009 | Where Your Demons Hide
Who: Everyone!
What: Emergency demon fighting
When: Late May 5-Early May 6
Where: Just outside of Tokyo
Summary: The demon from the school has reared its ugly head again and needs to be taken down.

On the evening of May 5, the Heavens suddenly receive an influx of prayers from people in and around a certain town just outside of Tokyo. There seem to be a lot of people in the area that have suddenly stopped responding normally (or at all). The situation continues to spread as the night goes on until not only is the whole town suffering from this malady, but the neighboring towns are starting to become affected as well.
With so many gods and shinki on hand - including new ones that have just appeared - the Heavens have issued a request for any available gods and shinki to go investigate what might be happening down on the Near Shore. New gods and shinki will be given the low-down on what's happening, but not much more than that.
The situation will continue to expand until just a little before dawn, when the demon finally has enough power to revive.

Drained Humans
Many humans in the affected areas are walking around despondently. Oftentimes, they are just walking into things or getting hit by things. There have been a few car-related incidents as well. Anyone who was present for the high school incident will recognize these symptoms as something that was happening to people in the school. The glazed looks, the spiritless responses and reactions. So this should be fairly familiar to some.
No One's Safe
Unfortunately, being in the town will start to wear on anyone who is there. Gods and shinki alike will find themselves growing more despondent the longer they spend in the town. All of their energy will be slowly sapped from their bodies, and shinki in particular will feel almost like their existence is draining away.
Hellish Circle
There is a large park in the center of the town. Drawn all around this park is a magic circle, large enough to encompass the whole park. There are candles around the edges of the circle, and in the center there is a cup filled with blood covered by a mask with a swirling eye pattern on it. Stepping into this circle will not only make you extremely tired and suddenly drained, but it will also bring bat-like ayakashi bearing down on you.
The Demon
The Demon itself rears its ugly head just a little before dawn, springing out from the center of the magic circle and looking right pleased with itself. It stands about 5'8" tall, so it is largely unimposing, but there is an aura about it that makes it undeniable that it is powerful. The demon will gladly fight anyone who comes at it, though most he will just shove out of the way without a second thought.

In Summary:
- Help the drained people
- Try not to get drained yourself
- Be careful about being corrupted
- Fight the demon
- Have fun~

[It wouldn't be a good idea for them to get into a fight with an ayakashi without their shinki either. Weapons and magic can only go so far against them before they'd get worn out. Best to stick to the protecting instead of going on the offensive.]
Well I know there's a bubble tea place near here and I think they have a coffee one? But I'd get a milk tea...
[Sora shakes his head and yawns.]
No, I'm fine though, I think.
[Looking around, Sora soon notices that a small boy is walking along the riverside of a stream that cuts through the town nearby. He's stumbling awkwardly and almost slips. Alarmed, Sora points. That energy drained kid is gonna fall in!]
Hey!! That kid!

[Between holding onto Sora and needing to get an innocent from drowning, which would Aymeric choose to forsake?
....this is Aymeric de Borel we're talking about, right?
So he slings Sora over his shoulder and rushes to grab the child by the arm, pulling him away from the water.]
That was too close.
no subject
[Oh okay he was not expecting to be thrown over his god-son's shoulders like a sack of Sora-potatoes.
But his surprise is turned to relief when Aymeric manages to save the kid before he slips into the water.]
That's great and all, but can you put me down?
no subject
[This is important otherwise he's staying on. At least the child he's holding onto is staying still but looking up at him with a dazed look.]
no subject
I think I’m okay? I don’t know why I feel so weak; you’re not feeling weak too?
[Aymeric is… lumberjack strong, isn’t he?]
no subject
Keeping Sora steady, he lifts the child up, making sure he hangs on tight.]
It will be alright, we'll get you to a place where you can rest.
[Despite the situation, Aymeric's voice is calm and soothing, which makes the little boy groan and bury his face in the man's shirt.]
I do feel a lack of strength but that will not stop me.
[And to prove it, the elezen sprints towards the nearest safe spot for both child and teenager.]
no subject
Aymeric!! Put me down, okay! I can walk, really!!
[Gonna flail and squirm a lot.]
If you keep pushing yourself you're gonna get exhausted and then you'll be doing no one any good!!
no subject
You were almost sound asleep before I arrived.
[Enough said on that. His grip on the innocent child gets slightly tighter because he can feel himself lose strength slowly but he still pushes on. This isn't the first time he was compromised...and not the first for someone to tell him to not even try. This world may not be like Ishgard but no matter when or where, Aymeric had to push. Story of his life of being an illegitimate bastard child.]
I shall be fine, getting this boy out of harm's way is my highest priority.
[He can see a place open, just need to reach it. And yes, he's fucking stubborn.]
no subject
I was just taking a quick power nap.
[Sora begins whining and pouting. Do you really want that, Aymeric? Luckily they're almost there because Sora is about ready to flail is arms wildly.]
I don't want you getting hurt or sick, Aymeric...!
no subject
[It's quiet but there's force behind each word. It is his duty...and he will fulfill it. The place that is open happens to be a home goods store which Aymeric is grateful for as he runs inside with both boys. Setting Sora down, he spots a display bed and places the boy down on it, he immediately closing his eyes.]
Not the ideal place but better than nothing...
no subject
You're a good person, did you know that Aymeric?
[He doesn't know too much about Aymeric's life before coming here but he can tell there are long enduring stories in those eyes. He's lost a lot and fought for a lot, hasn't he?]
I'm glad I know you. And I'm glad you're a god that is so willing to help others. I think this place needs more people like you.
no subject
But he worries still. Sora may believe gods are good but Aymeric doesn't think so. Primals feed on the land's energy and destroy it in the process, tempering souls to do nothing but pray for salvation, pray to their gods for succor. Will he become nothing more than a menace, needing to be culled just like the beastmen's deities?]
I...I just do what feels right. We may not be in my homeland but I uphold my sworn duty as a knight should, no matter where I may be.
no subject
Helping people is important. Having a good heart and following duty is important too. But it doesn’t have to be everything; there’s a balance of light and dark in everyone. And that’s okay. I think it’s important that gods remember that. We're not all seeing.
[Sora doesn’t like the idealism that gods are better than anyone else. To be worshipped or held on a pedestal higher than others. To him being a god is simply being there to help others. Like this tired kid. Aymeric shouldn't fear his godhood. His heart is in the right place.]
no subject
For some, 'tis better not. There are those who think being 'all-seeing' will make the future much more prosperous and happy for the next generation...I do not see myself as a god for various reasons but I believe in people, Sora. I would have not fought for them if it was not the case. It is them who have the say, not me.
[In all honesty, he's a worshiper of Halone. He's gone to church, followed the scriptures and rules and yet with the origins revealed, even Aymeric is unsure how to feel about what is the true way for following the Fury's word. Countless men did so in ignorance and in return innocents died. But what now? He still presses on and tends to keep the spiritual part of him quiet in this world. No one asks and he's fine with not bringing attention.]
Wrap
You're right. So long as we represent what's right people will believe in us. And we'll do the same.
[With that Sora stands up, stronger and more awake than before.]
Let's get back out there and help.
