Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

[Okay, that's significantly less impressive when he moves a bench like that. Jae-Ha can't hold back his laughter as he about doubles over...]

You can't control it at all! What a cruel gift! They're testing you!

[This leg weirdo is laughing at him... You're cute, Jae-Ha, but not that cute. Hazel turns his head to frown at him, then wonders—

And then Jae-Ha is sent abruptly across the room, just like the bench. But better. Hazel raises an eyebrow, very impressed with himself.]

Leavin' so soon?

[razzledazzles]

[—ah. His laughter is cut off at the strange sensation, and then he's startling back into place on the stairs. Alright, he gets it and all, but something about that is beyond uncomfortable.]

Very funny. [He's walking back up these stairs, pointedly checking out his own arms and body.] Be careful with that! If you had taken just part of me like that bench, what would have happened?

[churchbelle]

[check that leggie]

I'm gettin' some practice in! Didn't ya just say they're testin' me?

[Clearly it makes sense that he practice, so shush.]

Ya look fine from here.

[razzledazzles]

I was thinking you would practice on something inanimate. I feel a bit violated after that...

[Gosh!! He says that pretty weirdly, but nevermind that, because he's back over at the piano to peer at it, testing a key or two.]

[churchbelle]

Beg pardon, then. I'll warn ya next time.

[Maybe. Anyway, rather than accidentally send the piano sailing out the window or something, he stoops to pick up the little bench and bring it back over. Is it time for him to be impressed??]

Do ya play?

[razzledazzles]

I don't know.

[Memory and all that... He presses a few keys testingly, and it forms a chord that's not so bad. So he'll just help himself to sitting on the bench that's been brought back over.]

It feels more familiar than most things, and not as familiar as others. Why don't we see? [And after some strangely nostalgic staring at the piano keys that lasts only a few seconds, he starts playing a song. Some romantic, slow one with occasional flourishes seems to come to him as easily as ever.

Guess he does know a little!]

[churchbelle]

[He better scoot over, because Hazel's joining him on this bench whether he moves or not. It's his, he's allowed. Anyway, it seems like Jae-Ha can indeed play piano... and yet Hazel's sort of stuck on thinking about how shinki's lives even work, without memories... Why does this green asshole have to make him think about other people's feelings? Inconsiderate.

He'll just watch him play piano for a while then... clearly not a man who is thinking about anything else.]

Better'n me, that's for sure.

[razzledazzles]

[Jae-Ha is learning right here and now that he really loves music. What an enlightening trip! He really seems to get into playing it, but his fingertips slow and he comes to a stop after that comment from Hazel.]

That's a relief. I wouldn't want to play something terrible on a piano like this. [It's very fancy and pretty. He likes it.] If you can't play it, do you at least like it, or was it meant just for show?

[churchbelle]

[It sure is fancy and pretty, so is everything else in this huge house. It's a Hazel pattern. Since Jae-Ha's through with his song, Hazel reaches out to run his fingers over a few keys without actually pressing any of them. Fancy things in his fancy house...]

What's that worryin' over it? It's a fine instrument. Ya might have to come back and play it every now and again, since I don't know how.

[razzledazzles]

It would be a shame to leave such a fine instrument untouched for too long.

[That is to say, he's very pleased at that invitation, and it shows in his warm smile. See, he's happy! Music... He should have known music was an interest from what he thought of listening to fifty ringtones per day, but this was something different, experiencing it like this.

He reaches over near Hazel's hand to press a few keys in a chord, like he's showing him. Come on, do it! It's fun, make a nice sound.]

[churchbelle]

[Hazel is smooth as silk, evidence: Jae-Ha. This can't at all be because Jae-Ha is super thirsty, it's all Hazel.]

As long as ya can figure out more than one song. [How many times can he listen to Sad Romantic Bollywood Ringtone: Piano Cover? Not every time.

But, oh- is he trying to teach him? Hazel gives him a look, but presses the keys anyway... A whole chord. Praise be.]

[razzledazzles]

I'm feeling them out, but I might even take requests, if they're from you.

[While Hazel presses that chord he showed him how to do, Jae-Ha moves his other hand to press a few keys in a melody along with it. See? A small section. How nice!! How nice, this music. He really wishes he could remember.]

It's even in tune. You've had a little piece of heaven itself delivered.

[churchbelle]

[Time for him to request chopsticks...]

Not as if they had to carry it all that far. [He's looking at the piano while he says this, poking out the same chord again. This whole literally-the-Heavens thing is a lot to take in. Almost as strange as all the dead people with no memories around! Great.

He lifts his other hand to whap lightly at Jae-Ha's elbow, hello, not sorry about the nudge.]

Let's see another one. A man can't be a complete embarrassment in his own home.

[learn him more pianos!!]

[Ah. The whap is a little cute, honestly. He laughs, nudging lightly back in response before he leans over to show him another. He holds it for a second before releasing and waiting for Hazel to follow.]

Enough to impress, at least. [Once Hazel follows it, he'll press a few keys slowly with his left hand as well. He can teach him a simple song to start! Hazel can now host properly in this big fancy house of his.]

It's relaxing, isn't it? [do you like the piano]

[He's so into this piano... Hazel has to wonder why they put a piano he can't play in his house instead of leaving it somewhere else, but whatever, he's learning another basic chord now. He's great at pressing keys Jae-Ha points out beforehand...]

I've been relaxed. [No he hasn't, he's a tiny liar. Sitting here poking piano keys isn't a bad way to kill time though, so... congrats??]

[razzledazzles]

Have you?

[He likes to think he knows when a man's relaxed! But alright, he'll just hum like it's a real mystery as he draws his finger across all of the keys in a nice run.] Try a bit yourself, then.

[churchbelle]

[Don't judge him, he hears that. Since he can't pass up a pointless piano challenge, though, he plucks out the same chord again, while reaching past Jae-Ha's other hand to try and invent a sequence that goes with this chord and doesn't sound like a dying animal.

He has never played the piano before today. How is he doing???]

[razzledazzles]

Don't be so hesitant! You're on the right track.

[He's doing a lot better than Yona would. It doesn't sound like dying animals, even if it's not exactly musical genius. It's encouraging all the same! Jae-Ha loves this sort of thing, so he happily leans to re-press Hazel's fingers on the chord keys. He lets his other hand hover over Hazel's other before pressing some of those notes that had sounded pretty nice— but he does them a little faster. You know, more melody to it.]

Something like... that? [Embrace creativity, Hazel.]

[churchbelle]

[Ah, more help- Not a method he would have expected, but he's fine with it. He hums, a noncommittal noise not at all related to the music, and tries to mimic again what Jae-Ha is doing. He doesn't have a creative bone in his body, unfortunately...]

This ain't exactly up my alley. I was better at sports when I was a boy.

[Excuses, honestly, but not false ones!]

[Not everyone's a musician. Hmm, but in a way, that tells him his own place with instruments even more. His hands slide back, touching to the piano just beneath the keys as he laughs.]

This is a talent that blooms from the heart, not skill! [He has that feeling, at least.] But perhaps you're more suited to being serenaded than serenading. Could I play one more song?

[churchbelle]

[Alright, alright. He pulls his hands back from the keys, holding them up as if in defeat.]

My heart ain't right for it either, then. [Maybe if he weren't so bitter. Never mind that when he's getting serenaded again, though.] Play anythin' ya want.

[razzledazzles]

[Jae-Ha won't bother him with any further commentary on Hazel not being suited to or wanting to play more music. He doesn't mind either way, after all. He can have fun playing on his own. So, that's what he'll do, taking advantage of this piano here to quietly play another song. This one's less romantic and a lot more nostalgic and sad, but it suits him somehow, and it's all good music.

He lets the last note linger fairly long before pulling his hands to his lap.]

I haven't put you to sleep, have I? I got so into it, that one was a bit longer than it should have been.

[churchbelle]

[One day this man will learn how to play something happy, good god. Hazel listens, watching his hands at first. By the end of the song he's shifted on the bench, leaning his elbow on the very very edge of the piano, away from the keys - he will lean on this piano however he wants, it's his - to watch Jae-Ha's face instead. This guy, his sad songs and his feelings all over the place just from that... Hazel would probably be wise to stop thinking about it.

But he's not very wise, and anyway, he's still looking at Jae-Ha without even trying to make it seem like he hasn't been for a good couple minutes.]

Music's easy to follow, even if I can't make any of my own. There's plenty to appreciate. [so........... nice] You're a talented young man.

[razzledazzles]

[He doesn't react to the staring at all, but the compliment catches him so off guard that he can't even properly tsun at it. His surprise is visible for all of a second before he laughs lightly and looks back at the piano.]

What do you think? Is this where you want it? We've both discovered something about ourselves today. [Smiling, he presses his own hands together in a soft, single clap.] You could redecorate without breaking a sweat!
