He digs at his throat obscuring the tattoo. The pain a welcome change to the raw hunger clawing at his throat making it impossible to even think! His stomach churns and his form convulses bringing him to his knees. His hands slam forward breaking the fall as his instincts single out the faint sound of a heart beating in the distance. He covers his ears to block out the sound but it doesn't go away!

Starvation.

It turned vampires mad. And Zero had been starving himself for far too long.

His body screams in agony, forcing his instincts to the surface as hunger grips him in its claws forcing his heart rate up, the sound mixing with the steady one in the distance. It was close. If he--

"Stop it!"

He grits his teeth and his breathing falls into ragged breaths. He's losing control. Beneath the blood and raw skin, his tattoo begins to glow and his eyes pulse a deep red. He's slipping, falling off the ledge of sanity and the monster lurking inside raises its head and tests the will that always kept it at bay, and for the first time it come away with a grin. The Hunter lost more than his memories, he lost his strength to defy it.

Time passes and his throat begins to heal while that beating heart echoes in his mind drawing the vampire toward the source, a wide grin marring its lips when its meal falls within its sights.

He's not 100% sure what he feels, but he feels something, and whatever it is, the sensation is both alarming and familiar.

Itachi is outside, taking time to reflect, thinking about the past few days and what his decision on speaking with his god is. A part of him is worried that he will insult his god, while the other half finds himself not caring. It would do him well to care, at least a little. He's not heartless, and even if his god has not utilized him as of yet, perhaps he needs him. However, another god, Sasuke-sama, has already shown that does need him... and how can he deny the other that, when it is so apparent?

He's attempting to ignore the creeping feeling, but eventually it's not enough. He stands from the bench that he is sitting in, looking towards the shadows.

"...Who is there?"

"What."

Zero emerges from the shadows, blood marring his otherwise pristine throat.

"You don't recognize me?"

Light eyes fall on the familiar shinki, his ears following the steady beat of his heart.

It's late. Or early, depending on how you look at it. Hiyoko is taking a walk through a park on the near shore. She should probably know better than to be wandering around alone at this hour. But she's a goddess now! And besides, she knows how to take care of herself.

What's the worst that could happen?

She stops for a moment to pet a passing stray cat.

"So Kitty, I don't suppose you know anything about existential politics..."


'Mrow?'


"Yeah, didn't think so."

Honoka doesn't really have much awareness of her surroundings. She's on her way back from picking up prayers from Enyo's shrine in the evening, humming a tune to a some show's theme song. They did a prayer, maybe if she keeps bringing them home Bakugou'll do more of them. There she is, completely oblivious to the vampire that's stalking her.

Kido's not the most observant kid. Her earbuds plugged in and doing her best to stay out of the way (she doesn't need another Hajime ambush, c'mon), she's also not the most defensive of people. She takes back routes to get to the apartments and pays more attention to the thudding of the bass in her ears and the way her are going on the ground than what's going on around her.

It's not a great idea, honestly. Even if most of the time she's safe, there've been way too many attacks in heaven, lately.

She's unguarded, alone, and inattentive. This can't go well for her no matter what.

He's about to relax. "Ah, Zero-san, it's--"

And then he spots the blood on his neck, and his red eyes go wide.

"Zero-san..." And he heads over, a walk at first and then a slow trot to the close the distance between them. A hand lifts up, itching to touch the marred throat but unable. "What happened...?"

A little known fact about vampires - animals are frightened of them and run at the first sign of one. A fact that holds true when the cute little feline suddenly hisses, its back arching as every hair on its body stands in alarm before taking off.

"You think it recognized me?"

Zero emerges from the shadows, blood marring his otherwise pristine throat.

Like a shadow in the dark, he moves past her with fluid grace and emerges ahead, stepping into her line of sight only when she draws closer.

"That's a nice song."

She doesn't notice him until he's right there. Even still, she doesn't seem that worried about it, even if she does jump in surprise.

"You think so? It's the opening to a show I really like!"

"Why? Have you been picking on him when I'm... not.. around?"

She had turned with an amused smile on her face, but it falls away as she takes in the blood on his neck. There is a moment of silence.

And then she's rushing toward him.

"Oh my gosh are you okay?!? Are you hurt? What happened?"

The wind carries her scent in the air which as him stopping in his tracks to trace it back to the source and there, up ahead, he spots her.

His lips lift up, admiring the ease in which she moved while utterly alone. Like a shadow in the dark, he moves past her with fluid grace and emerges ahead, stepping directly in her path.

"You should really pay attention more."

Blood mars his otherwise pristine throat.

She's startled by another pair of shoes entering her vision, and that's what makes her stop and look up. Normally she'd ignore someone, but--is that blood? She yanks the earbuds out of her ears in a second.

"H-holy shit... are you okay?" How is he still standing...?

"Is it?"

He steps into the moonlight, and blood glints off his otherwise pristine throat.

"What show?"

He steps closer, his ears picking up the sound of blood rushing through her veins.

His lips turn into a solid grin at his approach, catching the rush of blood flowing through his veins. It lures him in, making him complacent as the shinki hesitates to go further.

"I was hungry."

His lips tug into a secret smile at her reaction and he stays in place, letting his prey come to him. It was always better when they were close, so close he could smell the fear in their blood when they realized the truth.

"I was hungry."

He looks down at the girl, her reaction predictable. Expected. So much so that his hand reaches out to let a lock of her hair the wind blew forward to slide against his skin as his ears picked up the sound of blood rushing through her veins.

"I saw you were alone."

A perfect target.

That's only a little weird. Maybe it's the blood loss. Kido stares at his hand, but doesn't jerk away like she normally would, at least.

"Yeah, but--I can call somebody to get help. You're bleeding..." She doesn't know any first aid or anything but blood is bad and the boss would know who to call for help...?

"It's this anime about ido-" She pauses as she manages to catch the blood on his throat.

"Um... are you okay? Are you bleeding...? You should go see somebody about that!"

He captures a strand of hair between his fingers admiring the strength in the single strand when her words catch his interest and he looks back at her, amused by her remark.

"It healed."

"Hungry?"

She shakes her head impatiently.

"No, I mean the blood! Did you get into a fight with somebirdie?"

At first she thought the blood was his, but now that she's closer.... He doesn't look injured. A familiar feeling starts creeping up her spine. It's that same feeling she always got when Dr. Iwamine snuck up on her. He spent a lot of time covered in unexplained blood too. But... but this isn't a suspicious partridge. This is Zero. He's a friend. So... there has to be an explanation, right?

His eyes fall down to look at her, amused by her remark.

"It healed."

"You should get cleaned up still..." She takes a step back to look around for somewhere nearby that might have water.

"What are you doing out here like that...?"

It... healed? But it's on his throat? That's probably one of the worst places to get hurt, right?

"E-even still, you should get somebody to look at it! There's no way neck injuries can be good for you!"

Seemingly distracted, his hand lifts up to capture a stray lock of hair.

"Not unless you want to fight me."

An idea that suddenly piques his interest the moment it enters his mind. Blood, after all, tasted sweeter with the rush of fear and adrenaline lacing each drop.

Something is telling him to really pull back, escape the situation. In hindsight, he'll learn that listening to his feeling would be in his best interest, but for now his only friend is bleeding and... talking about being hungry?

"I don't understand." But his hand finishes it's motion, pressing against the side of Zero's neck, in case he's still bleeding profusely. "We should get you some help.

"Are you dizzy? You must be... you're bleeding so much..."
