There's an effort, to try and keep his left side angled away from them. But it's instinctive for him to just let the fire overtake him, especially when he doesn't have his very flammable shirt between him and it. And with only the two people behind him, he doesn't have to worry about keeping the flames low when he takes care of the thicker portions of ice, sweeping a plume of fire across the surface, back and forth.
"It won't take that long," he says over his right shoulder, glancing back. "There's no point in trying to melt all of it, but we should at least do enough that no one's going to notice it if they're just walking by."
