[It comes as a surprise to Kaneki that Shun says as much. He understands that Shun is very frank person, not to mention one who makes no secret of the fact that he doesn't trust others right off the bat, but he's quite sure there's kindness in there, underneath all of that.

Shun had showed him how to get others' attention, where he'd attempted to investigate and failed to get the teachers to acknowledge him. And he'd helped encourage that man who had given up hope that he'd ever find his missing daughter. Even now, he's being kind to a little kitten that wants to hang all over him.

Is Shun rough around the edges? Sure, Kaneki won't deny that.

But he believes that he's a good person, and capable of working with the cats. That much seems like enough to him]


I guess it's just my opinion in the end, but...that's what they asked me for.
