cleaning duty at school. As long as everybirdie pitches in and gives it their all, they'll be done in no time. She is brandishing a broom as though it were a spear and has several dust rags in her pockets.]

This hunting goddess just declared open season on dustbunnies! Let's do this!

[She enters a nearby room and the sounds that follow are... interesting. It almost sounds like she's fighting? Or maybe just wrecking the place. Or hitting the walls with her broom for some reason? Do you go inside?]

A- Yeah, sure. Let's see what's in there.

[What's in there is Hiyoko chasing after several dark shapes. They seem to be leaving little sooty footprints where ever they go, so cleaning will bedifficult before they're rounded up. When the door opens, two of them make a break for it.]

Don't let them escape!!

B- Hell no. There is no way I'm following crazy cave girl anywhere.

[After about ten minutes, she comes back out looking a little worse for wear, yet with a triumphant smile. And she's holding a brown cloth bag. That's... wiggling. And then she spots you.]

Hey! Perfect timing! I need to finish up in there so could you take these to the trash?

Hell no...

[Axel's just going to be putting his hands safely behind his back so you can't shove that thing in his direction. It looks way too ominous, if you ask him....]

Okita Souji | Main Hall / Surprises

[Souji is still slightly disoriented still, having only just been called to serve his God and given his new name. He keeps occasionally rubbing the 梅 affixed on his left palm, smiling a thoroughly distracted little smile. Honestly, it might not be a good idea to have him assigned to cleaning just yet, he seems a bit overwhelmed, but it's his very first task as a Shinki after all! He's determined to do his best.

"Doing his best" in this state apparently involves trying to dislodge a crate full of junk from on top of a wardrobe and accidentally tipping it over, showering him in the contents. Ah...

Mainly pottery, shattering in a million pieces around him, including several jars of honey and one wine amphora creating a sticky mess around his feet. Souji meanwhile is rubbing at a red mark right above one eyebrow, wincing.]

[You hear that sound? It's somewhere between twittering and bleating, and it comes from the corridor forking off to the left up ahead. How about taking a look?

Anyone who does will find Souji, having opened one door only to have a FLOOD OF COLORFUL DUCKLINGS pour out from inside the room.]

[He still hasn't closed the door, and the continuing flood has in fact wedged it open. Souji does make an attempt to in fact stem the flow, but he doesn't want to crush any ducklings by accident. So after a moment or two he just picks one up in his hands, scratching its fluffy down and giggling. He appears to have been sufficiently distracted to not care about the continuing duckling invasion anymore?]

[Well, after having made a few messes, wandered into places he shouldn't have, and potentially broken the Seventh Duck Seal, what is a man supposed to do?

That's right. Take a nap.

He's just curled up on a padded bench somewhere, skinny limbs twisted in a bit of an awkward position so that he won't fall off, all that black hair spilling out around him. Look, it's been a really exciting and overwhelming day? Let a poor shinki sleep...

[The past few days have been awful.

It's a wonder Yamato's here at all, honestly. He's been withdrawn and nigh-unresponsive since the morning Ayumu came back, fetching from a temple that currently sits unused. It's not so much that he's obeying Ayumu, it's just that he's lost the will to resist--and a part of him feels guilty for worrying her, beneath all the despair and loneliness.

So while the ninja goddess is occupied attacking a particularly dusty spot, Yamato musters up the energy to wander off, thinking to do something helpful. Shepard wouldn't want him to mope. Shepard would want him to be good until she got back. Shepard would...]

[How Hazel has gotten here, why he has to stay, and where Gat went - all the most important questions - are apparently not questions he'll be having answered to satisfaction anytime soon. But cleaning? They want him to clean up?

This is ridiculous. He's holding a feather duster like he's never seen something less appealing in his life, and oddly enough, standing on top of a table, or chair, or whatever other furniture will give him a little more reach. He's short, you see. He's a short man, and even standing on the furniture, he still can't quite reach whatever high shelf or ceiling fan or whatever he's supposed to be dusting.

He could also not be trying, but whatever. He's disinterestedly waving a feather duster at something high up, good enough.]

Like I said, it ain't gonna be any better from up here.

[A beat. Where is the heavenly busybody he'd just been talking to? Who are you, the sudden interloper??]

That young gentleman hangs around like a junebug at a porch light festival for this long and then he goes and vanishes? Bit unkind.

[Given that Hazel is a brand new god here, his temple is brand new as well. By some fluke, with everyone so focused on cleaning up the other Heavenly areas, there is one problem with the temple: The big, ornate piano that's supposed to be in one of the rooms isn't there.

This wouldn't be obvious, if not for the fact that it's currently hovering around the second story. It's sitting on a level surface, very clearly harnessed to a crane... but the crane is missing. The suspension rope extends straight up into the air a couple yards, then disappears into nothingness.

Do the Heavens think this is a goddamn game??? Hazel is just staring at it from the yard.]

I reckon pushin' it won't do any good.

[ There's someone yelling at you from a distance in the great hall. What is she saying. Who knows. Maybe she'll pass. Maybe he'll have a nice, quite peaceful day without any trouble dusting that high candle holder.

This green haired woman is running-- no, flying-- up to him, and awww, look how nice she is, stopping by to warn him (and simultaneously have a cloud of dust emerge from the room she popped out of). ] We-- we gotta run! [ She says, breathless. ] They're-- they're coming! [ What's coming. ] The... dust bunnies!

I. Old Haunts
[Given the task of cleaning up a particularly old temple in a mountainous stretch of the far shore, Slaine doesn't think very much of it. As with any assignment he's issued, his first concern is that he represent his god well and complete the work to the best of his ability, and so he embarks with supplies in-hand.

His first impression upon entering the temple is that it looks quite abandoned. Cobwebs and dust festoon surfaces and corners, old decorative urns and paintings showing the faded yellow mark of old age. He squints in the poor lighting, wondering where it is he ought to start as he makes his way along.

But soon thereafter he comes to a halt, casting a speculative glance toward an old urn. Was that always there...? He tries to shrug it off, only to hear a faint shuffling...and there's the same urn on the floor beside him.

A long silence follows in which he engages in what can only be the most one-sided staring-contest with an inanimate object, at least until the urn's lid begins to shudder and at last move in a strange pantomime of a laugh, the sound resonating from all directions and not quite from the object itself.

Forgive him an undignified yelp, he's never had an urn for an admirer before]

II. Good Spirits
[Slaine has made a stubborn endeavor to clean the temple, forcibly correcting any pottery that chooses to crowd at his elbows. It's at least fortunate that he's managed to avoid knocking anything over at this juncture, but his progress is incredibly slow, concerted though his efforts remain.

Eventually he cleans up the main room of the shrine, and once again he's visited by a companion. This time, however, there's no crockery. It's a cat, and this shouldn't be concerning at all, except that the cat has two tails. The little creature parks itself right beside Slaine much as urns and pots and teacups have insisted upon doing for much of the afternoon.

And so now, he's engaged in a far less one-sided staring contest with something he's sure ought not be there, just the same as the pottery]

III. Crowd Control
[It seems that the more rooms Slaine cleans, the more attention he garners. Slowly and steadily, he's gathered a following. A small pack of two-tailed cats now follow his progress from one room to another, crowding around his ankles and watching him with what seems a vested interest. They never make a sound, but they've effectively replaced the pottery...

Only the more that crowd around him the more pensive concern Slaine feels, plain on his face as he steals occasional glances at this gathering of cats... Well, he's assuming they're still cats, even with two tails like that. It's quite hard to sweep a room with a whole pack of them orbiting him, however, and eventually it becomes a matter he simply has to address]

Excuse me...I'm trying to clean.

[Leveling with them is absolutely going to work, isn't it?]

IV. Fan Following
[When at last the temple is clean, Slaine finds that he still has a gaggle of cats following him when he packs up to leave. This...isn't a development he'd anticipated, but there they are, and he's stationed in the doorway with a pack of what he assumes to be cats with two tails just staring him down]

I have more work to do...

[He tries to advance, and the cats simply remain where they are, which leaves him in the awkward position of either trying to step on them or somehow shoo them away...]

Really, I need to go now.

[This process of trying to gently nudge his way through might be frustrating to watch, particularly since any progress he makes is closely followed by this orbiting feline crowd]

[Sheryl could do as she's told and actually start her cleaning duties. Or she could slack off on them and take selfies of herself instead, the quiet sounds of camera clicks audible from her phone as she poses. What stops her from continuing, however, is seeing a group of cats wander around from the corner of her eye... wait, they have two tails?!

She gasps, lowering her phone to the side in favor of following these strange cats, eventually leading her to a doorway. And Slaine.

Her footsteps stop, mouth agape at the sight of these cats before she darts a glance over to him with a frown.]

Geeze, look at this place. You’d think that the main hall to the Heavens themselves would be spic and span all the time with some weird heaven magic or something.

[Sora wasn’t the biggest fan of cleaning. He liked things to be clean just as much as the next person, but doing the actual chores were...well...a chore. And the main hall was looking in pretty rough shape.

He walks over to a cabinet along the wall full of weird dishes and tea pots and pulls it open. Instantly a wave of dust whooshes out at him and Sora can't hold in a very loud sneeze.]

....Ahh...Ahhh- Aaaahhhchoooo!

[The sneeze triggers a divine teleport by accident and Sora vanishes only to reappear on the other side of the hall with a loud clatter, knocking over a pile of brooms and mops as he collapses on top of them in a heap.]

...Ow!

[ Eating the Free Food ]

[After cleaning all day, Sora has worked up quite the appetite. He can be found sampling food at the table with a rice ball sticking out of his mouth.

Don’t mind that there’s dirt smudged on his cheeks and cobwebs in his hair. It’s been a long day and he’s sleepy.]

[Sometime during his cleaning, Sonic found a whiteboard. He pocketed it, because why the hell not? It could be useful, and you know what? It looks like he just got the perfect opportunity to use it.]

[Kind of weird that he was brought here, told he was a god and that he couldn't go home and then forced to clean but whatever. He'll take the distraction. Needs it, really. Unfortunately, the clothes he's stuck in aren't really meant for cleaning and while he's managed to scrounge up a pair of sweatpants he has yet to put them on. Because he has yet to figure a way out of his outfit.

Sequestered away in a corner, he can be found moving flaps around and untying strings only to fix them all back into place when nothing changes. It's frustrating. He's been here for what feels like hours (twenty minutes) and no progress is being made! In a fit of desperation, he grabs the sleeve of the first person who passes by.]

You. Are you good with clothes? Help me figure a way out of this!

[That sure was a box of files thrown out of a window just like that sure was a shout just heard. An ayakashi skitters out through the hole as another box is sent crashing through. Keito rushes out of the room after it, red-faced and wheezing as he keeps throwing files at the nimble creature. In between each throw, he shouts:]

I don't— know— what— you— want— from me! [Aaand there goes his last file. Damn. The ayakashi leaps at him. Keito ducks into a crouch at the last second, a poof of flower petals accompanying his yelp.]

What...? [He stares at them, bewildered, before the ayakashi jumps after him again.

Someone help him. Ancient paperwork doesn't make for a very good weapon.]

[ Well. Ch'yaaa, she's good with these types of robes. She was a miko before! And is still in her miko garb. Which he grabs the sleeve of. ] Eh? [ It takes her a moment to understand him and what he wants, and she has to simple stare at him, shocked, because those look expeeeennnnnsive.

What is he doing, wanting to take those off?! IT LOOKS SO PRETTY. ] But-- that sort of thing... it looks really nice on you! [ He wears it well! ] You could probably get away with not cleaning anything if you kept it on. Others would understand that it shouldn't be dirtied!

[This silent protag has a cloth wrapped around his face, rubber gloves on, duster in his back pocket, and a bucket with other supplies. He came prepared when he heard there was cleaning to do! He's picked the first unoccupied room and had started doing his thing. Removing items from shelves to clean them, banishing cobwebs, you name it!

Of course he wouldn't mind help, and is more than happy to help in case his room was done. He'll even lend anyone who needs it some cleaning supplies!]

[Ludger has found an large, fancily decorated pot. Said pot was seemingly normal until he touches it. He's thankful that his hands weren't closer to the rim as a set of teeth sprouted and tried to take them off at the wrist.

Pots aren't supposed to do that.

Since he's not sure if this was a valuable item or not, he's hesitant to destroy it. Instead he's standing in the door frame to ward off anyone who's curious about the very strange clanking noises coming from this room.]

[Seeing Ludger standing there guarding a doorway is...surprising, to say the least. Roxas takes in this sight with the same ponderous silence he does many things, assessing his shinki's choice of activity and listening to the noises drifting from the room. Is he trying to protect other people from something in there?

Deciding that there's nothing for it but to investigate for himself, he marches right up to his shinki and looks up at him]

The long, hooded, leather coat that Saïx had arrived in was quickly discarded in his room. He had no clue why he had arrived in it, let alone in leather pants and boots. Who the hell was he in his old life that he thought this was a good fashion statement? Whatever. He's not wearing the coat, especially not when he has to go help clean. Tomorrow he'd have to figure out some other clothes, but for now he's in his leather pants and a plain black v-neck shirt.

Main Hall
There was dust everywhere. Saïx had seen someone else take a rag and tie it around their face to keep from breathing in the dust, so he did the same before grabbing a bucket of cleaning supplies and finding a room where he could clean without anyone bothering him. Of course, that was proving rather difficult, so he sighed and decided he'd go into the next room regardless of who else was in there.

"Need some help?"

Complimentary Dinner
After all the cleaning, Saïx was famished. There was only one problem. He had no clue what foods he liked. So after cleaning himself up, he headed toward the food and started dishing up his meal. And a little of anything that didn't look or smell repulsive to him went on his plate.

He sat down at a table with two plates full of food and just stared at them. It was more food than he thought he'd be able to eat, but there was a good chance that half of it wouldn't be something he liked. If only he could figure out what to start off with.

After dinner, Saïx decided to take a walk. He hadn't really had much time to look around when he'd arrived earlier before being told to go help clean. So he was wandering around, checking out the other temples (from the outside) and seeing what else this place had to offer.

His temple was fairly new, all things considered, but it had still gotten surprisingly dusty in the last few months.

Then again, when you weren't a servant and your shinki wasn't prone to cleaning up either it was going to happen.

Leo dropped the last box of random junk he had somehow accumulated in the last few months at the entrance to his temple, glancing up just in time to see the strange blue haired man--and get hit with a vision of Sora killing him.

Well. That was new.

Whatever. Leo reached out to get the man's attention. "Excuse me. Are you a shinki?"

Main Hall

[Work is the best stress relief. Between managing her grief, newfound responsibilities, and frustrated attempts at broadening her education, Ayumu's had a lot of stress. Due to this, she's managed to keep her temple immaculate and free of clutter ever since she moved in, even with an adventurous child underfoot.

So with nothing to clean at home, Ayumu pounces on an opportunity to help out in the main hall. She can be found hard at work dragging out furniture and moving things around to clean every nook and cranny she can reach. And as for the parts she can't easily reach, Ayumu can be seen climbing chairs, tables, and shelving units to aggressively dust and scrub at those easily overlooked (or ignored) spots.

She doesn't seem to be immediately aware of anyone who approaches her at first, so intent she is on her work. But be warned, startling her carelessly might lead to more violent consequences than one bargains for.]

[Once Ayumu's done her part to make the main hall spotless, she moves on to the older temples, as industrious as ever. She's been losing herself in mindless drudgery for a while now and when she hasn't been, she's looked tense and troubled by something. Normally, Ayumu would have noticed the sounds of something large slithering around in the room she's opening up to clean but she's being unusually careless today.

As soon as Ayumu flings open the door, there's a loud hiss as an extremely large serpentine head lunges toward her. Reflexively, Ayumu leaps back, raising the broom she's holding up to block its strike while gathering a ball of flame in her free hand.

Feel free to intervene before she sets the temple on fire or gets herself eaten by a giant snake.]

[At the end of the day, Ayumu can be found relaxing at the dinner table. After working so hard, she's managed to work up quite an appetite. She's visibly tired and a bit of a mess but judging from her slight worried frown, it seems like looking presentable for dinner is the least of her concerns right now. Right now, she's more intent on devouring chicken skewers. Feel free to bug her or judge her disheveled appearance.]

[Ludger has an uncanny sense in knowing that nearby someone needs his help. So when he walks into the room-

Guns out, he shoots the snake repeatedly to take its attention off of the woman. Since he's quick on his feet, he slides in front of her, the guns being replaced by two blades with what looks like magic. That reptile would really have to work for its dinner or be turned into dinner itself.]

[Being forced to do someone else's cleaning... Add is really starting to hate this abuse of power the Heavens are showcasing lately. They should be doing their own damn cleaning.

But he also can't stand to see such a terrible mess, so with many a heavy sigh he'll be doing what he can to help out.

Well... kind of. Does it still count as him helping if he's using a machine that belongs to him? Either way, he's found himself a quiet storage room in the back to sort through. There's a slightly bulky pink roomba roaming around, meticulously cleaning up all the dust it can reach and whatever Add sweeps onto the floor. Try not to trip over it. Hovering next to Add is a vibrant purple cube, several items and small boxes of interest stacked neatly ontop of its body. It obediently follows him around as he picks through the room's inventory, occasionally mumbling to himself about something or other.

Notably, he's wearing an eyepatch over his left eye... and also a handkerchief tied over his mouth and nose, because it's dusty.]

[Once all the cleaning is done, Add is happy to just lay down on the first clean-looking sofa he can find and relax. All that work sure was exhausting! Even if he probably didn't do that much...

The floating purple cube is now diligently serving as his loyal drink stand/hologram butler. You might also run into it making trips to refill the glass with grape juice whenever he runs out, which is... probably an interesting sight on its own, since it's a floating cube that can levitate small objects. It's kind of impressive how coordinated it is at pouring drinks.]

[Polish these jars. Those were the only instructions the other shinki had given her, along with a cloth and a spray bottle, before Elise was left alone in one of the old side rooms in the main hall. The problem? The room is full of jars. Some so small they fit in the palm of her hand. Others she could probably fit inside. All painted in a rainbow of colors.]

Wow.... they're all so pretty!

[She wipes some of the dust off the nearest jar.]

I wonder if there's anything inside....

[She opens it and peers in. It's.... big on the inside. Bigger than the outside looks. Neat. She leans forward to see if she can touch the bottom. She can't. ]

It's like it goes on forever.... Hey! An echo!

[There is indeed an echo. But honestly someone grab her before she falls in to bottomless jar please.]

[No sooner than she touches this jar, it rattles and she jumps back.]

Whoa!

[The jar goes still. After a moment, she reaches out a tentative finger to poke it again. *Rattlerattle*]

Y- you better not be one of those.... monster things.

[What were they even called? Aka... Aya... something. Either way the jar doesn't respond. Until she pokes it again. Then it rattles loudly and the lid begins to wobble as if something inside was trying to escape.... ]

[This jar is not nearly so fantastic. Elise opens it curiously, then reaches her hand in.]

What's this stuff?

['This stuff' is a sparkly pink powder. Could it be magical? Some sort of chemical? A spice perhaps? Or maybe it's just glitter. It's pretty, at least.]

Jar 4- Wildcard! Pick something and I'll roll with it. Things unrelated to jars are also fine. Maybe she was sent to help clean your temple. Maybe you were sent to help her. Maybe they're both slacking off. It's all good!

King isn't very pleased. He never asked to be taken and made a "god", and then as soon as he's given all the overwhelming information about it and pushed out to the world he's expected to clean.

Boy, if he had any more of a backbone he would just not clean! But he doesn't, so he can be found doing some of the bare minimal of chores, like dusting places that are harder for smaller folks to reach, or dusting desks or delicate things like pottery. Basically, he's mostly dusting around.

Anyone is welcome to come dust with him, force him to do more than just dust, or come to him for any help you may need, from getting that hard to reach place or if you're being chased by a "surprise". But anyone that does come to him better prepare for a particularly dour expression from him. Making him clean was just Not Cool.

Surprises
Overall, he hasn't come across anything surprising at any of the places he's helped at. However, at this particular old style Japanese temple he has a strange run in...

He was looking for a bathroom that someone told him needed looking into. Night had fallen and if it was still dirty it might attract "unwanted attention", he had said. King had no idea what that could mean, and of all things he could have imagined (which mostly revolved around weird old men hanging around in bathrooms), what he saw when he opened the door and lit the room with a lantern was no one of them.

A twisted sort of humanoid creature with a long tongue that was disturbingly licking up the filth in the bathroom. An akaname. A folk legend he hadn't thought about since he was a kid and his parents told it to him to make him clean his bathroom out of fear.

It was not pleased he had interrupted its meal, and lunged forward.

Anyone nearby will hear a scream at this point, but by the time they track down the origin, King will have composed himself, staring with rough stoicism at the door he had slid shut with a bang before scrambling back against the hall wall. Anyone that approaches will notice the door shaking as the creature moves to open it...

King is a solitary being. He is a solitary being because he is a socially awkward shut in, but anyone looking at him may get the impression he is a solitary being because he is so badass he doesn't need company. His guns are all the company he needs. (Hah.)

Though, interestingly, this grim-faced man appears to be jabbing his thumb at a furious speed at the buttons of his flip phone while cramming a rice ball distractedly into his mouth, never taking his eyes off the small screen. Is he sending off angry, threatening texts to someone? (No, in fact, he's playing a lame little Tetris-like game that came with his phone that was still on his person when he was brought here. But it's the only game he has on him, so he's making the best out of it as much as he can.)

[ ... Well, she supposes there could be more dangerous things to be doing. Naminé's picked up a handkerchief, so she's not sneezing up a storm anymore; but her eyes are a little red, and she's trying not to itch them.

What does she find? So much. There's a teapot that's trying its best to attach itself to her hand; there's a notebook she's very hastily tossed to the side because of its spicy contents; there's... a box of donuts that still looks fresh? That can't be normal. She's very pointedly not touching those, because who knows what terrible things have been done to those to make them last for what she assumes is a long time... You know. Since there's a thick layer of dust on the box. ]

Dinner

[ So Naminé is covered practically head to toe in dust, because apparently she's gotten... ambitious. Find her cleaning up before she heads to get food--at least she's not wearing her dress, but shorts and a tanktop because dresses aren't sensible to clean in. Her hair's pulled back, too, kind of messily. Naminé, though, looks pretty proud of herself! She's managed to actually help out, after all.

Which is why she thinks she deserves a short break, and she's looking over the spread. Wow... There's a lot to choose from, she's not even sure where to start. ]

[There's a cloud of dust drifting out of one of the side rooms off the main hall. Inside, half-obscured at the source of the cloud, is Hakkai, with a handkerchief neatly tied over his hair, a feather duster in hand, and a huge pile of boxes surrounding him. He's opening each box in turn, dusting absolutely everything, and sorting the contents.

One pile seems to contain old office supplies and trash: brushes with the hair falling out, broken inkstones, torn paper and ancient newspapers.

One pile is full of books and notebooks.

The remaining pile looks extremely miscellaneous. Hakkai rips tape off one more box with a satisfying shearing sound, throws back the flaps, and pulls out...

... a finely detailed 8:1 figure of a scantily clad and unrealistically endowed young woman? He weighs it in his hand, eyeing the Miscellaneous pile and the Trash pile. Decisions, decisions.]

Surprise!

[There's still dust in Hakkai's hair as he heads for the next door. He's going to need a long, hot bath after today, but there's something deeply satisfying about attacking the Heavens with a feather duster nonetheless.

The feather duster isn't exactly what he wants in hand when he opens the next door, though, and dozens of long, spindly, hairy legs with clawed human hands on the end come rushing through. He leaps back, dropping the duster and bringing his hands together as a weird, hair-clotted thing like a head drags through the door and rears up, hands spreading at the end of far too many limbs.

The smile on his face, suddenly, appears one hundred percent genuine and quite a bit more frightening than his usual cheerful expression.

Cleaning is a great stress reliever, but it has absolutely nothing on the opportunity to kill something with his bare hands.]

[There's one sure thing about spring cleaning, and that is: you've got to figure out what to do with all of the junk once you've finally gotten it out of the closets and attics where it's been collecting dust for years.

Axel is here to provide that answer for you. He's sitting out on the steps of the main hall, feet stretched comfortably out in front of him and elbows propped on the steps. He's even got a bag of chips that he's working his way through. In front of him, there's a circle chalked on the pavement with a charred mark and a small heap of ashes in the center.

Lazy? No way! He's providing a useful service, and the characters chalked next to his circle reading INCINERATOR HERE ought to tell you as much.

But, hey, feel free to yell anyway.]

Shocking Surprise

[Incinerator service got boring after Axel finished his morning snack, so he's poking his nose into some of those hidden rooms on side hallways.

Half of them have already been cleaned. Some of them make weird noises when he approaches, and he's been leaving those closed. This one, though, this one looked like your average dusty, cluttered storeroom with weird jars and scrolls scattered all over the shelves... at least until he walked in and grabbed one of the scrolls to check it. That's when there was a flash, a jolt through his whole body, and he found himself flung right out the storeroom door to bounce off the opposite wall.

He sits up, groaning. What he doesn't realize is that every hair on his body... and his head... is standing on end.]

[Ugh. Cleaning. Kurama doesn't do cleaning if he doesn't absolutely have to, and as far as he's concerned, all the other gods and shinki helping means he doesn't absolutely have to. Instead he can be found paging through the contents of bookshelves, inspecting ancient CDs, and otherwise generally making an effort to entertain himself while still looking vaguely productive. Feel free to intervene or join in, and also to mistake him for an unusually tall young woman if this is your first time seeing him.]

[It turns out that, at some point, an unknown god thought it would be a great idea to cram a bunch of spirit foxes into a sealed room together. They're not particularly old or powerful foxes--single tails and red-furred the lot of them--but they're smart enough to yield to Kurama when he calls them to order, and to follow as meekly as can be expected (which, for foxes, is "not very").

As Kurama escorts the foxes single-file towards a place where they can safely return to the Near Shore, one or another calls out occasionally, in human voices often as not unsuitable for such small creatures, things like "how much longer?" and "hey boss, can I--" and "anybody else smell birds?" Will you try helping, or stop the whole train for a Q&A session?]

[There are man-eating plants all up the back of Xochipilli's garden, in addition to the anti-smoking patrol at the base of the front stairs. But you didn't provoke either group in a misguided attempt to clean up this old ruin, right? Right?]

[No magic tricks this time, just an effeminate teenage redhead's daily quest to eat more food than his narrow frame should be able to hold. Gross? Impressive? Little bit of both?
