[ closed ] I know the Gods wouldn't give me anything I can't handle
Who: Ronald Knox, Jade Curtiss, Kimihiro Watanuki
What: After the confrontation with ayakashi!Zero!
When: Backdated to May 11th
Where: Guanyin's temple
Warnings: N/A
It was good for them that Ron was able to travel with shadows, and after hurrying along, the three managed to land themselves at Guanyin's Temple. In the center courtyard was the fountain of holy water, with the stone figure of Guanyin sitting with crossed legs, and a lotus curled in several hands. Small waterfalls trickled down from open palms of many hands and into a large stone basin.
Watanuki, by this time, was lulling off in Jade's arms, and only the sounds of him groaning in pain were able to leave his lips. The blight covered most of his legs and his right arm and hand, crawling up his neck. And when he did talk--
"H-h... hurts..."

And when he did talk--
"H-h... hurts..."

And with that, he fought to stay conscious. His duty wasn't over yet. Not until he was three hundred percent sure that everything was really going to be alright.
"You were brilliant out there, Jade, honest." Ronald began, moving to shift Watanuki over to his right shoulder. "Best I handle the blight though. It'd prolly get worse if you got even more of it. Vicious cycle that..."
"S'alright, sweetheart." he murmured to the other god as he nudged him closer to the water. "I've got you."
no subject
He pulled in a sharp hiss as the blight was cleansed from his body. He watched their savior--Baron Samedi was it?
He let out a drawn out breath as he scooped the water into his hands and poured it over the corrupted areas.
His sharp red eyes peered over at the other two. It was a partly curious and partly scrutinizing gaze.

"Mmm--nng..." It felt like his legs were being seared off. He could only remember one time feeling this in pain--when he had fallen down from a building from a high story, and crashed in glass and the hard ground and--
"AH!" And he gave one last shudder, tears dripping into the fountain. "...I...
"Th-this is... s-...so painful..."
no subject
"S'alright..." he whispered, scooping water over his legs and arms. "You'll be aces... just... bear with it a bit more."
no subject
"Ah..." There was a heavy sigh, and Watanuki glanced up at Ron, stariig at him for a moment wit mismatched eyes. One blink, two, then--
"...You..." He hesitated. "You saved us...
"I thought you--" And there was a pause, before he continued, slowly. "Thank you...
"Thank you so much..."
no subject
Ronald offered him the smallest smile back, followed by a soft hiss he had been holding back. "Course I would, you bloody idiot. No need for thanks." He chuckled. "Saw you and Jade in a fix and it'd be ruddy shameless of me to just walk away. He's the reason we found a way out, by the by."
no subject
"Jade, are..." And his eyes looked over him, making sure his shinki was in one piece. "...You...
"Are you all right...?! Zero-san, he..." He'd turned into that monster and he almost got him and... and...!
no subject
"If this ever happens again, you must let me go! Release me from your ownership if you must, but don't ever try to sacrifice yourself for me again! God of Mercy or not." He didn't care if another person was there, he was going to say what was on his mind.
"You must remember that I am just a shinki! You have more purpose to people than I do. Do not waste yourself on me!"
no subject
"He's got a point, mate." he sighed, washing off his shoulder with a small wince. "Save the bit about being just a shinki. You're both dead in the sodding water without each other, mind. So it's best no one stick their neck out for anyone."
Said the pot calling the kettle black.
no subject
"...I wasn't wasting anything! I care about you, Jade! I wasn't going to let you just get killed!" Of course, he didn't exactly have a plan of action after that, but...
no subject
"It is my duty to see you unharmed, but how am I supposed to be efficient if you dive headfirst into danger without thinking of the end results? You don't think and that is going to get us both killed someday. If this man hadn't been there, it would have been today.
I know that you care about me. You don't have to throw away your life to show me"
Though the fact that Jade has lost his cool and collected composure shows that he may actually care about his god, too.
no subject
"Least everyone's back in one piece, eh?"
And he did offer a smile best he could... because what else could he do but what he was accustomed to at times like this.
no subject
"...I'm sorry," He finally let out. "...I didn’t mean to worry you." He didn’t know who he was talking to. But he could feel tears dripping down his face, regardless.
no subject
He sat in the fountain, feeling a lot better than when the blight was fresh, but very drained of energy.
"....
Is he doing all right over there?" Jade asked the Baron, finally addressing him directly.
no subject
But he glanced over his shoulder at the question. "He... prolly needs a minute. Or two." he replied, keeping that arm around him. There was a small, almost apologetic sigh to him as he turned his attention to the shinki best he could. "No worries. I've got him."

He let them have their moment. What this man was to his god was none of his business unless he was dangerous and he didn't seem like that at this time.
"You have my thanks for saving the both of us. I haven't given my appreciation properly yet." he said calmly. "You mentioned your name was Baron...Samedi?"
no subject
"Yeah, that's the name they gave me at least. Baron's fine, if you fancy. No thanks necessary. I'd rather not see either of you in trouble." he replied with a small smile back. "Still owe you a phone for that escape route though. Might start bringing a torch with me wherever I go just in case."
"I should... prolly bring Watanuki to his room or summat... poor sod has it worse'n I do." he offered as he straightened up.
no subject
"If it's no trouble" he replied politely. He might have been a frustrating individual, but he wasn't without his manners when they were required.
"I'll be returning to my own room to rest. It's near my lord's room. If you need anything for him or for yourself, please let me know." he added.
With that, he spared a glance to Watanuki's tired form, pushed up his glasses, then turned to walk away. The spared glance was one of the barest of worry, but there was no need to show it too much.
