Who: Umi Ryuuzaki and Fuu Hououji
What: Prayer #19
When: April 23
Where: Out and about on the Near Shore
Warnings: A little violence perhaps happening to animals :(
It had seemed like a simple job well done at the time. Dog's home, family's happy, followers gained, go home and reward themselves! If only there hadn't been a little bit of an odd feeling to go with it. Any concerns had to be followed up on, and when it turns out ol' Fluffy or Spike or... whatever... it was called was gone again, and that other, normally very docile pets had been escaping as well, there was obviously a deeper, darker cause.
Umi looked a little ill as they stepped out this time. "This is gonna turn out to be dangerous, isn't it?"

She doesn't like the idea of fighting. She doesn't have a weapon. She doesn't know what Umi transforms into. She doesn't really want to transform Umi at all.
Without Umi remembering she has magic or how to use it, she feels very alone.
She doesn't let it show at all, smiling. "It's better to remain positive, Umi-san. If there's trouble, I believe we can handle it."
no subject
She takes a deep breath, and steps a little closer to Fuu. "You're right. We're god and shinki for a reason after all."
no subject
But an ayakashi is an ayakashi and Fuu feels like something's prickling on the back of her neck. She hears yipping.
They're so far out of the way this time. At least they're not in the center of the city. She tightens her grip on Umi's hand. "Are you ready?"
no subject
Hopefully. If it's too big, though, hey! Another god's gonna notice, and she's already dead, so how much worse can she get?
"Ready and raring to go."
no subject
"Then let's follow the barking." She'll take a step forward to start looking for the ayakashi.

"... I'm going to call you Umi-san. Is that all right?"

"Tatsuki!"
no subject
Tatsuki is her name as a vessel.
Becoming a piece of headgear is a strange feeling; unlike the many shinki that become held objects, Umi becomes a fencing mask, a perfect fit over Fuu's head. "...can... you hear me?" she... voices... at Fuu.
no subject
She never expected Umi to turn into something like this. If anything, she'd expected a sword. But fencing had been important to her, hadn't it?
no subject
That was the truth of it.
Like she was meant to feel good about being a vessel or something.
no subject
Man though. When she rounds the next corner she was expecting one ayakashi, not, you know, three.
no subject
They don't have one.
"Uh, please be careful. Let me do everything I can to protect you," Umi reminds her hurriedly as they come face to face with WAY too much ayakashi.
no subject
She takes a deep breath and considers her options as they spot her.
Her only attack spell would do too much damage close quarters, but without a weapon she can't do much more than bind them in place.
She wishes Umi knew her magic. She wishes so much because literally any of her spells would be better here than calling a goddamn tornado.
No time to think about it though, as the ayakashi have realized the pair are there.
no subject
"...got a plan?" she asks quietly.
no subject
But there's not many places in the city where she won't do serious damage. Her brain is going at a thousand miles per hour trying to strategize.
"We just need to weaken them enough to rend them." Would paralysis be enough?
no subject
"So you aren't secretly capable of any unarmed combat moves then."
no subject
In the mean time, though, as one begins to pounce toward them, Fuu is going to shout out her binding spell. That will hold them for a little at least?

Maybe she can ask Roxas about one, actually. Artemis was an archer goddess.
Bad time to be planning the future, though.

Fuu stop engaging her and please do something to save everyone's lives.
no subject
She has them immobilized for now! She's trying to think of a better plan. She really doesn't think she has more of an option than to use Emerald Typhoon, but it really is such a small area...

She sighs. Takes a deep breath. She doesn't have much of a choice.
She'll try to make sure to clean up afterward at least. She's going to need to find a bow or a sword or something.
"Emerald Typhoon!"
no subject
At least they haven't been attacked yet.
no subject
The third rushes forward, striking at Fuu as she recovers from the first spell.
no subject
"Watch out Fuu!" Umi cries out, as ice starts to form across Fuu's body where the ayakashi is aiming - before rapidly spreading outward to protect her. If and when the ayakashi strikes her, it'll find a followup attack just a little more difficult to make.
no subject
"Is this...?" She knows that shinki have their own powers, but this was not what she expected. "I--Thank you."
She lifts her hand to brush her fingers against the mask in thanks, and then frowns, grounding herself and unleashing another attack.

They're just souls. Corrupted, sad souls. What Umi could've been if she had no god to take care of her, or protect her. Or if Fuu didn't take good enough care of her.
She'll perform the rend, frown still deep and softly call Umi back to her human form. "Umi Ryuuzaki."
no subject
But now they had to... deal with these souls. Could they have been shinki too? Could she end up like them? It seemed unlikely with Fuu here, but it was obvoius that Fuu was far from thrilled.
Becoming human again was almost as weird as becoming a piece of headgear, and she shook her arms and legs out a little, blinking. "Are you alright, Fuu?"
no subject
"Just fine, thanks to you." It's a role reversal, Umi's magic protecting her and not the other way around.
