[ closed ] It is a Great Virtue to be Needed
Who: Itachi, Lance, and Sasuke
What:Potential Wife Swap Itachi asks Lance to let him go so he can be the shinki to another god, accompanied by Sasuke :3
When: Evening, May 6th
Where: Lance's Place!
Warnings: None!
It had been a hell of a week, really. He'd explored the temples of other gods, he got bit by someone he'd consider his best friend, and now he was standing in front of Lance's temple, pacing, because he didn't know how to ask what he'd been meaning to for some time now.
Itachi has a bandage wrapped around his neck from where he'd gotten bitten by Zero. He'd spent the past few days hiding from Lance, mainly because he didn't know what to say or if he should even go to him for any kind of problem he had. Sure, the other was his god, but it sure didn't feel like it. Maybe it was his personality. Perhaps it was just his own fault that he didn't feel like he could get close. Who knew.
The point was, he didn't feel needed, or wanted, and that feeling that had been irritating the back of his head like an itch he couldn't scratch would not go away. The former ninja felt like he was needed elsewhere. All he had to do was tell him.
He was still pacing. A part of him felt like he needed to do it now, before Sasuke arrived, but another half of him wasn't sure if he could say what he needed to without the god there with him. So he waited, patiently, until either he got the gusto or Sasuke arrived--whichever came first.

Exploring other temples wasn't something he'd bothered to do, so he literally had no clue what or who it was he was looking for, but he'd managed to fumble through enough descriptions of Itachi at each temple he came to that eventually someone was able to point him in the right direction. If not for the fact that he'd been asked to be there, he'd have stayed home until his body healed after getting torn up by Zero. The multiple slashes to his wings had transferred themselves to his back after they'd retracted -something he didn't remember from the last time he'd had that form- but even so, trying to bandage injuries was hard with one hand, and high-collared shirts were going to have to be a thing again.
He'd better appreciate this...
Upon reaching the temple, his steps slow to an almost lazy pace, his hand tugging at his shirt here and there, fidgeting with the bandages beneath. He's never met this god before, and up until the encounter with Zero, he'd considered the entire thing a load of crap, but now... now he knows better. If he's stuck here, then he's going to play the role he was put into to the best of his ability.
"You know, you could've given me a name. It would've made finding this place so much easier."
just gonna back and forth with you here for a bit
"Sasuke-sama," He greeted, though it was slow. Talking kind of hurt with his neck injured. "You made it.
"...I thought the description would have been enough. I didn't realize there were so many temples to keep track of."
it's cool, it's cool
But it does now. Now, he wants to learn the area -both the near and far shores- so that he doesn't ever end up in another situation like the one with Zero again. If he knows the area, he can plan an escape route and use the terrain and surroundings to his advantage. It'll take time, but that's perfectly fine with him.
"Whether you want me to or not, I don't really care, but I need to sit down for a bit."
Don't mind him, he'll just pick a relatively out of the way spot that he can perch on, leaning forward to rest his arms on his knees and keep his back from pressing up against anything. He's never really been torn up like this before without having Karin or Sakura around, so he's having to actually baby his body a bit and it's kind of annoying.

"You being here is enough, Sasuke-sama," He spoke truthfully, and it was. It gave him the courage to be able to do what he'd wanted to do after Zero had talked to him... before he went crazy, that is. Even meeting the other like that had sparked something in him...
Would he end up like that, without the supervision and care of a god?
"I'll go and get Lance-sama now." He turned on his heel, heading towards the door. He glimpsed back at Sasuke, before calling into the temple to ask if Lance would talk with him outside.

He's quiet as Itachi goes to fetch Lance, unsure of what this is going to turn into. He doesn't know the other god, he's never met him before in his life, and if their positions were reversed, Sasuke wouldn't trust him with anything or anyone if he showed up all beat to hell. Like he is now.
No, he has to treat this like anything else he's ever done. Sure, none of that is anything he's really proud of, but he knows how he can be when he wants something. It's the same as that. He can do this.
After a short break to rest, Sasuke pushes himself to his feet, intent on being standing when they return. He's supposed to be a god, so even if it physically hurts, he needs to at least present himself like one.

"Hey Itachi! Uh… who's your friend here? Did I have a meeting no one told me about?"
Leave it to Lance to try and make jokes when he was uncertain and confused. Good going.

"Lance-sama, this is Sasuke-sama." He looked to Sasuke, then back to Lance. "He's another god."
no subject
"Don't mind me. I'm only here because I was asked to be."
After all, it's not like he can say 'hi, you have my brother as your shinki so I'll probably be coming by a lot'. That might be be a little bit slightly awkward and all parts destructive. It's probably best for him to stay a passive observer on this one and not get too involved.

He let out a laugh. "Another god, huh? Which one are you? I'm ... uh... Tlaloc! Dang, I still have a hard time remembering it."
Despite the fact that he had no idea why Itachi was bringing Sasuke to meet him, Lance was actually playing things off mostly cool, like it wasn't weird or awkward. "So what brings you guys here?" He directs the question to Itachi. He didn't see his shinki around a whole lot, after all.

"Lance-sama," He spoke, and for the first time he felt sure about his decision.
"...Since I arrived, I've been troubled with thoughts on everything here and how to properly manage myself as your shinki. I've found that without guidance I am not a tool worth using... and Lance-sama, you have yet to give me any orders or a direction. Therefore..."
And he bowed again, remaining in the position, his ponytail drooping towards the floor.
"I humbly ask that you release me from your care."
no subject
"Kali." Even as he says it, he can't quite hide the slight curve of his lips at Lance's difficulty in remembering who he was. At least their existence relied on other people knowing, because otherwise the guy might have some technical difficulties, and Sasuke probably would've denounced himself into non-existence by now.
But as soon as Itachi speaks, the reason for why he'd wanted him here is obvious. A part of him wants to tell Itachi to knock it off - he's not a tool, he's not a thing to be used and discarded - but he knows better than to open his mouth now. Instead, he's going to stare at Itachi with wide eyes and hope that Lance doesn't take offense.
He doesn't know what the man is capable of, after all.

And suddenly something else makes sense too. Holy crow, how had he not noticed it before? These two look so much alike, don't they? Could they be related somehow? It wouldn't surprise him, after all his teammates were here too. That explained a lot, really it did.
A shaky smirk takes up residence on Lance's face as he rubs the back of his head. "Hey, hey, enough with the bowing. I like the attention, sure, but it's … it's weird."
He sighs softly, lowering his hand and… gently patting Itachi on top of the head. Which is easier to do with him bowing, to be honest. "If that's what you want, I really don't mind doing it. Sorry I'm a crummy god, I just don't know what I'm doing here…" Plus he's been panicking on and off about his friends, but whatever. It's cool.

"..." A bit of silence.
It's not that you're a bad god," He replied honestly. "It's the fact that... you don't need me. That's why. A shinki who cannot serve their god is equivalent to nothing.
"...But I feel as if Sasuke-sama does need me. So... I'd like to be his shinki." Another bow.
"Thank you for understanding."
no subject
"You're not the only one that feels like a lousy god. I'm not easy to put up with, and even though Keith said he was willing to try, I don't really know what it is I'm supposed to be doing so I haven't bothered."
Watching the other two interact, though... he could've trusted Lance not to harm or abuse Itachi. The guy doesn't seem like that type, if he's honest.

Of course, that's when Sasuke's words get to him and Lance blinks once. Twice. Three times. And then his mouth drops open in shock. "You...! You're...!! Keith is your shinki?!"
Well, this is probably not where everyone expected the conversation to go. Sorry, Lance gets a little obsessive about his

"Yeah." His voice is tinged with confusion and curiosity, trying to figure out why that would be a shock. "...Why?"

How does one explain something like this? It's not a conversation he's used to having. Hell, none of this is anything he's used to!
"Sorry. I kind of... named Keith when we first got here. I didn't mean to like take him from you or anything, just... he's important to me." He pauses, and then promptly yells. "Don't tell him I said that though!!"
