[open] Look for the bare necessities~
Who: OPEN OPEN OPEN
What: People teaming up to check out a giant abandoned temple and look for hidden treasure, clues or just want to get into some trouble
Where: An abandoned temple ruin in the heavens
When: June 13
Warnings: TBA
Note: This is a create-a-top-level or open/closed prompts or tag around log (mod approved!) it was first mentioned on this post!
[ Outside the Temple ]
The temple is located deep inside a heavily forested part of the heavens. Outside of the temple is littered with overgrown plants and roots and crumbling rocks and rubble. Most of it seems undisturbed and serene like no one has been this way in hundreds of years. Occasionally monkey and spider spirits can be seen crawling over cracked pillars or hiding in dark corners. Looking around you might find pictures of nameless faces etched into stone or old brass and copper coins under rocks or in the dirt. Beware of pitfalls.
[ Outer Sanctum ]
Immediately inside the temple is the Outer Sanctum which is filled with spots of sunlight. The place glitters with light from the sun trickling in from the broken and cracked roof. Pillars and walls gleam with jewels and precious stones ripe for the taking. If certain gems are disturbed you might hear slight rumblings in the distance or the floor might shake but nothing else of interest happens.
If you stay here long enough you might hear the chirping of bird spirits but there are none in sight. The birds will chatter and whisper in your ear with sing song tunes. Call back to them and they might just swoop and attack you. If killed they turn into sapphires.
[ Left Wing ]
The left wing is dark and many doors are locked or set with traps. Broken furniture litters the wing like a massive fight happened here. Dust settles on everything like a thick fog. If you enter some of the rooms you will find libraries and study halls. Most of the books crumble into dust when you touch them. There are tapestries all along the walls of a young Amaterasu. They can be taken off the walls and do not crumble like the books do. The ones that might catch your eye are the ones depicting her hiding in a cave from dark looming figures.
Dig enough through these rooms and you might find some strange trinkets:
- A branch that shakes when it is going to rain soon
- A jar of yellow ink that slowly turns black over several days
- A small leather book with several names of hafuri shinki inside
- A brass lamp engraved with a map of the heavens in ancient times when lit
- A leather bracer that gives you monstrous claws when worn
- A ring which if you put on you can’t remove but your godly power seems slightly enhanced
[ Right Wing ]
The right wing makes it hard for you to breathe inside. Some sort of shade or haze fills these halls and your head starts to hurt the longer you stay in this wing. The rooms that you find are all open and no door is locked but there are several puzzles to be found. You will find abandoned weaponry rooms and storage rooms. The strangest room you might find is the room filled with opened and empty human caskets. Many jars and old boxes scatter the halls in which some of them are broken some of them are intact.
Dig enough through these rooms and you might find some strange trinkets:
- A necklace with red jewels that seems to slightly enhance shinki borderlines
- An amulet set with a carved carnelian that makes you feel warm when you wear it
- A sealed box with no openings that sounds like there might be bugs crawling around inside
- A pouch with several mix matched diamond and gold earrings inside
- A golden statue in the shape of a praying Amaterasu
- A katana with no sheath that is broken and chipped but has a gold chain wrapped around it
[ Inner Sanctum ]
First you are met with a giant set of sealed doors that seem nearly impossible to open. The doors are covered with ancient characters that are unreadable unless you have a way to decipher it. The doors seem immovable by normal strength or magic and only by god or shinki powers once you are lucky enough to stumble on this fact or have a way to read the doors. Once you find this fact or have a way to read the messages, use a god or shinki power (of any sort) and the doors will slowly crack open to a dark Inner Sanctum.
The Inner Sanctum is one large chamber with several chairs and a large table in the center. There are melted down candles everywhere. Inside you find absolutely nothing else of interest. Hope you didn’t spend too much time trying to get the doors open, Wanderer. But does this mean someone got here before you?
Someone with a keen eye might notice the small box tucked away somewhere. Inside the box is a large glowing amethyst. If it is removed the monkey spirits outside the temple will attack everyone on sight.

(Right Wing)
Hey, be careful with that! [He dashes forward to catch the other boy’s attention.] The wood might be rotten and it could splinter and hurt you.
[And then in the light of his flashlight Yukine gets a good look at who he’s come across. Under his mask he frowns. This guy…
They had a bad first impression is all, right.]
no subject
I-I'll be fine! I can heal myself.
[He can't even tell who this is just by voice alone. His eyes will have to get adjusted to the lighting before he can even look at them.]</small. I've already broken a few boxes anyways.
no subject
Looking over towards the heap of broken wood he just sighs under his breath.]
Right. Hope you didn't miss anything in your reckless enthusiasm.
Anyway, just because you can heal yourself doesn't mean you should go hurting yourself in the first place, right?
[That is just common sense, right?]
no subject
[Sounds just like Kairi in a way. She was fussy like that.]
I'm not doing it on purpose. Some of this stuff just breaks really easy.
no subject
[Crouching down across from Roxas and peering at the pile of junk he shrugs.]
Well, you’re right about that— wait, you’re “more used to” treasure chests? What do you mean?
[Yukine is surprised. For all that he knows that the new gods and shinki are from strange other worlds, it’s hard to imagine being ‘used to’ treasure chests. Was he a pirate or something?]
no subject
[No, but he knows pirates! Isn't that cool?
Roxas is careful as he sifts through the rubble.] Though Koriko didn't have treasure chests. A lot of stuff you just had to buy.
no subject
Potions, spells and other items from treasure chests? That seriously sounds like a video game. [But he shrugs and starts carefully looking through the rubble with him.]
I guess the worlds that you new guys come from are more complicated than I first thought. You've ...been to other worlds, before this one?
no subject
It does... [Wow. That's kind of weird.]
I've been to a lot of worlds. I spent over a year in another world before coming here. Before that I lived in the World That Never Was. Though I like to think Twilight Town is my real home.
[It's where he started out after all.]
no subject
What kind of name is that – if it ‘never was’, how can it ‘be’ a place to live? [He then makes a small gesture to dismiss that. If that's what it's called, that's what it's called. Not like Roxas named it.]
… Anyway, so you know about video games? [The edge of his mouth turns up in a small smile.]
I never really think about it, but I guess just like some of you guys know how to use a smart phone and some don’t, I guess some would know about stuff like that.
no subject
Roxas nods.] Sora has more games at his temple, but I have some at mine, too. I play them when I get bored. [He blinks for a moment, picking up a splinter and looking it over before tossing it over this shoulder as he thinks.]
I'm not the best with computers, but I can use the phones just fine. I don't think phones would work right the way I'm used to traveling, so maybe it's a good thing we never had any.
no subject
And- well, he doesn’t play video games any more, but it might be fun to play once again with someone… But it’s not like he can invite himself.]
Mm. Well, I guess smart phones are simpler by design.
[Frowning down at the pile of rubble they’ve almost exhausted, Yukine then looks up and around.]
I don’t suppose you’re good at noticing things that seem out of place? Lara-sama said that that’s one of the best ways to find the hidden places where treasure can be.
no subject
[He nods.] A lot simpler. I've been teaching Axel about how to make sure he doesn't delete his apps again.
Huh? [Roxas looks around as well. What stands out...] I saw a cubby that was filled with cobwebs in the wall. I don't... like touching spiders... Should we check that?
no subject
And hoooold up a sec-]
Kairi's your shinki? ... I mean, we've met so... She's really social, isn't she.
[He finishes a bit lamely with a sigh. He's still nervous about making friends with the new gods and shinki, but ... there's no reason not to take up the invitation either. (Besides the fact that probably both Sora and Kairi wouldn't let him pass once they hear of this.)
So he pulls down his mask so that Roxas can see him smile, small and reserved though it is.]
Sure. I'd like to come over sometime to play games with you guys.
no subject
[The acceptance makes him perk up, and he matches Yukine's with a bigger smile of his own.]
Really? You gotta text me when you're free then! It's easier to plan things when it comes to my temple... It might be a mess otherwise.
no subject
[But his grin is understanding as he pulls his mask back up. He has a whole list of reasons people can't come to his place, after all, so he can't complain.]
But, sure, I'll do that. I look forward to it.
...By the way, isn't this stuff in the air hurting your head? Even with this mask on it's kinda getting to me.
no subject
[Cat, Dream Eater, ghost dogs, Senri, you name it. At any one time there's people there. Never a quiet moment.] T-That's why you should text.
[He nods.] I've been ignoring it. The last world I was in had a mine with something like this, except it made people hallucinate really badly.
no subject
And he grimaces sourly at that.]
Ignoring it? First the wood and now this- you're kinda dense, aren't you. [He grumbles that last thought relatively quietly. He'll try to not make a new friend have reason to get upset at him right off the bat. But come on-
As he grumbled he pulled off his backpack, and after rummaging around in it for only a second he pulls out a mask. He holds it out to Roxas.]
It's more for preventing colds, but it seems to be doing an okay job against this whatever-it-is. Better than nothing, anyway.
[If he doesn't take it he's going to tell Kairi on him or something. Geez, a god shouldn't make a shinki worry.]
no subject
[Why was Yukine so insistent on this? He sighs with irritation before taking the mask. If anything, this guy seems to be friends with Kairi, which means trouble if there was a complaint.]
I don't think I can catch a cold... but thanks.
[There's a lot of doubt that this mask will get rid of the headache he's already got. He puts it on and is now glad his frown was hidden.]
Better?
no subject
'Welcome.
...I dunno. [Why you asking him?] If your headache doesn't get worse, then I guess so.
